  1. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to test this hypothesis on myself, considering I have already completed my accutane course. I think it would be suitable to take an anti-biotic whilst on accutane for inital-breakout relief. I know organs may suffer a little (specifically the liver) but I think the situation is worthy of consulation with a physician.
  2. Alpha-lipoic acid is a very powerful anti-oxidant. It neutralizes free radicals in both the fatty and watery regions of cells (meaning it's both water and fat soluble, it can travel to all parts of the cell (no other vitamin possess this quality)). It has many other effects including reducing insulin resistance (which could cause coronary disease or obesity). Alpha-lipoic acid also shields the liver from cells which are potentionally harmful and assists in flushing toxins. Alpha-lipoic acid dimi
  3. You're feeling side-effects the DAY you started Accutane? Sounds very awkward. I personally think it's either "in your head" or you have an allergic reaction to the drug (which would be incredibly rare). The first month I read a bunch of horror stories regarding Accutane. I dwelled on the idea of being unhealthy and never becoming clear. I decided to stop reading acne message boards and move on with my life. I clearly remember being where you guys are today, don't sweat it! Move on with your li
  4. Hi there, Accutane is a strange drug since it reacts so differently with different people. Even my twin brother and I had different reactions! I was breaking out more than I ever did before Accutane for the first 3-4 months. I'd usually have a 1wk "streak" of very clear skin but it didn't last long. Around 3 1/2 months my skin breakouts stopped in their tracks and I've had little breakouts from then on (currentl finishing month 5). You can only wish for the best! It was all worth it. Good Luck
  5. Hi all, I'm glad to announce that I've almost completed 5 months of Accutane! Here is the break down of the prescribed amounts: Month 1 - 40mg Month 2 - 60mg Month 3 - 80mg Month 4 - 80mg Month 5 - 80mg My prescriber has mentioned that a normal Accutane cycle is 4-6months. I'm pretty sure she wants me to go onto month 6th of 80mg but i'm kind of hesitant. Before Accutane I had mild-moderate acne located on my face, and moderate acne on my back. My bacne has completely cleared but my face still
  6. Thanks for the replies all! Sorry, but I don't think I made this very clear. I'm on the "diet" to control my acne, it's worth a shot to see if dieting affects my acne. I'm looking for foods that won't irritate my skin.
  7. Alright, well i'm getting really hungry trying to stick to this "diet." I'm trying not to eat white bread, dairy products or sugars. So here's some things I eat: -Fruits -Lemon Chicken -Teriaki Chicken -Salads -Power Bars -Organic Cereal -Raisin Bran Cereal (Should I not be eating this??) -Soy Milk -Meat That's about it, i'm pretty much starving myself. I'm 19 and I eat ALOT. Can somone please post what they eat? Quick snacks (that are filling)? For breakfast? lunch? dinner? PLEAS
  8. I use Neutrogena SPF 45 Sunblock - Oil Free, It doesn't make my face "white" nor is it thick or greasy.
  9. Get artificial tears. I'm using Bion-Tears, but they're prescription. I think www.about-acne.com (is that the site? sorry pressed for time) has a list of artificial tears. They'll keep getting dry progressively...since you're only 2 weeks into it.
  10. Hi, I'm currently using an electrin (norelco) razor, obviously for the hair on my face. I was wondering if using an electric razor irritates the skin? Or which electric razor would you recommend? My one looks like the 3-disc one: OO O I really would prefer not using an ordinary razor, I always cut myself and seem to "trim" off my zits...WE GOT A BLEEDER!
  11. Wouldn't this be the equilvanet of adding some Vit C (lemon juice) in your current cleanser?
  12. Puma - I'm having the same problems, i'm getting lots and lots of smaller sized zits all over my face. I've been using this regime for a week and i'm going to continue using it until the bottles are empty. I hope everything is just coming up to the surface. I read somewhere that it takes about 3 weeks for a zit to go through it's entire life. Anyway, wish me luck and good luck to you
  13. Wow, thanks Botchla. I really appreciate the time you take to look up these things for me. One more question... I'm currently using an electrin (norelco) razor. It's the one with the three circles: OO O haha, anyway...should I stick to using this razor, or is there some type of razor for "acne patients?" Thanks again!!!
  14. Yeah, lemon juice is supposively a really good source of vitamin C. I don't really know what i'm talking about, but I think it absorbs the best (because it is a food) and gets rid of free radicals in the body. I've heard from serveral people on clearskin.net that it helped them ALOT. Anyway, selenium? do you know what that does?
  15. Hi bochla, thanks for replying. Do you know how much lemon juice I should be drinking per day? Right now i'm on 1 lemon per day, too much? too little?
