  1. I actually hate everything about this awful disease. I’m sick of living this nightmare day in and day out. I’m sick of feeling so unattractive and everything always being about my skin. Six years is too much. I really need help. No one understands it. All I get all the time is ‘it’s not hat bad’ ‘you can barely notice’ ‘why don’t you try this....’ I’ve never felt so unattractive in my life and I can’t even talk about it. I can’t stand this. It hurts so much.
  2. It mainly depends on the sort of acne. Some people are required to take it over a longer period of time especially if its a more stubborn form of acne but generally yes you are right, they base it on an accumulative dose that you need to take so in the case mentioned above yes it would work the same.
  3. Thanks for your post. My derm said he would more than likely put me back on it after a while if nothing else seems to be working so its a conversation I will have with him. I don't know why the low dosage to be honest. Im assuming its something to do with my weight though as for a guy I would consider myself to be under the average weight for a guy my age. The side effects I had were minimal so I'm sure I could tolerate a higher dosage. Its nice to hear that you have had a better success story
  4. Today I am sat here writing this post, just as depressed about my skin as I was one year ago when I took my first accutane pill. A drug that has supposedly helped millions of people won't help me. I started taking accutane back in June last year and decided that I will monitor my progress by taking photos, as all of my acne is on my back so it makes it difficult to notice any changes. After a few months I had noticed a few slight improvements in my skin. Nothing massive but they were there. I wa
  5. yer it was my derm who prescribed it for me.
  6. I took myself off accutane about a month ago now despite my derm saying he wanted me to stay on it for another two months but I couldn't cope with what it was doing to my body any more. I have been taking 30mg daily since July last year so thats about 9 months. (It doesn't seem like a lot but I'm a pretty skinny guy, hence the low dosage) In the last couple of months of Accutane I had pretty much given up I kept skipping days of my medication and I was just hopeless. My cystic acne had cleared b
  7. thanks for the feedback. Aye I'm not expecting a massive improvement but I felt it couldn't hurt to give it a try. thank you
  8. Ok so I have realised that I am well under average when it comes to the amount of water I drink daily. Sometimes its about 0.25 litres and most days its none at all. Im tired most of the time and sleep a lot. So I thought I would give it a go to see how it can improve my skin and my lifestyle. I aim at drinking 2 Litres a day which averages at about 4 pints. Want to see if It can do anything for my dark circles, lip dryness, tiredness, general health and most importantly my skin.
  9. For the first time in years I woke up this morning with no active cysts and I couldn't be happier. With the last one that had been lingering for a couple weeks had finally vanished and now nothing. Im still along way to go but without the cysts I know I'm nearly done. I have a few clogged pores and blackheads that still need shifting and my pigmentation needs work but its faded a lot (I'm starting a very light exfoliation on the clogged pores as most of them seem to be extruding). To think this
  10. Ok awesome thank you. I was assuming it was just down to sensitive skin. Will check out sudocrem. Thank you
  11. Okay so the past month or so, every time I have showered a red rash appears on my chest and side of my neck. It lasts about 40 minutes then disappears. It is only ever there when I shower and always in the exact same place and no where else. I tried showering with cooler water today and haven't used any shower gels or soap except conditioner which I washed backwards down my back so it wouldn't come in contact with my chest but yet its still there. Any idea whats causing iy and has anyone had it
  12. Okay so I'm coming up to the end of my 6 months on Accutane now and its has managed to clear my cystic acne (except for when i pick and squeeze at my spots and they turn in to cysts) I'm totally clear. But my blackheads just don't seem to be doing much. Apparently there has been a slight clearing in parts from what other people can see but I can see very little difference. Im only on 30mg daily and have been for my full course, my derm said that the blackheads would take longer to c
  13. awesome thank you. I checked the ingredients and the label and it doesn't seem they are any added vitamins in there anyway so will give them a go. Thank you.
  14. So as I have lost over half a stone recently Im looking at trying to gain some weight again. I have increased my calorie intake a lot but wanted to start taking some protein shakes as well during the day. Is this allowed while on accutane? I don't think it should effect anything should it? But just want to be sure. Any one know? Thanks
  15. Haven't done an update in a while because I have been rather busy with work and university so thought I would try get one done now. I have been really lucky up un till the last few weeks or so and have had minimum side effects (dry lips and the one nose bleed in the first few weeks but thats about it) up until a few weeks ago when my body seemed to have turned against me. I started getting bad stomach pains and pains in my body that I had not had before, especially ones where my live
  16. Hi. I know your frustration. Im in to my 6 month now and still getting the occasional cyst and my blackheads are just not shifting. Im only on 30mg daily so not as high as you but I would definitely recommend taking a photo diary its a lot easier to see the difference. Don't give up just yet though you will get there. Whats your dermatologist said about it? Have the commented on any improvements?
  17. So I have been on Accutane coming up to 5 months now. 30mg a day. Been on steroids at the same time for the side effects but I haven't really seen much difference apart from an improvement in my hyper pigmentation. Getting a bit frustrated now so I was wondering if anything that is done that effects the liver also effects the effectiveness of Accutane. Such as eating and drinking a lot of stuff thats beneficial to the liver, stuff thats high in antioxidants and helps detox the liver. If someth
  18. Okay so Im on day 110 coming up to the end of my fourth month of Accutane and things are finally starting to have a noticeable difference. I have 0 active cysts. The cream that my derm prescribed me has seen to the remaining few that were there. I have one large pimple on my back but its not a cyst and I know its not going to leave a huge red mark like a cyst would so I'm happy. There are patches of skin on my back that have become clear from blackheads and clogged pores which haven't been clea
  19. Im currently a few days in to month 4 of Accutane and I have just got back from my check up with my dermatologist. She asked me if my acne had improved and I said I couldn't see a difference myself except for the PIH calming down which she was surprised about but when she had a look she said it had definitely improved which was awesome to hear. She has kept my dosage the same and provided me with a cream to put on any active lesions which will help them die down. She is also getting me in
  20. This is right on the money. If you have acne, you are doing something wrong and you normally have to make a BIG change in your life to see real relief. I'm happy you have found your cure. Thank you for sharing your method. I used something similar but didn't have to cut meat. I also never eat any grains at all. I feel meat is really vilified when there is plenty of hormone-free, ethically raised meat available. It may not be necessary but I don't think it's the enemy it is painted to be. I w

    Month 3 Accutane

Aye its annoying i know :/ How long do you have to be on them for if you know?
  22. So im a few days in to my third month of accutane. My initial break out is still ongoing but seems to be calming down. Still on the same dosage 30mg. My PIH hasn't faded as much as it did within the last couple months but still has lightened more. Keeping on with the vitamins to try and speed this process up. Nothing really too bad with side effects. Had my first nose bleed the other week while showering and then the other day my bottom lip started bleeding from the dryness but thats it. Pas

    Day 47

Im on 30mg daily. And I wouldn't worry about that I think I was just having a good skin day as I have a few new ones now but they still seem to be healing a lot faster than they used too. I had my first nose bleed yesterday also and have experienced some lower back pain and leg pain but i think thats from exercising.

    Day 47

Day 47 of being on Accutane and what I assume to be my initial breakout seems to be dying off. The overall size of the cysts have shrunk a lot so I'm hoping I'm on the up from here. So far I have been lucky with side effects. Only ones I have experienced is dry lips and a flaking of skin around the mouth but nothing some vaseline and moisturiser can't help.
