  1. I have been on 20mg of Accutane for about 4 months, am 19 years old, and I just got the first cold sore of my life. The doctor said severe dryness of the lips makes you far more susceptible to get them from someone who may not even have any showing. Just a warning out there for people to make sure that you don't have any cracks/open skin on your lips because you are that much more likely to get an infection. I tried to keep mine under control but obviously didn't do a good enough job. I real
  2. 20mg a day for 3 months so far. I have noticed improvement, especially on my face. My back is a little better and my chest is the same or worse than it was before. I'm hoping for the rest of it to start improving soon. So far, the side effects haven't been nearly as bad as when I was on 80 a day, but that would be the equivilant of being on 80 a day for a few weeks so it is hard to tell for now. I really hope this works for me though, because last time the side effects were too bad and I ha
  3. I am sure mickey67 is correct, but you asked for personal experiences, not what the doctor says to do or what some possible side effects are. I have been on Accutane (only 20mg a day) for 3 months now and haven't had any problems with drinking while on it. It's probably not smart to do and I do make an effort to drink less than I normally do, but that is a fairly unrealistic goal to not drink while at college(especially a party school like mine). Last night I had 6 beers in a little over an h
  4. im a lifeguard on accutane...probably not the greatest idea but despite putting on sunscreen a couple times a day im the most tan i have been in my entire life...as long as you are careful, its not bad
  5. It is a good idea to not drink while on accutane. However, when i go back to school next month I will be drinking a lot so i dont really know what to tell you. I only drink like once a week now but my first two months of testing have been fine. The real test is next month when im drinking 3-4 nights a week...
  6. I couldn't agree more with everything said. Ipledge makes it such a pain in the ass just to pick up a prescription. I'm on my third month and at the beginning of each month I have had a minimum of 3 problems with either the dermatologist office, the pharmacy or both because of Ipledge's bullshit. I was on Accutane once before and it was so much easier before Ipledge.
  7. I was constantly burnt for all of last week if that makes you feel better...being a lifeguard on accutane was probably not the best idea...sunscreen didn't even help until I had a base...aloe is a good idea while you are burnt
  8. dont drink alcohol a couple days before and dont eat like 12 hours before you get your blood drawn. they are looking for things like cholesterol and tryglycerites(completely guessing on the spelling) that tend to change while on accutane. you should be fine...
  9. I'm on my 18th day of 20 mgs a day. I didn't have an initial breakout but it hasn't really gotten any better yet. I'm guessing it will just take a lot more time to see results. My derm said he might bump me up to 30 or 40 depending on how I do...
  10. It didn't work for my face or back so I guess be thankful that it works for your back. I'm back on Accutane again because of Bactrim not doing anything.
  11. I stopped like 4 days before I began my course of Accutane and didn't have any problems. I would suggest not taking the two medications simultaneously as you will get way too dried out, but I dont think it matters how much time you are off it.
  12. I took Bactrim for about a year and it was fairly helpful with Tazarac but it didn't really do the job for me. Anyway I just wanted to say that I had no reaction to it at all and I hope it is more effective for you than it was for me.
  13. Same with me. The only thing that works at all for me is Aquafor...
  14. I'm doing it right now since last time my side effects were so bad. Today is my 8th day on 20mg a day but I haven't had a breakout so far. I might increase the dosage later but I hope it works for me. However, I think if you are on 20mg a day for only 6 months, i doubt that is long enough. I will be on longer than that and I will probably increase the amount per day as well...
  15. I second that because I highly doubt all of what you said is true. Also, what part of the brain's function are you refering to? And why do you seem to be the only person who knows about this?
