  1. M84 I'm sorry it's not working out well for you so far . I wanted to update, too. I have now finished my 2nd pack of Ortho Cyclen (name brand) and things are better. Not perfect, but an improvement. I've noticed that the first week or two I get some new pimples, and then my skin gets better toward the end of the back. Now, at this same time, I did change my skin care regimen a bit, but I think the BC has made the biggest difference. I had been using retinoids for a year and I felt they were
  2. Anyone? I know that I don't see as many posts of Ortho Cyclen here. Anyone on any generic forms (Sprintec, mononessa, Trisprintec, trinessa?)
  3. I am on my second pack of Ortho Cyclen. I too have been trying to hear people's experiences with either an IB or no results for a few months before having clear skin! It doesn't seem to be helping yet for me (except for making me bloated and moody...)
  4. You can use Aczone in the morning and BP at night, or vice versa. It's just putting one on top of the other that can cause a brownish, orangish color. (Even then... I used to spot treat with BP on top of aczone and the brown color only appeared if I didn't let aczone dry for about 10 minutes first). Personally I didn't think aczone worked for my face very well (used it for about a year)... Calmed the zits down but that's it. I've started using my leftover on my chest and back, and it has help
  5. Thank you for your replies! I have had such bad luck with birth controls in the past. I am trying to stick through three months to see, but I will feel like I'm wasting all this time if it's only going to make my skin worse. However, if my hormones are merely adjusting, I guess I can stick it out and cling to the light at the end of the tunnel . Those painful, cystic pimples are just the worst, though. They ruin my entire day.
  6. Hi everyone, My acne: Mild/Moderate, adult-onset, mainly on sides of nose and between eyebrows, with a ton of closed comedones on my cheeks. Occasional painful large pimples on cheeks from those comedones. 28 years old. I have finally accepted that I need to give birth control a fair shot for my acne. I have been told by more than one dematologist that my adult-onset acne is due to hormones, and topicals will only help so much until I go on birth control. After a year of using retinoi
  7. Edit- Sorry, I meant for this to be in the Hormonal Acne forum... I reposted it there and I don't want to cross-post, but I don't seem to be able to delete. 8. That is a really strange explanation from your doctor. I swear I think a lot of GYNs don't understand how birth control and acne work. I personally hated LoLoestrin and Loestrin. Gave me terrible breakouts, worse I'd ever had which I attribted to the fact is was high-androgenic. (It also made me rediculously nauseated and depressed and caused a lot of bleeding Lolo was just... TOO low... that's why I switched to Loestrin.) However, I was only on each for a month because I couldn't take it.
  9. Hi, I came across this when I was searching for some answers, and just in case you haven't received help since your post, I thought I would give you some info. Yaz, BeYaz. And Yasmin are not the best bet when on spironolactone. This is because they also act as a diuretic and can elevate potassium (and spironolactone does that too, albeit a bit more). Everyone is different with BCs. I know that gets so annoying to hear!! But it's true. Somewhere on this site Greengables made a post about th
