  1. my acne is nodular, which is hard to see in the pics I've also suffered since I was 10 (I'm 21 now) and have tried every antibiotic and topical in the book my acne is more moderate than mild but thanks for judging me and being a jerk about something I'm clearly very sensitive of :) that's what people say but they also say that accutane is supposed to work in the first 2-3 months and it didn't for me it was really hard to find a derm to prescribe it to me in the first place because ther
  2. Hey everyone I went on accutane back in June. I started off on 40mg/day for the first three months (it was only supposed to be the first two.. the nurses at my doctor's office made a mistake about how many months I'd been on the medication) and 60mg/day for the last two and a half. I'm a 110lb, 21 year old female. I had an appointment last week and the dermatoligist wants me to take what I have leftover (about two weeks worth) and then we will be ending treatment. At this rate, I'm scheduled
  3. Day 26: Pretty sure I'm getting an IB right now.. My skin looks awful and all I want to do is not exist for this week until it's over
  4. I'm going through this right now! I'm about three weeks into my treatment. It used to be that I'd have to wash my hair once a day at least (often twice) or else I'd end up looking like I rolled around in some grease, but now I only have to wash it every 3 to 4 days. It seems counterintuitive, but DON'T wash it everyday. That just dries your scalp out more. What's helped me a lot is washing my hair only about twice a week. Once a week I use head and shoulders and then the other time I use a
  5. I took 100mg of doxycycline for about three years. I thought it was fine, I don't really know how much it improved my acne because I was on topicals at the same time, but I don't think it hurt. My skin has never really responded to antibiotics to begin with anyway.
  6. I really like Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy for chapstick! It comes in a tube and you can use it other places too! I've been putting a bit underneath my eyebrows every night before bed because that helps with avoiding dry eyelids. Also be sure to drink lots of water! The more water you drink, the less chapped your lips will be
  7. As far as I know, you don't have to be 18 to receive accutane. I knew kids in school who had it. You also don't have to have nodular cystic acne. You should be able to get it as long as your acne is persistent and has not responded well to other treatments. I was in the same boat as you for 5 years, and I'm only just finishing my third week of accutane now. My acne never used to be nodular cystic (just nodular) but it became nodular cystic about a year and a half ago, and that's when I was ab
  8. I've fallen a bit behind on keeping this updated.. I work 50 hours a week so it's not entirely my fault lol I swear So today officially marks week three (day 21) of accutane for me! I only have TWO active spots right now! The rest are all red spots or scars from past pimples I had a two week follow up with my derm a couple of days ago, and he told me the medicine is working exactly how it's supposed to. I haven't seen much improvement yet but he told me I probably won't until the
  9. Oh no, that's really too bad! Was it because of your dosage or just overall a bad reaction? OHHH I gotcha. I can tell that mine are definitely headed down that path lol, I feel like my lips are about to split up my whole face sometimes lol. I think your English is great, I never would have guessed it isn't your native language! I definitely know what you mean about the wait. I feel like I've waited half my life for this stuff. It's gonna be worth it in the end though! I'm sure you'll have g
  10. Oh wow! Are your lips very painful? I've been using Carmex on mine and they're starting to get ito the point where it feels like I can peel my whole lip off lol. What's pawpaw cream? DOes it work well? I was thinking about looking into something new because I HATE the taste of the Carmex. Congratulations on your success so far I can't wait till I can report the same! The ipledge thing is definitely a pain in the butt lol. If you make a log, I'll follow your's too! --------------------
  11. Day 9: I'm pretty sure my skin is gradually getting worse but it's so bad already that it's hard to tell lol. I have two new blind pimples and a bunch of new breakouts on my forehead. My lips are also SUPER dry and I had my first bloody nose this morning! I wasn't expecting a bloody nose to happen so soon but I'm really susceptible to them in the winter (because of the dry weather) so I'm not really that surprised.
  12. I definitely prefer Duac. Epiduo really didn't do anything for me. I used Duac in the morning and a retinol at night from 2011 - 2013 and after the initial breakout, my skin had a remission of acne for about two years! I tried epiduo after my skin relapsed and it didn't help at all, but it also didn't make things worse.
  13. My Accutane journey! My initial dosage is 40mg/day. Can't wait to see where this leads me!
  14. Day 7 - 8: I woke up Day 7 feeling surprisingly clear but throughout the day I ended up breaking out quite a bit. I went to the zoo and it was REALLY humid out so I suspect that might have had something to do with it, along with the fact that it's been my TOM, so I'm not surprised I'm not really seeing any improvement yet. My lips are really dry and my mouth is really dry and my scalp is really dry and I realized I absolutely cannot wash my hair every day like I used to unless I want to be mis
  15. Day 6: Not much difference to report today! I have only one new spot and it's really not visible, just that I can feel it when I wash my face. Also, I'm not sure if it's accutane related, but my hair feels AMAZING lol. Usually it gets so greasy within about 16 hours of me washing it, but it's been a full 36 hours since I washed my hair last and it feels like I just washed it maybe an hour ago! I'm hoping that means that the amount of oil I'm producing really is decreasing.
