    Retin-A Cream 0.025% Cream

Thanks, I think I could use all the luck I can get! I'm very happy to hear that your skins cleared up! I can't wait til I myself hit the two month mark! My skin actually seems to be clearing and calming after the initial frenzy, so I'm crossing my fingers that it continues this way for now. I was just wondering what kind of products you've been using to wash your face while on Accutane, and if you've been left with any hyperpigmentation now? Sorry for the late reply! I use the Neutrogena Extra Gentle Daily face wash (the foaming version) and it has not irritated my skin. They have a cream version too. The foaming is soap free and I think the cream version is as well. I do sadly have hyper-pigmentation left. I was a picker and picked at ALL my acne before and while on Accutane. I don't know if all of them are scars but some are. I've been using Vanicream sunscreen lately. The 35 SPF one is less greasy but the 50 SPF is definitely more greasy which could be a good thing if you have dry skin. I've also been using 100% jojoba oil from GNC which really helps hydrate my skin. I used Aquaphor during my first 2 months too because my skin was so dry. Now on month 3 I just use it on dry patches because my skin really isn't as dry. Oh, and I have heard people use either Cetaphil or CeraVe while on Accutane but both of those kind of burnt my skin and left it even more red than it was. Even the moisturizers made my skin burn. I just looked for a soap free cleanser and found the one I mentioned. I don't use anything else on my face. I used Benzoyl Peroxide in the first few weeks but that was a bad idea. I looked like I had burns all over!
  2. I have struggled with acne since I was about 10. I am currently 16, soon to be 17 and FINALLY have gotten rid of my horrific cystic acne thanks to Accutane. I was originally suppose to be on it for 7 months but my skin is doing so good that my dermatologist said my course will end with me taking Accutane for 5 months. It is almost month 3 I believe and my skin hasn't had a single flare-up for a few weeks. The first few weeks for honestly worse than anything I have ever had. I had bad acne but week 1-5 were terrible. Week 7 I finally cleared up and now I have had about 5 pimples total since then. I have had to skip a few days of Accutane because of my insurance and iPledge. I use to be taking 40mg for my first prescription, 40mg one day and 60mg the other for my next fill, and now I am taking 40mg a day because apparently my insurance won't let me have enough pills so I can do my 40mg and 60mg which is really just 2 20mg one day and 3 20mg the next. I will have to probably take 20mg a day until my next appointment otherwise I will have to miss Accutane for a week. That is my first question; should I continue my 2 20mg a day and miss a week of Accutane or just do 20mg a day? I only have 16 pills left and my appointment isn't until the 21st of this month. I can take my regular dose one day but the rest would have to be 20mg. I am a little worried that doing that might mess up my schedule or something. I tried getting in sooner but my dermatologist is only there on Thursdays and she has vacation the Thursdays before my appointment. I could go to a different dermatologist but that will cost out of pocket and my insurance will not cover it so that isn't an option. Since I missed a few days, should I see if I can extend my Accutane course for a few days so that I get my full dosage? My next question is how in the world do I help my redness? I am really pale and have pink undertones which makes my face look even more red. It's so red that it looks like a different color than my neck. It's red all day and night but when I wake up in the morning my face isn't red. I don't use anything harsh at all and I know this is from Accutane because my face was never this red. I don't use hot water on my face either. Any tips? I've tried oatmeal for the face and green tea but it doesn't work one bit. I don't really go out much so I don't think the sun is my problem but when I do I use sunscreen on my face under my makeup which is non-comedogenic of course. I appreciate all answers!
  3. Woah, late post, eh?! I actually am going into my 3rd month of Accutane this month! I am 100% clear minus random pimples. I didn't see improvement until about week 7. I broke out worse than ever and was suppose to be on Accutane for 7 months because it was so severe but now I will be ending Accutane sometime in October/beginning of June. Thank you for your reply, though! I tried that antibiotic as well (and so much more, hence Accutane) and it didn't help much. I am so glad it worked for you. Acne is a hard thing to deal with and it's good to hear you found something that works.

    Accutane Help? I'm Pretty Confused/worried.

I was taking 40mg the first month. Basically up until a month I was taking 40mg and after the month I was doing 40mg, 60mg and now I'm taking 40mg starting today. Thanks for answering by the way! I'm sorry if I'm confusing you. Let me try making this more understanding:First prescription fill: 40mg a day Second fill: 3 boxes of 20mg (2 20mg one day, 3 20mg other day) Current fill: 40mg a day Is that more correct sounding? It's been 8 weeks since I started. We have already established that you need approximately 6,000 mg cumulative to reach 120mg/kg. Ok, so 40 mg a day in the 1st month = 1200mg. 50mg in the second month (again, alternating 40mg and 60mg every other day is equivalent to 50mg a day) = 1500 So, the first 8 weeks you have taken a total of 2700. 6000-2700 = 3300 mg to go. Again, if you have 3 months left in your course, you will need to take 37mg a day to reach the cumulative dose. (3300 / 90 days = ~37mg). So, once again - you should be fine if you continue to take 40 mg a day for the rest of your course, assuming you have completed 60 days, with the first 30 days at 40mg, and the second 30 days at 50 AND you will be taking 40mg a day for the next 90 days. If the above sentence in bold is true, and your weight remains stable (I calculated this at 50 kg with is approx. 110Ib) you will reach just over a cumulative dose of 120mg/kg. Thank you for clearing that up!

I'm sorry to hear. I was on Tretinoin for over 14 weeks before I was refereed to a dermatologist and prescribed Accutane. I'm on month two now and I'm clearped up besides a piece of skin I just HAD to pick until it turned raw. I'm hoping to be done October but was originally planned to be on it until December but my sevre acne cleared so well. I wish you the best of luck!
  7. I made a new account aside from this one and tried posting an Accutane question but I guess it didn't post as it is not in my topics on my other profile. Basically, I have a few problems. Them being: -Went to my monthly check-in.Dermatologist originally had me to be on Accutane for 6, even 7 months. Now she is saying I have two appointments left because the final month I don't need to be seen. I've only been on it for 2 months. (2 months exactly on the 21st) I had severe acne that NOTHING else could fix and right now, since about week 7, I have been clear. No active breakouts at all. -My dermatologist called after we left saying I can only take 40mg once a day now because of iPledge and my insurance. They won't let me have my usual 40mg one day and 60mg the other due to the supply being too high for me to contain. I can only have a 30 day supply but last time I filled up my prescription I got 3 boxes of 20mg. I took 2 20mg one day and 3 20mg the next. Well, my next appointment isn't until the 21st of next month and I will run our 4 days before I can get another prescription. I hate missing doses because I feel like it puts me back.I was told to not skip more than 7 days. I already had to skip one because of the dermatologist's schedule. I am confused because I weigh 110/115 pounds/16 years old and am suppose to have a certain "cumulative dose" and I will not meet that at all now that I am only taking 40mg a day. I am worried because I do not want to have to take a second round. We are paying about $330 out of pocket each month for it. My insurance covers $200. It's still a lot considering we have bad money problems with the state and being in debt in medical bills. I need help understanding this all. Will I be okay to take the 40mg a day for the next 3 months? Is there a huge chance of it coming back to the point I need another course? I am sorry if I had posted this already as it didn't show up anywhere in my other account. I had to do some searching to find the email for this account for the password!

Starting Accutane In Exactly 30 Days From Now.

Thank you! I'm very excited to start the road to clear skin. I don't even care if my acne gets worse while on it because I know that within 5 months, I should be clear. I didn't get any kind of initial breakout, so hopefully you will be all clear without getting it worse That's awesome! I hope I don't get one. I'm prepared I guess if I happen to. Skin update/21 more days until Accutane: A dilemma came up. I got my iPledge ID number and password in the mail and last night I went to fill out the questions. Apparently my doctor isn't participating at all. She hasn't put in that I did my first pregnancy test, and she hasn't put in that I was counseled with my dermatologist about Accutane. It says my first pregnancy test is May 21st. Which is bullshit. I had my pregnancy test 30 days prior to May 21st and was suppose to get my second, and last pregnancy test on May 21st to start Accutane. I knew my doctor would do this. She's the kind of doctor who cancels your appointment last minute without warning. So if you take off work to see her, you're screwed. It's pathetic I think. She knows how much my acne bothers me and for her to not even acknowledge me is horrible. At least update my Accutane! GEEZ! RANT OVER. Now for my skin update: I stopped using the CeraVe Hydrating cleanser because I was in a little problem. I noticed my forehead was covered in very small red pimples so I took it upon myself to research some answers. Then it hit me. Maybe it's because the only acne treatment I'm using is Differin! I started using my Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash along with the Clean and Clear Advantage spot treatment on my forehead and it's been about 3 days, and I see a difference. On the downside, I think my toothpaste is breaking me out around my mouth. Ugh. I also have some little whiteheads on my chin and cheeks. The ones on my cheeks start very red and painful and then become whiteheads. Ew.

25 more days until Accutane. UGH. Why is this going by so damn slow? I'm too anxious! I just want to start it! My face has gotten worse, of course. I have a bunch of small, red, nearly whitehead pimples on my forehead and 2 almost gone (I think) cysts near both my eyebrows. I have a bunch of hard red pimples on my lower cheeks and jawline and a few small pimples near my chin. It looks so bad. I recently cut my fingernails so short so I couldn't pop them. I've been putting dabs of Neosporin on the angry looking ones during the day to help with the pus and inflammation. I've been doing masks as well. Plain Greek yoghurt with ground up plain oatmeal and organic honey for 20 minutes to 30 minutes. VERY soothing and helps heal my pimples faster and makes my face look less red. I've also been eating healthier. I didn't have anything bad today (except 2 pieces of dark chocolate). I've been drinking smoothies with Greek yoghurt and fresh fruit daily without sugar added, and have also been eating vegetables like celery and I haven't had milk in over a year! (I drink Blue Diamond Natural unsweetened original almond milk) I still have acne. I hate that word. ACK-KNEE. ACK is right. My boyfriend keeps telling me it isn't bad. Liar. I've also been steaming my face for 10 minutes maybe, once a week. I feel gross. Honestly, straight up gross.

I was on it before maybe 2 years ago? I don't know. It was only $30 or $20. I don't like this new insurance crap. On the bright side, my iPledge papers came in the mail to register online!

Starting Accutane In Exactly 30 Days From Now.

Our insurance used to be good until the Obama Care. We're paying $100 more for prescriptions. My dermatologist put me back on Differin until Accutane and it cost $177! Like what the hell?! We're covered for lab (my mom gets it done a lot from her cancer she had a while ago) so I'm not worried about that. I live in America. They don't give you anything for free. lol

Alright, awesome. Thank you. I just hope my prescription isn't expensive. Ever since Obama Care, we used to pay $30 for a prescription and now we pat $130. I'm worried how much Accutane is going to be. My derm told me to take it after my day's last meal Thank you!
  14. This is very exciting. As some of you may know, I've dealt with acne since I was 10 years old. I tried literally every topical and antibiotic a doctor and/or dermatologist could prescribe. I went into the dermatologist about 2 weeks ago or so and when I handed her the list of everything I've tried, the first thing she said was Accutane. I'm not gonna lie, I geeked out a little bit. Okay, maybe I just smiled but still. Inside I was geeking out. Majorly. She told me and my dad that we could start filling out papers today and that I needed to get blood drawn and a pregnancy test the week after my appointment. I did that, and still am on the Depo-Provera shot. I didn't want to be, but my doctor wouldn't see me and if I waited for another BC I would be waiting 60 days instead of 30. Dumb rather. Anyway, she gave me Differin while I wait for Accutane. It sucks, honestly. I remember Differin breaking me out some when I tried it earlier and it is now. I also switched to CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and CeraVe Moisturizing Cream since I can't use acne medications on Accutane. I'll be starting May 21st. I wish I could start earlier! I just have a few questions about what to use on Accutane: What kind of face and body sunscreen did you use? What kind of foundation? (I need to cover my face, I know it's bad. I was recommended DermaBlend by a makeup artist and wondering if you've had luck with that?) If I take one pill, when would be the best time to take it? Is there any foods I need to be eating less of while on Accutane? What other kinds of products did you use while on Accutane? Sorry for the questions.
  15. Hope all is well. My face is freaking out for some reason again. Whenever I wash my face, afterwards these red pimples on my forehead are very visible and within 30 minutes you can't see them. I stopped Tretinoin about a week ago due to unwanted worsening of the skin. I had talked to my boyfriend about Accutane for literally a month. I kept saying wanted it, but now I don't. I don't want to go through the whole process, I don't want my doctor to be involved because knowing her, she will not get needed documents in on time or won't respond to anything. My family also has health problems. My mom had breast cancer and kiari malformation, everyone besides my dad has anxiety and has had depression, and my dad has very high blood pressure. My mom's side of the family also has a history of blood clots I guess, and taking Acctuane is just so risky. I mean, I'm only 16, yes. I don't know if I'll grow out of it since I'm still a teenager. It's just so bad! I don't know what other medications there are. I was thinking of trying Doxycycline again, however I remember feeling nausea when I took them. Those evil blue capsules. Here are the topicals and antibiotics I have tried: Doxycycline, Minocycline (3 different times), Differin, Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin, Bactrim, Benzamycin, Epiduo, Duac, and Tretinoin. None of these have worked for me. Some store products I have tried include Loreal, Aveeno, Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, Oxy, Olay, Burt's Bees, AcneFree, Proactiv, Murad, Ambi, Biore, Cetaphil, CeraVe, Stridex, Clearasil, Garnier, Freeman, La Roche Posay, St.Ives, Dove, and probably some other brands but that's too much to remember. Right now my regimen for day and night is: Wash with 10% BP cleanser by Oxy (skin doesn't react to SA cleansers for some reason) 2% SA pads by OXY First Aid Beauty Repair cream along with a few drops of 100% pure jojoba oil C&C Advantage spot treatment of 2% SA Basically, I'm wondering what else is an option. I'm desperate at this point. I'm done with my Depo-Provera shots as of next month (a little after my dermatologist appointment), and don't know what BC to choose as of the history of blood clots. The first thing my doctor mentioned was that arm implant. I don't know why she isn't discussing other options besides shots and implants.
