  1. Ok so I took Accutane from January 06 until July 07. I was on 80mg for the first month, 100mg for the second month, and 120 mg for the final four months. I weigh approximately 156 pounds. I went to the derm last week to get a prescription for propecia and he had me get some blood work done first. When the results came back he told me that my white blood cell count was low (although not dangerously low) and that I should go see my regular doc about it. I know one of the potential side effects of
  2. I got a couple pimples nearly a month after my course. I was pretty upset about it but they went away rather quickly and I'm perfecty clear now (besides some red marks). So just hang in there. I've read numerous threads on here where people have said that their skin continued to improve post tane.
  3. For me it was a very gradual process. I didn't notice a significant improvement until about 3 of 4 months into my couse. I was on accutane for 6 months and I was on a very high dosage for four of those months (120mg). I even got a minor breakout shortly after my course but right now I'm closing in on 2 months post tane and besides some left over red marks I'm relatively clear. Be patient, it can be a slow process and you can continue to see improvement even after your course is over.
  4. If it is up to your derm to decide whether you need accutane why start a topic titled "Is accutane even worth my time?"
  5. How much do you weigh? 40mg seems like a low dosage, maybe you should have tried a higher one.
  6. That's because you probabily didn't pay attention or realize you were breaking out from alcohol. You might have just thought it's just a random breakout. Thats ridiculous. I've drank plenty on Accutane in the past month and havent had any breakout whatsoever. Just because something happened to you doesnt mean it will happen to everyone.
  7. I've used the lip balm you are talking about but Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm is where its at.
  8. The probability of Accutane working decreases if: 1. It started at a very young age 2. You have acne on your body 3. Family history of acne I think I got that right I've seen a study posted here on this issue. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. I don't know where you people are from but there is a 40mg capsule in the U.S.
  10. that puts me more at ease... i guess i'll go with the 60mg... i'm 5"4' and only 16 (17 in july of this year)... is that bad? does that put me more at risk to serious side effects? also, i haven't taken any antibiotics or used any topicals in the past. will that also put me more at risk to serious side effects? edit: i forgot to ask... i see that there are 4 different types of accutane... do they differ at all in effectiveness? and which one costs the least because i don't have health insuranc
