  1. Hey there -- I felt like I was reading about myself when I read your posting! (Well, except that I'm 34...). I started Amnesteem on December 27th, turned 34 on the 29th, tried a lot of the same medicines that you had used previously and had my own huge breakout in August. I'd always had a slight problem with nodule/cystic acne, but never more than one at a time and not very often. In August, though, it just exploded. Not only did I look awful, it hurt like hell. I have been pulling away so
  2. Hey there, I'm in my first week on Accutane too and also on 40mg a day -- I'm 5'6" and 135lbs. I'm not drying out yet either. From what I've read and heard, most people seem to start to get dry after the first week. Although, I did hear a few people say they got dry right away. Who knows....I guess we'll both just have to wait and see when the fun will start. A breakout is a bummer, but at least it's over early AND you can hide it with your beard! No breakout for me yet, but I do feel a li
  3. Thanks for the info! I already had Aquaphor and Cetaphil Cream Moisturizer so I'm relieved to know I've made good choices! I'll look for the Silamistan on my way home from work because my eyes are starting to feel a bit dry.
  4. I used it for about three months, along with Klaron in the morning. I was also on Minocycline during this time. It helped a little, but not a ton. I just started Accutane this week. Give it a go though, because I did see a little difference and maybe your acne will respond better to it than mine did. I hope so! Good luck!
  5. Great! I've got dry skin to begin with -- even before the accutane -- so not using a ton of moisturizer would have been torture. Do you have any hints on what to do about an itchy scalp? The only place I'm noticing a dry problem so far is my scalp.
  6. Thanks for the advice! Do you apply moisturizer every day or only to dry areas as they occur? I ask because when I mentioned I was using a lot of moisturizer, someone else mentioned that I should be careful not to use too much, that it's good to be dry for the medicine to work. This doesn't make sense to me, but I don't want to use too much if it's not going to help. Thanks again for the help!
  7. I'm on my third day of Accutane. When did side effects start for people? I've been moisturizing like hell to hopefully stay ahead of the dryness, but I'm curious as to when the dryness, chapped lips and other things happened for people. Thanks!
  8. Hey there, I'm a 34, female and finally started Accutane after nothing else my doctor gave me worked for cystic acne. I had minor acne problems before, but about 8 months ago it became completely out of control. I've been reading the boards and have found them quite helpful...I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me and/or if there was someone else just starting Accutane that would like to share this "fabulous" journey with me? It's great to have all the support and info from the peop
