  1. I have hormonal acne too! And I also break out like crazy in the week or so leading up to my period.. then when I'm on my period, my skin is at its best. I've done so much topical shit since I was 11 basically. I'm done with topical stuff - I know it's hormonal, especially since I got my hormones checked out (my period stopped) and discovered that my DHEA-S was high. My Prolactin was also high and I'm now on medication for that. My DHEA-S is in the normal range now, but it's on the high end
  2. RobDude - you sound pretty much exactly like me. How long have you been getting acne? I've pretty much had it since I was 10 (I started puberty early). I'm turning 23 in a week and it's still relatively moderate but persistant, like it's always been. However, my acne has been changing a lot over the last couple of years. I was on Proactiv for about 6 years and it worked really well for a while, then toward the end of college, I started getting these cysts like I'd never had. So I stopped us
  3. Yeah, I never get advice from people who've actually had to deal with acne at any level, which just goes to show how viable their advice is. Most annoying unsolicited advice: One year in college I went to get a haircut at this place near campus that I'd never been to, and while the asshole was working on my hair, he goes (in an overly gentle "sucks to have skin problems like you" manner), "You know, we have some great skin products here. Our facials are really good," etc. I was like Hmm.. y
  4. Thanks for the advice, guys! I'll check these out.
  5. Yes! I've slept on my back my whole life and the main spot I get acne is on my cheeks/cheekbones.
  6. Hey guys, I posted about this a little over a week ago - I'm currently using Benzaclin for my acne. You're supposed to use it twice a day, but I had to cut it down to once due to overdrying. Even at once a day, it's still drying as a mofo in winter. As a moisturizer, I'm currently using Neutrogena Healthy Skin Lotion for Sensitive Skin and it's doing fairly well in copious amounts, but I've still got a LOT of flaking going on. Can anyone recommend a really strong moisturizer that won't br

  8. I just started using Benzaclin over a week ago and that happened to me too - yeah, just don't rub anything near that area on your eyes for a couple of days, not even moisturizer, and it'll go away.
  9. Hey guys, So I used Proactiv for about 7 years, then it stopped working for the last year or so, so I just got off it about a month ago and had my first visit to the dermatologist today in about 8 years to see what he thought. He prescribed Benzaclin, which I've never used, but from what I read in the ratings and on the boards, it's very drying. I'm sure it'll be drying for me too because every other topical acne treatment I've tried has been drying for me, so I'm wondering if anyone can reco
  10. I'm definitely with those who suggest doing any of the following things: 1. mentioning it to a group of people rather than singling one person out 2. talking about your own acne and saying what worked for you WITHOUT implying that they have acne and they should do something about it 3. not saying anything at all Someone said that some people may not see their acne as a problem and I actually think that's very true. Being that acne is so commonplace, there are certainly people with acne who are
  11. Hey guys, So I've been lurking on these boards for a few months now. Here's my backstory: I'm a 22 year-old female who's been dealing with moderate acne since I was about 10 (that's when I started puberty). I just have to say, first of all, that I don't think I have any friends who have had to deal with this like I have and it's really nice to see that there are so many of us out there (I mean it'd be nice if we could all control it/get rid of it, but you know what I'm sayin). Anyway, when
