  1. here's a tip you should pass along to your friend... I was the exact same way with Differin at first, until I started using it for only about 30 minutes at night. Going to sleep with it on would make me look like a tomato in the morning. I just do 30-40 minutes at night, wash my face off with water, put on some moisturizer... and that's when it started working wonders for me.
  2. ever consider accutane? I had acne similar to yours, and accutane has cleared me right up. Now I just use differin for about 30 mins every 2nd night... and remain acne free. I was scared of Accutane before I tried it - but aside from a little dryness (ok, well, a lot!), I was fine for 6 months on it.
  3. why don't you just buy some accutane online?
  4. Accutane was NO BIG DEAL at all for me. So stop generalizing it over your bad experience. The only long lasting side effect for me - is clear skin. And now who would want that???
  5. Thanks for the encouraging words mate! How long did it take for your acne to clear up? Considering you had mild acne to start with, did you experience an initial breakout?
  6. my acne was probably just a little bit worse than yours (though not much) when I started accutane... and it cleared me right up completely. i'm glad I took it. did 6 months at 40mg, 40, 60, 60, 80, 80. Just had dry skin and lips - no other side effects.
  7. i will admit that my acne isn't too too bad, but it just hasn't responded to anything over the course of a year and a half. since I'm leaving to go back to school this week, I had my derm give me my WHOLE course before I left. So, as of now, I weigh 175 lbs and I'm on 40mg / day for 6 straight months (or 24 weeks, or to be exact 168 days). I don't know whether i'm going to monitor myself and up my own dosage as time goes on though...
  8. Day 2 well, at the risk of sounding anti-climatic, I have nothing to really report. I've consumed my first two pills, and have yet to experience any side effects yet, nothing is dry, and I feel completely normal. Every 7th day I will be adding pics, so check back if you want to see how it's working for me.
  9. Hello everyone. Well, after a year and a half of pumping antibiotics into my body that have occasionally worked, I'm starting Accutane tomorrow. My treatments have included Minocycline, Bactrim, Duac, Blu-U Light Therapy, Chemical Peels, Differin, Tazorac (some of these medications have been used in combination with each other), my derm and I decided it's time for Accutane. Here are my before photos, all taken January 2nd, 2007. Right now I am a 175 lbs male (approx. 80 kg) who is taking 40 mg
  10. well, had my derm appointment today. he gave me all the accutane. He filled out a prescription for 24 weeks (6 months) and I'm apparently going to be taking one 40 mg tab per day the whole way through. Is that a little low for a male who is 21, 6'0, 175 lbs? He said he didn't go by the 0.5 - 1.0 mg / kg of body weight, he said he just likes to prescribe a fairly low dosage (well not that low) throughout the whole 6 months. When I get my pills tomorrow (prescription is being filled) I guess I'll
  11. what would you guys think a reasonable treatment for a male, age 20, 175 lbs? i mean i know my derm will decide... but, would 5 months going 40, 60, 80, 80, 80 sound good?
  12. So, I got an appointment with my derm next Tuesday Jan. 2nd. I've been seeing the guy for a year and a half, going through about 7 different medications for my mild/moderate persistant acne. Right now I am at home in Canada for the holidays, but I go to university in the United States. I leave to go back on Jan. 7th. Now, I know that my derm will have no problem with giving me Accutane based on my acne problems, as I saw him last in August where he gave me a whole bunch of prescriptions for Tazo
  13. i thought it was garbage. i'm a huge fan of topical retnoids, taz in particular, (not differin). never tried retin-a
  14. i've been on Tazorac for a month. went to very persistant and mild acne... to NO PIMPLES EVER now. you at least NEED to TRY it... maybe you'll have success like me!
