  1. My favorite lotion for severly dry skin is the classic Nivea Cream in the navy blue tub. But don't use it on your face!
  2. If you use triclosen... be prepared to always use triclosen!! It's an anti-bacterial, which means it kills bad bacteria along with the good bacteria that naturally fights that bad bacteria. So your skin becomes dependent on it and when you stop using it, you will break out for about 3 weeks until the good bacteria grows back. This is the same process that happens when people take antibiotic pills and end up with upset stomache and yeast infections. And St. Ives Apricot Scrub is too harsh for
  3. I found Neutrogena Moisture with SPF to be horribly greasy. I am very oily, and this made me look ridiculous! If you are very oily and want an SPF, you may just have to shell out the big bucks for Prescriptives... The Body Shop Seaweed Oil Free Moisturizer with SPF 15 is pretty good for under $20...
  4. Anyone who dabbles in BP needs to have a good oil-free moisturizer always on hand! I like Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Sensitive Skin, which is a lotion. You may want to even find a cream (in a jar) if you are reacting this badly...
  5. Don't use any anti-acne product near your eyes! Use an eye cream, at least before bed. The skin around the eye is never oily, so you don't need to be careful about what type of eye cream you choose... I use one by the Body Shop, but I'm sure that Olay and Loreal make good ones you can find at the drugstore. Look for ones that claim to prevent bags: they tighten the skin. They often contain caffeine. I'm a girl, so I use concealer (Prescriptives Camoflauge Cream) and a light diffusing powd
  6. I agree... this is what I use. I don't think $12 is expensive for a good moisturizer that will last you 6 months. If you need an SPF, try Prescriptives All You Need for Oily Skin ($40!)
  7. Loreal Ideal Balance Cream Cleanser is an effective cleanser that won't dry out or irritate your skin. Loreal Ideal Balance Cream Cleanser is an effective cleanser that won't dry out or irritate your skin. ... what I mean is that if you have to cleanse a third time, this is something gentle to try so you don't over-aggravate your skin
  8. I hate astringents. They just irritate my skin and make it sticky. I will use them to remove the grease from my T-zone in the afternoon so I don't have to completely wash my face and redo my makeup. I will also use them on my chest area before bed if I don't shower. But I don't recommend them as part of your skin cleaning regimen. If there is still dirt or makeup left on your face after you wash it, then you just need to wash it twice.
  9. If you are a girl, get on an appropriate birth control pill. Or else Accutane. Or move to the desert. Seriously, whenever I go to Nevada my skin looks wonderful. All these topical creams and gels are pretty worthless, in my opinion...
  10. hahaha yeah were talking about the same gunk. Its not oil look at it closer its just.....shit. Its gross. Yeah, St Ives does leave a weird residue in the tub... in fact i often wonder if it will cause a clogged drain. But the gunk isn't oil or dirt... its the little exfoliating bits from the St ives... And if there are any ladies out there suffering from acne who have never tried a low-dose birth control pill... go to Planned Parenthood and get on one already! I got on Ortho T
  11. I love my clinique gel moisturizer, works really well. i actually bummed some of that stuff of my mom, and i do like it. I'm a fan of Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Sensitive Skin (in a white box). If you want an SPF, the best is Prescriptives All You Need, which is at department stores like Nordstrom. They make one for oily skin (green) if you are oily.
  12. My god! What do you eat? Chicken and veggies? Do you get cranky?

  14. Try a 1 - 2% salicylic acid gel after cleansing, before bed. It will take at least a few weeks of using regularly before you see big results, though. But in the long run, its better than a manual scrub. And St. Ives is too harsh for the face. I use it on my armpits to unclog all the deodorant before I shave them!!!
  15. Has anyone heard that some doctors and scientists believe eating dairy products can accerbate acne? Has anyone tried going off dairy and had any success?
