  1. Scotty, I think a lot of acne treatments make your skin look worse at first. I do feel that each ingredient may counteract the other. Maybe if your skin became oily before that now with the salicylic acid and the BP you may not have that. Also, maybe this is just a temporary side effect and once your face gets used to the new balance it will adjust.   2. ](*,) The best over-the-counter remedy that works for me is a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide treatment. It will dry up any open pimples but it will also sting a little. First, wash your face with a mild, non-drying cleanser. I have very dry skin so I find the best is Non-Drying Cleansing Lotion For Sensitive Skin by Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories.
