  1. Hi all. Learned much from reading this forum the last few weeks but im still kind of at a loss on where im going, what i have, and what i should be doing. Guess this will be long to accurately describe whats going on. 42 yr male, lifelong acne sufferer. Have had it mostly under control using rx topicals. Mid january, these topicals started to burn my face off. Severe stinging, general irritation, bright red cheek bones. Derm only prescribed a topical hydrocortisone to be used for a cpl weeks a

Does This Look Like Regular Acne?

Well, Id take these any day over giant inflamed zits. Anyway, since it is minor, you may want to check the over the counter stuff first. There's lots of products out there. Some work for some, some dont. Trial and error. There's also may topicals you can get from a dermatologist (too many to list). You may also wish to check put the product reviews (both OTC and prescription) and read what people have to say before making a selection. Just keep in mind that the complainers tend to make mo

Does This Look Like Regular Acne?

To me, it looks like your typical minor acne. What meds have you tried to alleviate this?

    Is Bactrim Failing?

Ev1 is different but you should give the antibiotic at least 8 weeks to make a judgment whether it is helping or not, especially if you are dealing cystic and/or severe acne. Best of luck

    Help..question With Cortisone Shot

ive always been told to massage the spot after the shot just by rubbing it so the cortisone gets dispersed evenly. Also, if the derm that did it this time around used more than they should have, that could cause some irritation. Id massage the area, if you havent already, and over night, apply a little neosporin and cover w/ a bandaid. Good luck

    Aczone Routine?

Im 38 and have used aczone. Do not spot treat BP after using aczone. I think you'd be much better off w/ BP in the morning and Aczone in the evening (will save your bedsheets from bleaching). Aczone is great for inflammatory acne. Ive used for a couple years. It is much more effective at knocking out current acne than preventing new ones from forming, in my opinion. I currently only use as a spot treatment now, after several months of using aczone alone all over the face. If you hav

    Bactrim = Septra?

Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole The drug has been marketed worldwide as generic preparations and under multiple brand names, including Septra (GSK) and Bactrim (Roche) Same thing
  8. I think they were burned off. It is 9 days later now and there is no scabbing, but the area where they were removed is quite red. I just took this picture right now. Will this redness fade ever or have I replaced tiny enlarged pores for red scars? Sorry, I dont see a pic posted. Mine stayed red but it didnt really bother me. I had 3 done in inconspicuous spots on my face. They were red for a bit and then just faded. How many did you have done at 1 time? Try putting some neosporin on th

    Horrible Cystic Flareup

Ironic; I had a very bad cystic breakout on a college class trip to DC. Went to all kinds of museums, landmarks, even sat in a Supreme Court Case. Sadly I have no details of anything that happened that weekend as all of my thoughts were consumed w/ my appearance.

    Horrible Cystic Flareup

I was, but to be honest, since I had such a bad initial breakout, my pores were relatively clear and I was able to maintain a mostly clear complexion w/ just topicals. My theory, and I dont have any proof to support it, was that since all (most) of my pores were clear from this initial breakout, the topicals were able to their job much more effectively. If the pores are so clogged, the meds from topicals are unable to fully do their job, which is why topicals alone never did it for me. But wh
  12. I would say to address recurring cysts to either get a cortisone shot or to have them professionally excised. Please discuss w/ a derm.

    Horrible Cystic Flareup

I feel for you and your son for what he is going thru. I know its of no consolation but accutane is going to bring all that stuff to the surface during his initial breakout. What was his acne like before accutane? Was it severe/cystic which what appears to happening now? I was only on accutane for 2 months as my blood test results werent condusive for me to continue. However, I did go thru that initial breakout part, and started like a week in and lasted til my 60th day when I was forced of
  14. im sorry but i cant see your pics but Ive had hyperplasia addressed. Were they removed or burned off w/ a little pen-like wand? If you just had them done, the skin surrounding is just irritated and inflamed and Im confident they will go back to normal soon. Mine were slightly raised and red but fine the next day. They scabbed up and those were gone in a little more than a week

    Amoxicillin Replacement?

Other than the ones I have listed, I haven't really tried anything else other than commercial acne products. My amoxicillin is still working, but I would really like to find something that gets rid of my acne and not just supresses it, if that makes any sense. The moment I stop taking amoxicillin everything starts to come back. I hoping to find somekind of alternative that gets rid of my acne in which it supresses it like amoxicillin, but also heals my body so it won't produce more. That's p
