  1. I still get one every now and then. But the big difference for me is that it's not like the big cystic kind I used to get. And it takes significantly less time to heal- so I don't always have a red mark left after it's gone. So, getting one minor blemish every couple months is great for me, compared to the thirty I had when I started the regimen. It would be ridiculous to complain about an occasional blemish, because I know how much worse it can be! I still apply the bp twice daily because I
  2. I agree with "tiggerific" that after a while it does naturally become part of your routine just like brushing your teeth. I used to have the mindset of "Why should I have to work so hard to have nice skin when so many people don't even wash their faces!" But I'm over that now and I feel like "If I want beautiful skin, this is the way it HAS to be." And it sure is worth the extra effort!
  3. I've been clear for about 5 1/2 years. I followed the regimen exactly until I was clear (about 8 weeks). Then, I slowly started to "tweak" it a little here and there. Sometimes I had good results, other times it just didn't "fly". You just learn as you go. But at this point, I use half the BP I did in the beginning and I still stay clear. I also don't need to wait after washing to apply BP. As soon as it dries, I moisturize. So, after all these years, it doesn't take too much time or effort to
  4. Hi there! Just wanted to stop by and check the boards out. I haven't been on here in quite some time, but I wanted to say that I've been clear for 5+ years now! I still look in the mirror all the time and think of how grateful I am to have stumbled upon this website in June or July of 2005! I was a little skeptical at first, but I am SO very glad I stayed with it. I had moderate to severe acne from the time I was about 20 until I was 28 when I found this site. So, needless to say, I had scarr
  5. I have emailed companies like JASON and let them know that I have acne prone skin and want to know if the products are safe for my skin type. They're usually pretty good about recommending something else if it isn't right for me. I have tried a couple natural products (cleansers and moisturizers) and within 1-2 weeks my skin went crazy. After switching back to my normal cleanser, my skin responded well within a few days. So be careful with those natural products. I love them for my hair, body,
  6. It's been a while, but from what I remember I started to see a fair amount of improvement after about 5-6 weeks, much better by 8 weeks, and was basically clear around 10 weeks. This was over 3 years ago, and I couldn't be happier with my skin. I had moderate acne (some cystic) for about 8 years and it's an amazing feeling to look in the mirror and just see "you". It can be a very trying time during the first few months of this regimen, but if it works for you , I promise it will be worth it
  7. I have used baking soda with the regimen. I wouldn't say it helped with clearing my skin or keeping it clear, but it definitely helps with exfoliating any flakes I may get occasionally. I like how gentle it is and how soft it makes my skin feel. You may want to see how your skin reacts to the BP treatment before you use baking soda (in the first few weeks) because you don't want to irritate your skin further until you adjust to the BP. I did want to add- when I used Cetaphil my acne was worse.
  8. I would definitely use the moisturizer at night. Chances are, you're going to experience dryness. It can be bothersome at first, and the moisturizer is like a "treat" each time you apply it. It's all worth it in the end, though!
  9. I had a facial this weekend, and they asked beforehand what products I use on my skin daily. I explained that I use 2.5% twice daily and how much I use. She was very concerned when she heard what I had been doing (had never heard of someone using BP in that manner). When she took a look at my skin, she said she couldn't believe how healthy and hydrated and clear my skin actually was. In fact, she had a hard time believing that I had moderate/severe cystic acne 2 years ago. She was so impresse
  10. My grandfather had the same problem with his hands and he used a thick layer of Vaseline and then put on a pair of disposable rubber gloves. Then he just wore it around the house for a while. Maybe you could combine that with your regular moisturizing. Are you able to wear gloves at work? ~Lisa~
  11. I tried researching this before I posted this question, but didn't find what I was looking for. So, my question is- What type of redness are people experiencing? i.e. redness related to more dryness, or redness like your face is "flushed"? I've been clear for about 6 months or so, and the past month or two I've noticed that my face looks flushed the majority of the time and if I get warm or even lean over to pick something up, my entire face looks like I've been in a steam room for hours.
  12. I told my derm. about the regimen and showed him the bp and he said, "Go for it." He read the label, and asked how much I spent on it. When I told him how much, he was very surprised and said, "You can't beat that price for that much product. And there's nothing in here that's going to "hurt" you." He did mention how drying it would be, but besides that he was surprisingly very supportive.
  13. I started to gently exfoliate with a soft washcloth a couple times a week (after I'd been on the regimen for a few months and 100% clear). It makes a huge difference in the way my skin looks (much smoother and very few flaky spots).
  14. I've been on the regimen for over 5 months now and after staying clear for about 3 months, I started to gradually use a little less bp. I still do the regimen 2 times a day, but I use about a 1/2 finger of bp. My acne was moderate before I began the regimen and I'm still staying clear even with using a little less. ~Lisa~
