  1. I started getting the shot about a year ago, around the same time I started breaking out. I've had cystic acne in the past and took accutane about nine years ago. I know acne is a side effect of depo provera- so that may have caused my break out, or it may have happened regardless (I'm currently on a second round of accutane). I was just wondering if anyone else here had an experience with the shot- good, bad, or indifferent. Thanks!
  2. I'm on my 5th month on accutane, and I love Dr. Dan's. It works really well and you don't have to apply it too often. It takes care of those yucky cracks in the corners of your lips too. Aquaphor also works really well. It can be kind of glossy, though- you might not like that. I use Dr. Dan's during the day and put on some Aquaphor at night. My derm made a comment at my last appointment that my lips looked great- I guess most of his patients have problems with their lips while on accutane
  3. I'm at the end of my third month, too. I'm not really dry either. I was at first, but I guess my body adjusted. I flush really easily now, too. I do normally anyway, but now it's way worse. I was looking at some pictures of myself and I look like a big ol' lobster(and I avoid the sun like the plague). My derm said it was normal and not to worry about it.
  4. I'm on my third month of accutane and my hair is all bleached. I've been keeping it up the entire time so far, and have not had any problems. It's a little drier than usual, but I just use tons of conditioner and extra conditioning treatments. But that's not bad, and I've not had any excessive hair loss either. You should be fine! Just keep it conditioned and I'm sure you won't have any problems. I hope it turns out well there's nothing better than some time at the salon!
  5. How strange- I've been having problems with ingrown toenails lately and I've never had that before. I never thought that it was because I'm on accutane. Sucks that there's nothing to do for it though...it hurts. I spend most of my day teaching in my bare feet!
  6. Okay, off topic, but where do you live in Florida? Do you like it there? I'm thinking of moving...I guess they need teachers there...
  7. ooohhh, you are extra cute! Probably even more so without the emo hair now Good luck- but I'm sure you're hot even with bad skin. Some of us just can't help it....
  8. Thanks for the compliments about my pics! That was sweet. I'm on my second round of accutane, my first was about ten years ago for severe cystic acne. I'm in my third month and I haven't really seen dramatic changes yet. Maybe it's just me, though. I still have tons of red marks and get pimples every once in a while. It also looks like I have tons of scarring, which sucks because my acne is/was pretty mild, and I didn't scar much from the cystic acne I had before. Hopefully you'll clear
  9. I agree with Funman. That's what my derm told me, too. I've done some research, and I'm not sure of the exact statistics, but the suicide rate among accutane users is lower than that of the general population.
  10. I started on the same dose. I swear, I did the same thing, though. I kept thinking that I was having all these side effects the first week, and then when they really started to happen, I realized I was spending too much time on acne.org! I promise I'm not making fun, I just think we get concerned when we hear about how awful accutane can be, so we tend to worry about it too much.
  11. I take mine spaced apart during the day- one after breakfast and one after dinner. But I have to say, I can't imagine that you'd be experiencing any side effects on your first day of accutane...maybe it's a little in your head...I got that way at first, too. It took a couple weeks for it to actually kick in, though. Good luck! I hope it works out well for you!
  12. I use mineral makeup- Aromaleigh- and I've noticed that it lasts all day. I used to hate it when my makeup was gone at the end of the day, but it's not a problem any more with mineral makeup. You might want to try it. You can get samples from most of the different companies over the internet. Everyone's skin is different so what works for me might not be good for you, but it's worth a try. Good luck!
  13. Oooh...I've been thinking about this a lot lately- I have baby fever! Of course, I'd have to wait til I got off accutane, but I've been mulling it over... Bad skin runs in my family. My mother, brother, and I have all taken accutane. So has my boyfriend (who, incidently, would be the father of any babies). And he gets huge, scary cysts to this day. Then with the way they seem to be trying to pull accutane off the market, I worry that my kids would not only have terrible acne, but wouldn'
