  2. Hello, I'm on my 11th week of treatment @40mg/day of Claravis (generic Isotretinoin) for moderate acne (a couple of cystic lesions per week, very oily skin). I am a 31 year old male, 190 lbs. I don't seem to be getting "new" inflamed lesions but have tons of closed comedones around my jawline and cheeks. These were not there prior to starting the Claravis and started showing up about 4 weeks into treatment. If I taut my skin I can see the white comedone under the skin. They are not terri
  3. Hello, I believe I have glandular rosacea, which was defined by MDs a few years ago as a phenotype of Rosacea in a paper published in the Journal of Dermatology (see link below). I have very oily skin, with inflammatory lesions (papules, pustules, and deep nodules) mainly on cheeks and chin. Also, I've had issues with acne since I was 15 and have thick skin, large pores and sebaceous hyperplasia (all common in glandular rosacea). I believe that excessive blood flow on the face is the major
  4. Hello, Four months ago I had to go on Claravis (generic isotretinoin) because I was getting deep cystic lesions on my face which to this day I'm not sure are related to rosacea or acne. The derm said that they are acne related. The lesions would have a head and when they would come to the surface I could pop them removing a hard plug along with pus and blood. I am on my 4th month now. I weight about 200 lbs (male). I started at 40 mg for 1 month, then 60 mg for 2 months, and now at 8
  5. Good news, for you that's great! What antihistamine are you taking, how much how often? Have you discovered other foods that break you out? Does this mean you can eat tomatoes now? I'm not sure yet. I was taking generic 24 hour Zyrtec. A few days ago I switched to 12 hr generic Chlor Trimeton. I don't want to stay too long on one kind just to prevent my body from becoming used to it. I hope this doesn't change things. I still haven't changed my diet so I'm not sure if it is the antihis
  6. It has been 5 weeks since I started a new diet and the daily antihistamine. I have not gotten a single pimple on my face. This is quite remarkable considering that I was getting a couple of cysts every week. At this point I don't know if it is the new diet or the daily antihistamine. I will have to stop the daily antihistamine and see if that makes an effect.
  7. Have you considered maybe its not the tomatoes but salt? Many people notice breakouts even with small amounts of salt and the ketchup, cured meat and even dried fruit you're eating might have salt. What kind of dried fruit did you notice made you break out? Does it include raisins at all? I'm fairly certain is not the salt. I also break out if I eat raw tomatoes. With no salt whatsoever. In regards to the dried fruits, I would break out from eating any kind of dried fruit, raisins includ
  8. Quick bio: have had acne since the age of 15 (currently 29). Have taken 4 courses of Accutane throughout (the last one several years ago). At a casual observation I noticed that certain foods triggered breakouts on my face and back. I pin pointed tomatoes (i.e. raw, tomato sauce, ketchup, etc), wine, certain beers, dried fruits, cured meats, etc. More interestingly, I noticed that certain foods not only triggered breakouts but triggered them in particular locations of my body. For example, t
  9. Hi, about once a week I have a pimple form on my chin. I noticed that I can actually see the plug (sometimes in the hair follicle encapsulating the hair strand). These plugs sometimes are hard and I can prick them with my finger. I can sometimes push them out with my tongue as I am doing in the picture. The plug does not seem deep, but for some reason my skin seems to be over reacting to the plug and creating lots of pain and inflammation. If the plug is soft and easily comes out it won't c
  10. I am not a big believer that food plays an IMPORTANT role in acne. However, a couple of weeks ago I introduced salmon to my diet to have more variety and to enjoy the benefits of omega 3s. But ever since I started eating it I have developed these big hard bumps (slightly red) on my chin. They feel really hard to the touch and are painful. The strange thing is that they don't develop like acne bumps. They literally appear over a couple of hours and stay for 3-4 days. These bumps have no hea
  11. Do you get the same effect of taking 20mg of Accutane once a week as 2.5mg per day? Maybe taking a very small daily dose rather than taking a relatively larger once a week dose beneficial since I would think the Accutane would be in the bloodstream all throughout the week?
