  1. I think you are right about the stress thing. There are a lot of other things going on in my life right now that are causing a considerable amount of stress. I am trying to relax to bring my stress levels down; we'll see if that helps. I think I am going to hold off on trying a new product, I don't want to overreact and make the situation worse.
  2. Hello everyone. I am 32 years old and have had acne since I was 13. About two and a half years ago I stumbled upon my "holy grail" of acne treatment; vitamin B5 and the AcneFree three part system. After about a month of using this combintation my skin was virtually 100% clear and remained that way up until about two weeks ago when all of a sudden my skin broke out in a manner that I have not seen in years! My cheeks are covered with red marks and even my forehead and chin are breaking out; those
  3. I know there are several blogs already discussing the AcneFree vs. Proactiv battle but I wanted to start my own mainly because I am so impressed with the product. I used Proactiv years ago and at first it did a fair job of controlling my acne but never gave me sustained clarity over time. After being on it for about a year I started getting really bad breakouts and the product was no longer effective at treating my acne. I saw AcneFree at a local Walgreens and after doing a good amount of resear
  4. I just started using AcneFree one week ago after suffering a huge breakout around my chin and mouth. In a weeks time the breakout is almost completely cleared up. I haven't experienced any over drying or burning at all so as of right now things are looking good.
  5. I am also taking the GNC brand and have had mixed result. I was able to clear up taking just 5 grams per day but I recently got a bad break out for some reason and the 5 gram dosage doesn't seem to be helping anymore. I have increased now to 8 grams a day to see what happens. It sucks taking so many pills per day but I guess you have do what you have to do.
  6. If Vitacure cleared you why did you switch????????? There are differences in the type of B5 that companies use. Some are pure B5, others are not, and that is why some work and some don't. Vitacure is the only brand that has ever worked for me and I wouldn't change it for the world and i would recommend it to the world. Yes, it might be a bit costly, but once you are clear, you cut right back on the dosage and it doesn't cost you half as much to stay clear. GET BACK ON VITACURE!!!
  7. I am at my wits end with this one. I simply don't understand how one brand of B5 (pantothenic acid) can differ from another one. But there has to be a difference because when I was using the VitaCure brand I was 100% clear within three months of taking 10 grams a day. I then switched to a powder form from Acne Worry who only suggested taking 2 grams a day and I was able to maintain my clarity for a few months time. Then all of a sudden I started to get breakouts again so I decided to switch to t
  8. Yes and no. I worked with a girl who from a distance looked great but that was because she caked on foundation which made her skin appear smooth. When you got up close to her you could see how bad her skin was underneath and all of the makeup was actually making it worse. So wearing makeup is a double-edged sword for women I believe.
  9. Hey don't feel bad, when my little sister say me recently the first thing out of her mouth was: "What happend to your face!!" Needless to say it hurt but I laughed it off; she was not being malicious she was just speaking her mind.
  10. Have you taken any extra vitamin supplements out of interest (especially anything containing biotin), one theory was that biotin counteracts the B5 (although some supps for acne contain biotin as well which seems to conflict with that). Just wondering if anything like that you were taking. Did increasing to 5 grams help? Just wondering if the level you were on was just a bit too low and took time for it to be evident. Did you notice anything else like oilier skin for example as well ?
  11. Hey I know exactly how you feel; I am 29 and have had acne since I was 13. I went on Accutance when I was 18 and had perfect skin until I was 26. Then for some odd reason my skin went crazy and right now it is as bad as it has been in years. You would think that at our ages we would be well rid of acne but apparently we are not that lucky. I turn 30 in July, my goal is to be clear by then....hopefully.
  12. Avoid the time release B5 at all costs! I was taking 5 grams a day of the GNC brand of pantothenic acid and was perfectly clear. I switched to the time release version from the Vitamin Shop which was $2 dollars cheaper and within a week my acne came back with a vengence.
  13. I have been taking B5 for my acne for about a year and a half now and up until about three weeks ago I was 100% clear. Then all of a sudden I suffered the worst breakout I have had since I was 18, I am now 29 years old. It doesn't make any sense because I haven't changed my diet or changed my dosage of B5 other than increasing it from 2 grams to 5 grams once the breakouts started. This is very disheartening considering that I thought I had finally found my answer for acne. Has anyone else had th
  14. I did a course of Accutane when I was 18 and it cleared me up 100%. It wasn't until I turned 26 that my acne came back for some odd reason. The derm I spoke to told me that my acne was not severe enough to do a second course of Accutane.
