  1. The best thing that has helped with my blackheads (on both my nose and chin) would be Paulas Choice 1% BHA Lotion. They also just came out with a 1% BHA Gel, which seems like it would take a better swing at clearing blackheads because the lotion can cause the pore too much moisture. But definitly try it, its helped me tons! Nikki
  2. Im with you, on how a cleanser should be. The best fragrance free, dye free, and SA/BP free, menthal free cleanser is Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash. You get 6 oz of a water based gel for about 8-10$ at your local drugstore/target/walmart. It rinses clean and doesn't irrirate the skin. Using a cleanser such as this-with no added ingredience will not irrirate or promote more breakouts. It just gently cleanses the skin. -Nikki- P.s. Using the Clean and Clear Blackhead scrub is fine. However, b
  3. When getting a new moisturizer you should look for the following things: *Fragance free *Oil Free Now, just because a moisturizer says that it is oil free, do not be mistaken. You have to take it upon yourself to look at the ingredience list. Quite a few moisturizers use "oils" and can contribute to acne. For example, many people think that Natural Lanolin Oil caused acne but infact it doesn't. However, it is Synthetic Lanolins (man-made) that can cause acne and leave your face feeling oily/g
  4. A moisturizer isn't a must. Unless you have dry skin you should use a moisturizer in the morning and at night, or which-ever works out the best for you. A moisturizer should only be used when you feel that your skin needs to be moisturized. I find that the best time for me to apply moisturizer is in the evenings, this is because my skin can get quite oily during the day therefore opposing the need for me to use anykind of moisturizer in the morning/daytime.
  5. Yes, my doctor had prescribed this acne medication to me, roughly about 4 weeks ago. It is to be used on moderate to slightly acne prone skin. Before using Clindagel or Clindamycin Phosphate Topical Gel, I used Paulas Choice Skin Care products to help with my acne. I still do, but I don't incorperate the 2.5% Benzyl Peroixde nearly as much as I used to 4-5 weeks ago. Also, I find that I only need to apply my Paulas Choice 1% Beta Hydroxy Acid Gel 3-4 times weekly (in evening) than I used to whic
  6. Lol. I really think you should do some research. (Not trying to me rude). To answer your question, no, Aloe Vera will not clog the pores (it's not Comeogenic). Aloe Vera helps the skin. It has healing properties. This is why we put it on our skin when we get burn, cuts, or whatever else we encounter. Aloe vera lighty moisturizes the skin while penetrating into the pores of the skin to help sooth the cells. It will not effect your skin upon exposure to sunlight. (hehe) It will reduce redn
  7. No. Combining the two (Differin gel and 100% Aloe Vera Gel) will not effect or irritate the skin. It shouldn't. This is because Aloe V. helps the skin. It penetrates into the pores of the skin to help sooth them of any irritants and Aloe V. helps to lightly moisturize the pores of the skin. It has healing properties. That is why we use this great stuff on burns, cuts, and whatever else we may encounter. I do not see why combining the two products would hurt the skin.
  8. I agree with the poster above. I used ProActive about a year and a half ago. However, my skin was only clear for 7 months after using it and then it back-fired on me. It will give you nice results in the beginning but it isn't for long.. Just my opinion however. Nikki
  9. I do agree with Jen above. I have tried Clinique's cleansing bar in Mild. It was bad. The only nice thing was that it smelt like vanilla. It did end up clogging my pores and it dried up my skin. However, Clinique's skin care line is something else. Some people like, some hate it. -Nikki-
  10. Yes I too love this 100% Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel. I found it to be a little drying at first but keep with it for a few more days. It's only drying on the surrface of the skin because it helps heal the other layers of the skin first. It is a must have! -Nikki-
  11. What I ment is, don't touch the area. And it doesn't matter the size, they could be cystic.
  12. Dry skin.. Putting on a nice moisturizer won't help your skin skin completely. This is due to the dead skin cells just lingering on the surface of face. I would exfoliate with a nice gentle scrub and then put on your regular moisturizer. Having you exfoliated the dead skin cells off your face will allow the moisturizer to seep better into your skin. For a cheap and effective and gentle scrub use baking sode mixed into your normal cleanser. No more than a half of teaspoon of baking soda and
  13. Sounds like these under the neath pimples are two cystic pimples. Like the poster above me said, don't touch it or pick at it. If you do, it will take a lot longer to heal.
  14. If you're using a BHA Cleanser, you can use it everyday morning and night. However, if you're experiencing dryness , change it to using it every other day. If you're using a scrub cleanser, use it only two or three times a week. Using a scrub every day will more than lkely dry and irriate the skin further. -Nikki-
  15. A lot of these ingredients are Comedogent. Marigold, Hemp Oil, Sunflower Oil, Primrose Oil, Borage Oil, Blackcurrant Oil, Almond Oil, Methyl Glucose Sesquisterate, Fragrance. My advice would be to stay away from this moisterizer. You can always return it!
  16. Using both at the same time can dry or irriatate the skin. If you're having some success with the BP I say keep up with it.
  17. Exfoliants are good for the skin. It just depends how often you use them. The number one reason why acne forms is beacuse of dead skin cells getting trapped into the pore. To prevent this from occurring, you need to exfoliate the skin, gently. This can be done. Many people think exfoliating as harsh srcubs and irritated, sore, dry, red skin. BHA's and AHA's are actually very good exfoliants rather than scrubs. Liquid exfoliants are the worst. They contain irritating chemicals and ingre
  18. Haha. Thats funny. I believe there was a simular post like this not to long ago. Believe me, don't waste your $200.00+ You can do a lot more with your money than buy into some gimmick like this.
  19. Malic acid is a naturally occurring compound that plays a role in the complex process of deriving ATPâ€â€the energy currency that runs the bodyâ€â€from food. Malic acid is found in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, but the richest source is apples, which is why malic acid is sometimes referred to as “apple acid.â€? You should no result in any problems to this substance, since the body can actually produce Malic acid. If you would like to read the longer version of thi
  20. You could also try Tea Tree Oil. Tea Tree Oil is a widely used disinfectant and antiseptic that kills fungus and a broad range of bacteria, including the acne bacteria. The active substances in tea tree oil are terpenes. Tea tree oil speeds the healing of minor cuts and scrapes. It is good for all kinds of infections, including athlete's foot and fungal infections of the toenails and fingernails that are resistant to antibiotics. I found out that there was a study done showing that a 5% solution
  21. You can buy a good AHA from your local drugstore or Target (They always seem to have everything!) - Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Creme - Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner
  22. I don't know how that could reduce red marks on your skin. All the cold water is doing is closing up your pores. No oxygen can get into them, which, then your pores cannot breathe. -Nikki-
  23. What is your current skin care routine? Mine is as follows: Morning: - Paulas Choice One Step Cleanser for Normal-Combination Skin - Paulas Choice 2% BHA Lotion - Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer OR Fruit of the Earth 100% Aloe Vera Gel - Equate 10% Maxium Strenght BPO *spot treatment only!* *Only use if i need it* Night: - Paulas Choice One Step Cleanser for Normal-Combination Skin - Paulas Choice One Step Toner *Only if I wear makeup that day, I will use this* - Paulas C
