  1. Can any one recommend a topical that can help oil reduction ? Would calamine lotion help ? Thanks
  2. Hey Mesha,I forgot to respond to your PM but I will soon. Just wanted to ask if you tried honey masks. Zinc can be a bit drying, esp. in the winter. Hi wishclean, Thanks for responding :) I haven't tried a honey mask, I'm very nervous about using one as my skin is now so sensitive, for example , if my hair brushes against my face I usually end up with a breakout on that area. I am not doing the caveman regimen as such, but I've only washed my face in warm water for about 6 months and I do
  3. Due to the onset of winter in the uk I am experiencing blotchy, dry, cracking , bleeding and painful skin. I have been using a zinc gel on my active acne during the summer and have still been applying it this past week but I really need to put something on my skin that won't cause a flare up, but that will aid healing and that I can maybe apply once every couple of days. I have extremely dry skin, but it also has a tendency to be combination also. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated. Thank
  4. Disheartened today. Ist day of my period and 3 big and very painful acne's, one on my shoulder (?) One on my hair line and one above my lip. The joy of hormones. Still waiting to have my bloods done for hormone testing, too under weight at the moment, collapsed at last attempt. Still, at least its the weekend , so I don't have to leave the house
  5. That's you, most of us aren't gonna be past out early twenties with it. I've had it twice before. Both times treatments cleared me for approx 10 yrs. Then it came back. I hope everyone is sucessful in finding a treatment that works. Had it twice what do you mean?? Like I said, most people outgrow it in their early 20s. I had acne at 15, I don't remember having any treatement so I'm guessing I grew out of it ? I didn't have it by the age of 16. When I was 27 it came back. I had treatment

  8. I'm 41 heitea..and I'm tired of it. Tried to avoid mirrorr checking but just gave up with that today and carried the compact about with me. Heart plummets to the floor at each check. Look / don't look..its still there.
  9. Monday mornings are bad enough, without 3 new bumps and a white head on my chin. I'm told old for this...
  10. I've done some reading and research in relation to the info you have given and its quite possible that I have a rise in estrogen during the luteal phase, with not enough progesterone to balance things out. At least now I have a better understanding. I think I'm doing all I can regarding my diet and supplements. Also, thanks for the information about the progesterone creams. I'll certainly look into that too.
  11. Thanks for your reply , hearts. Yes, I agree it's strange. Most women flare up the week before and during and looking back, I do remember this happening to me also, occasionally. But as a general rule, I'm usually the clearest I can be the week before and the days during. It's odd. I tend to flare up at my worst during and after ovulation and then this lasts until the week before I'm due again. I do try to have a clean diet and I avoid plastics . I have cut all dairy, sugar and have incre
  12. Hi, Do any of you ladies know why acne almost clears the week before and the 4/5 days during the menstrual cycle? I have read and learnt lots of useful things from you all on here , but I can't find the answer to that particular question. Is it because androgens are lower at this time in the cycle ? (I don't take any BC) Thanks, in advance.
  13. I know how you guys feel. I have 'the fear' every single morning and am constantly mirror checking throughout the day. Sadly, I am usually right and when I feel the tingling under my skin, a new one usually pops up within 24 hrs. The joys of acne..
  14. I want to let you know you are not alone in this battle. I'm 41 and in a similar acne situation to you. I first developed acne in my late 20's and ruined my gut and immune system by taking anti biotics for 3 yrs. (The acne did go away)This year, after 11 yrs clear, the acne is back.I've felt suicidal, angry and everything inbetween, but I've received so much support and useful advice on this site that I'm 80 percent clear at the moment and seeing a derm end of August. Please check out both the
  15. How do I feel about my acne today ?...;''List of expletives'' Wish it would just GO AWAY !!
  16. First, I just want to apologize because I realise I keep talking to people on here and I'm getting names wrong. I have a condition called Fibromyalgia which has many, many symptoms I won't go in detail about here, coz this is for acne support, BUT it includes 'brain Fog' and when I get tired I literally cannot think / remember / be coherent. Apologies. Gunnke, thanks too for your support. Massive help to know I'm not the only 40 year old still struggling along with this. Always good to chat.
  17. Gunnke, The pics of your skin look great ! Really, can hardly see anything and like 'like moonlight' said , if I saw you on the street I would never think acne. I know it must have been difficult for you to post them after your experience with the therapist, but well done you ! And thanks for sharing..... I'm a little bit envious ! Lol.....
  18. Just wanted to say hi to everyone as am feeling totally fed up this morning. Wishclean, I will pray for you and hope that things untangle and get better for you soon. I had 2 coffes last wee and had no choice but to take milk(yuk!) Broke out with 24 hours..
  19. Totally get where you are coming from Mesha so don`t think that you are the only one. I avoid social situations too because I feel too self-conscious to enjoy myself. It's rubbish though, isn't it ? I feel like I'm loosing my mind at times. No one I know has a spot , let alone this. People I bump into wonder what's happened to me. I wonder what's happened to me. Every one was having a great time drinking and eating crap, I'm stood there , clutching my bottle of water, eating nuts! I am nuts no
  20. Really down tonight...went out to a local music festival, first time I've been out in months, saw some friends I haven't seen for a year. Get home, check mirror, heart sinks. I'm sick of this, better off staying in. Will do next time.
  21. I was clear for 11 years, till it eventually came back. For those of you who have never had anytime clear, believe me, it is everything you all talk and think about on here. It makes you confident to go out and do all the things you want to do (work, study, socialise, relationships) if you ever have a period of clear skin, MAKE THE MOST OF IT !! As the chuffin thing will probably come back. (Mine has, I'm beyond guttered)
  22. Clear skin. Nothing compares to it. I've had a few yrs with it and I know the peace and confidence it brings back.
  23. Try a large glass of prune juice at night. Also make sure you drink lots of water during the day.
  24. My digestive system is shot. I've been taking fybogel for years (not something I would advise, I could not 'go' without taking it) Since I've been having my fruit and green veg combi smoothie (which I make myself) and 30mg of pumpkin and sunflower seeds each day, I can 'go' without them. hope this helps a bit ? I'm aware everyone is different.
