    Pre- Challenge

Hey, This is just advice from someone who has been through what you are going through now. I commend you on your challenge to stop picking at acne spots. If you have health insurance get on an antibiotic called amoxicillin or cephalexin. Or at least ask for those, and see what your dermatologist will give you. A birth control also greatly improves acne. Gets rid of almost all of it after a few weeks. Stopping picking is very hard to do so focus also greatly on stopping new pimples f

    Caveman Regimen- First Week

CAVEMAN is the most ineffective routine. It is not medically supervised nor under the advise of any dermatologist. One, you need a sunscreen. Everyone does. You also need to clear out your pores like with tretinoin. You also need an antibiotic to prevent large cysts. If you are female, Birth control pills and spironolactone. Please don't know this. It will only ruin your face. Other have done it. It never works long term. You will have so much dirt and oil plugging your pores, you will be ve

    2 Months On The Regimen

Try antibiotics like amoxicillin. Works really super well. For the acne around your period try birth control pills. They are often prescribed for acne. Avoid Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella, they are less safe because they have a synthetic form of progesterone hormone called drisperinone. Drisperinone is not actually super safe but Sprintec, Tri-Sprintec, Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, Demulen and others. BP only works with smaller zits but for hormonal acne you really need to address that with hormonal treatments. B

    Amazingly Clear Without Antibiotics!

My new regimen is getting on famously. My regimen is now: 100mg spiro Ortho tri-cyclen benzaclin tretinoin

My Background Story. The Battle Continues.

Only tip I would give you is ask for amoxicillin instead of minocycline. Minocycline is less effective (Way Less) and it has bizarre side effects like leaving blue bumps and discolorations on the face. Otherwise, your regimen sounds awesome and you will get clear. I guarantee it !!! See: http://antibiotics.emedtv.com/minocycline/minocycline-side-effects-p2.html "Darkening of skin, eye, or nail pigment (often a purple, blue, or gray, bruise-like appearance)"

    Day 9

Ditch "The Regimen" you need an FDA approved birth control pill that stops acne breakouts like Ortho-Tri-Cyclen or Sprintec-28. Avoid Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella due to risk of pulmonary embolism. Also, add Spironolactone, Amoxicillin , tretinoin and Acanya=Benzoyl peroxide 5% + Clindamycin Phospahte (topical antibiotic). Schedule with a Dermatologist right away. That is MY regimen and I rarely get a single zit. maybe five zits PER YEAR!!!! NO JOKES!!! I used to have continual and massive br

    Day 1: The Revelation

Ditch the Minocycline, use cephalexin or amoxicillin instead and ditch beyaz in favor of Sprintec-28 or Ortho-Tri-Cyclen because drisperinone in Yaz causes major blood clots like 300% more than normal BC pills. "Beyaz increases the risk of serious conditions including blood clots, stroke, and heart attack."http://beyaz.com/ See: http://www.ehealthme.com/compare_drug_interactions_side_effects/Yaz-3105353

18 Days On Isotrex And Minocin: Spoke Too Soon

Have you thought of trying amoxicillin or cephalexin? Minocycline is awful. Does very little to clear acne. In fact I have the strange bluish spots on my face now. And my dermatologist asked me if I had taken minocycline recently. She told me that minocycline causes discolorations in the face that are permanent. OKOK, other exciting news, I use cephalexin, benzaclin, tretinoin, and spironolactone. I am also taking , newly, monophasic Yasmin continuous without period. Really clears acne. PEACE G

    Day 5 Accutane

One of the things that may help keep your skin calm while you are on accutane and afterwards as well, is Tri-Sprintec birth control pill. I say this since your acne is hormonal. Good luck! I don't think that usig an oil free moisturizer will hurt. Peace to you!

    It Has Been A While!

I think getting back on Tri-Sprintec is brilliant. I take Tri-Sprintec, spironolactone, use tretinoin, benzaclin take cephalexin 500mg 3x a day. I have ONE zit every three months at the max. Swear to god.

    Over A Week In...

Hey, glad to hear you are a class model. Which birth control pill are you on. I take Tri-Sprintec and spironolactone. I have one pimple every 3-4 months. Also, Cephalexin or Amoxicillin have cleared me really nicely. Also popping pimples may reduce swelling but the pus inside the pimple contains bacteria that causes more acne in the surrounding tissue. Thing I use to keep smooth and clear: 1. Benzaclin 2. Tretinoin 3. Cephalexin Peace! Keep ya head up!

Why I Decided To Go On Accutane

One thing that may help you stop picking is knowing that the "ooze" that comes out a full pimple contains bacteria that will infect the pores in that area. Also, since you know that your acne is hormonal: there are specific birth control pills that are FDA approved to clear acne: Ortho-Tri-Cyclen and Yaz (and their generic counterparts)> I also take a drug called spironolactone, (works well with birth control pills) and it inhibits the absorption of testosterone. Men use it when they have a

Can you see a dermatologist? I have had success with Tri-Sprintec birth control, spironolactone and cephalexin and tretinoin and benzaclin. I hope you are female. your profile is "not telling".

    It All Started When

I had severe acne for three years due to not having healthcare as I ran my own business. When I finally got insurance, I sought my old dermatologist: 1. Tri-Sprintec 2. 100mg spironolactone 3. tretinoin Optional: Benzoyl peroxide/Clindamycin Phosphate and the antibiotic amoxicillin (NEVER MINOCYCLINE-causes blue discolorations in the skin and never clears up acne!) Don't continue to suffer, get some treatment from prescription medications. BTW I am 40 years old now. For some it is a lifelong

    Week 1

Hey James, An initial breakout is to be expected with any retinoid, that includes adapalene (the retinoid in Epi-Duo) and Retin-A or tretinoin. The medication is peeling your skin as a way of unclogging pores. That is a retinoid's job. After about six weeks, you should see steady improvement. A piece of advice from the battle weary, an antibiotic NOT MINOCYCLINE, like amoxicillin or cephalexin will help immensely. Minocycline, and I learned this the hard way, can cause blue discolorations on yo

    Night One

Hey D, I don't know if you are male or female but acne is like diabetes. It gets worse if untreated. I think your plan is a horrible idea, your skin looks very irritated and your acne is prominent and cystic. You need accutane-if you are male. and perhaps an antibiotic. Sometimes when we suffer from a frustrating skin disease like acne we get delusional and believe that the treatments are causing the disease. Not so. Please see a dermatologist ASAP.

    Will It Get Better?

Your skin looks fine Joe. Why don't you show your cheeks? Is the rest of your face clear? You look normal. I think you are scrutinizing your face too closely. Use tretinoin, at night and wait. The scars get better but some may be permanent. Now that my breakouts are over, I am surveying the damage and it looks so so. I have some scars. They get better every year. I am considering microdermabrasion and chemical peels to help with texture and appearance. But your forehead bro, looks fine. I don't

    Week 3

Did you know that popping pimples spreads bacteria from inside the infected pustule into the surrounding pores thereby creating more acne? Try to stop. I am on a generic form of Ortho-Tri-cyclen called Tri-sprintec, same difference, cured my breakouts so nicely! Peace!
