  1. Thank you, all. Your support truly means a lot to me. :3 )
  2. Ok, so the big pimples I had on one side of my face have basically cleared up. (Hallelujah!) But, they have left faint red marks where they used to be. (or maybe the pimple is still under the skin, but flat...?) I'm not nearly as bothered by these, as they aren't that noticeable I can cover them easily with make up. However, I'd still like them to go away. Does anyone have products that have helped with red spots following the clear up of a breakout?
  3. I talked to my dermatologist and it turns out that they actually do cortisone shots for acne. The nurse said that she would talk to the doctor and get back to me, but that I could come in tomorrow or Monday if he gave the OK. Here are my 2 concerns: A) What if the whiteheads on the cysts burst and they go down before I see him/them? Will I look like I'm nuts? B) I've had bouts of acne in which I've called the derm before, only to have it clear before I see him, thus making me look nu
  4. Ok, I called my dermatologist and am waiting for them to call me back. Wish me luck! Also, How much do those usually cost per shot? I know that my doctor will have to give me a specific amount, but I was just wondering.
  5. Ok, some on here have suggested that the best way to get rid of cysts fast an/or prevent them from surfacing is to get a Cortisone shot. My question is: How do you get one? Do you just call up your dermatologist and say, "I want a cortisone shot"? When I made my appointment at the dermatologist, they couldn't get me in for 2 weeks with the doctor and gave me an apt with the nurse practitioner, which I understand, but I am going away on a very important family trip next week and I really do not w
  6. I did speak to my psychiatist today who said that while he understood that acne is no fun, he felt my fixation on it was out of control. I also made an apt with a dermatologist, but he can't see me for 2 weeks, which really doesn't help me right now. For all I know the acne could be gone by then and he will think I'm nuts.
  7. If you are dealing with obsessive thoughts related to your acne (ie, can't think of anything else and it's impeding your ability to function), how do you best deal with this problem? I am having all sorts of desperate thoughts related (though not excusively) to my acne, even though I know that acne isn't worth *all THAT*, no matter how much it sucks. I think things like, "I just can't take this anymore, I'd rather die,." or, "I may as well skip brushing my teeth/combing my hair because I'm
  8. It's *##$#%#%* back. It cleared up for 2 whole days; whoopie. Oh, and get this gem from a family member: "It's what's inside you, it's part of you, grow up." THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I mean, because you totally understand. ('Cause she doesn't. I love her, but she's barely had a pimple in her life.) It's not fair.
  9. I started Ortho Trycylin last week and I haven't really seen any improvement. How long did it take before it worked for you?
  10. I am angry that God allows me to have acne on top of everything else thatI have to deal with in life. I have a significant learning disorder that I have to manage 24/7. I also have clinical depression. Don't I have ENOUGH to deal with? WHY do I have to deal with this shit, too? I feel like the Universe is mocking me-like, "nah nah nah nah nah, you can't even have clear skin, you have to have this crap, too." Also, my mom is the sweetest person in the world, but she says stupid things that make
  11. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. It is so weird/frustrating. My acne has basicaly cleared up-you can't see it unless you look very closely and can see the beginnings of new ones under a light, if you know what I mean. But on Monday night I got so angry about it that I swallowed 20 aspirin. I don't know if I was just so angry that I didn't care of if I subconciously wanted to die or something, but I wound up in the emergency room 9 hours later with ringing in my ears, nausea and a high l
  12. I am 30. I had bad acne as a teen and took accutane. It cleared up completely, and has reoccurred periodically since then, but never as bad. I've taken antibiotics and birth control pills in response. This week my acne is as bad as it's ever been. My skin is oily, a part of one side of my face has cysts on it and more are forming. I recently lost about 100 pounds. Is that it? Seriously, I sat around and ate crap for 8 years and my skin was fine. Now I'm finally taking care of myself, and it's ba
  13. Hi, I was on here a few months ago writing about a post Accutane acne flare up. It then seemed to go away. Now it looks like it's back again and I'm really upset. I wash my face regularly with Acne Free (generic of proactive) but there are still three noticable pimples on the right side of my face that refuse to go away. I just started a low carb diet and exercising almost every day recently, so I'm wondering if that is causing it? If so, what should I do? I really need to loose weight but deali
  14. I would really like to know if anyone here has had cystic acne return during a course of medication with the drug Cymbalta. It wasn't causing a problem on the lower doses, but then I started taking 120 mg, which worked well for my depression, but then caused the kind of acne I haven't had since taking accutane 10 yrs ago. After consulting with my doctor, I'm in the process of switching to a different medication. But, it is of course possible that the acne was caused by something else. So, I'd l
