  1. I only have 1.5 days left of Accutane! I can't believe I made it throughout the entire treatment. Although dry, my skin is smooth and glows. The only scars I have are some red marks that I can easily cover up with make-up. A pain, but I'm okay with it. Although I haven't posted regularly, this site has been so helpful when I visited and read others' stories or needed support. THANK YOU!
  2. Danni246 - So sorry it took me months to reply. How is your pyoderma? I had to take a break from everything Acne for a good long while... Accutane has made my face clear up and I can say that I'm PorcelainAgain - if I have makeup on. After three months of Accutane, I took a six week break. Now, I'm back on round two bc my Pyoderma Faciale was that bad and I don't want it to come back. Getting back on has been hard, but I'm willing to do it.
  3. Glad to know I'm not the only one out there with this Accutane problem. I also have to work hard against heridity on a good day. Accutane made me go up 65 points in two months, but I got it down nearly 50 points through diet, fish oil, ground flax seeds, vitamins and exercise. I had to take a 10-day break, but am back on it now. My last blood test was on Jan 6. Just started month 3, but I guess I didn't fully complete month 2. I hope NOT to have to go off it again until the full five months are
  4. I had to give up the miracle drug for 10 days. My cholesterol was elevated so I worked really hard to get that down -- and I did. But, my Triglycerides levels went up so I had to do a 10 day break. I restarted Accutane this week. I really, really hope I can make it to the end of my four or five months on this love/hate medication. So, this week my lips are getting dry again, as is my skin. No hair loss (thank goodness!). Stomach upset the first two days when I got back on. Tired, tired, tire

  6. I cried duing my monthly appointment on Friday. I just hate all of this and feel overwhelmed, but not suicidal or anything. I had a sinus infection this month and having a monthly cycle again (b/c IUD came out) is really hard. The hormones surging make me so touchy... Don't miss that at all! This is still an emotional rollercoaster, even though I feel better and my skin looks SO MUCH BETTER. With makeup, you can barely tell I've had any issues over the last few months. 'Tane is some strong s
  7. If your acne is making you misearable, then try Accutane. I'm on day 34 and it has changed my life! For me, any of the side affects outweighed the acne struggles and what the cysts, pustuales, infections and antibiotics + cortisone + topicals were doing to my life. Good luck!
  8. I drink hot tea and cofffee daily, and I'm on 40 mg 1x day. Stay away from alcohol if your liver function test levels are of concern.
  9. I'm nearing the end of my first month on Accutane, first course ever. I feel for you! Good luck with round 2. I hope it is the last one you'll ever need to do.
  10. Accutane is a friggin' miracle drug! My skin is smooth again and I haven't seen a cyst or pimple in days. I was at three Holiday events this week and felt pretty good. Best concealer ever - Lancome's undereye cream is great for all residual red spots left behind by bad pimples and cysts. As long as there isn't an open sore, than this waterproof concealer will be your best friend. It will make you look smooth and 'normal' again. Stomach issues - Subsided now, but I'm worried that my doc m
  11. Pimple update: I've had two other small pimples that have come and gone - one by my hairline on my forehead and one on my jawline. Then, two days ago I started getting a pyodermic faciale big cyst. A BIG ONE. Dark read and throbbing. It is smaller today and still closed because I no longer pick at my face. Ever. Acanya: I'm still putting Acanya on pimples when they surface. I'll do this until my skin becomes too flakey. I think it helps them go away quickly. Accutane Side Affects: Sun-se
  12. PhotoFacials - I've had two in two months. Results are good, but I need more. Need to wait now that I'm on Accutane. Retin A will make you peel, a good chemcial peel may cause an outbreak, but you'll love the results later (friend had one, not me). I think that in-office procedures are always better than a topical because they go deeper into the skin and have more dramatic results. You pay more, but you get what you pay for.
  13. Try a photofacial from a dematologist's office. It will disperse the redness/lessen it and take the brown out of brown spots. Microdermabrasian might also be helpful, but I'd try the photofacial first. I've done both and have had good results. Good luck!
  14. I am so excited to finally start Accutane! I'm a 36-year old mom of two, married and a business owner. Pyoderma Faciale has taken over my life since Labor Day Weekend - not that I knew what it was at that point in time. My 'new normal' includes painful cysts and stares from people. I've worn band aids to business meetings, the gym, the grocery store, the PTA and restaurants. My fabulous business partner has covered meetings for me because I didn't want to see clients or go to events. I've been
  15. I figured out that my (second) Mirena was causing the really bad outbreaks because it coincided with my first cycle on the IUD (2 mo after insertion) and then it happened again 26-28 days later. I can't believe that Mirena #2 did this to me, but my doctors and I think it did. I only have one main and one smaller pyoderma cyst right now, but I still have the big red spot on my chin. Red spots remain where the cysts have faded. I also had 8 in-office LED treatments (alt red and blue) over 4 we
