  1. I'm 32 and I have PCOS. I had no symptoms either at 26. My dermatologist actually brought up PCOS and I went to my GYN to get checked out and it turns out I did have it. I did two rounds of accutane in high school, many years ago...and they did help with no side effects whatsoever. But it doesn't sound like what you are dealing with is normal cystic acne. Maybe check with your GYN. Are you taking any BC now? If it is PCOS that's the first thing they are going to suggest. I do like the Y
  2. might be a little late for this, but I found that hydrocortisone cream helped when I over applied. It killed the pain at least.
  3. big fan of clinique's acne concealer and bare minerals...you can even use bare minerals as a spot concealer.
  4. I've used it off and onf or almost twenty years now. I'm back on it now and I love what it does for my skin outside of just clearing up acne. The texture of my skin, the elasticity and everything is better on it. I'm fine using it until I die.
  5. big fan of the Grisi sulfur soap. It was a miracle for me...didn't totally clear me up, but damn close. It's like 1.50 a bar at target too.
  6. So Spironolactone is for treating only horomonal acne right? I'm just wondering if it's not overprescribed? I had to go for a sonogram and blood test with my GYN BEFORE my dermatologist would put me on it. She wanted a confirmed diagnosis of PCOS (which was confirmed) or a blood test showing that my aldosterone/androgen levels were too high (they were). I'm just wondering how many of you went through this before you were put on it. I think that maybe the people that aren't seeing results
  7. tell your mom to chill out...the only regular thing about women's cycles is that they can sometimes be irregular. I had my period for three months straight when I had Mirena inserted. Complete with cramps for three months
  8. question (from a chick) do you guys exfoliate before shaving? One thing I've noticed with shaving stuff is that the more I exfoliate the area, the less problems I have....I use both chemical and physical exfoliants....Tend Skin is the brand of the chemical one...as for physical exfoliation, I use a pumice stone VERY lightly over any areas. I also have to let things heal up between shaves, which isn't fun sometimes but once you break that cycle, it does seem to get better.
  9. i don't wear makeup that often on weekends. I just try and focus on the fact that when I look around me, there are so many people that obviously look worse than I do. Snarky? yes, maybe but it makes me feel better.
  10. 24 years of "bliss" here 16 years of BC 2 rounds of accutane just started spironolactone
  11. No I don't think so. It's mechanism is to reduce androgens, which in turn reduces sebum production. I don't think it would have any localized effects and you'd still be risking it getting into your blood stream, which would probably lead to feminization.
  12. yup that's definitely hormonal. You may want to look into Spironolactone and/or get checked for PCOS.
  13. So Spironolactone is for treating only horomonal acne caused by an excess of aldosterone in the blood stream right? I'm just wondering if it's not overprescribed? I had to go for a sonogram and blood test with my GYN BEFORE my dermatologist would put me on it. She wanted a confirmed diagnosis of PCOS (which was confirmed) or a blood test showing that my aldosterone/androgen levels were too high (they were). I'm just wondering how many of you went through this before you were put on it. I thin
  14. So glad you said this. There is nothing in birth control that will make you gain weight by itself. If you eat right and burn as many calories as you put in, you won't gain weight.
