  1. Hi all I just need some advice please. To cut a long story short (or if you like reading long stories see mine in the Adult Acne topic ha ha) i need some advice asap please. I have had acne since i was 14 (am now 35) and have tried everything apart from Accutane (i suffer from depression) Anyway i went to my derm yeaterday and she offered me either Accutane (but seemed a bit reluctant to be honest) or a combination of Clindamycin & Rifampicin. I accepted these in the first instance but am
  2. Hi my lovely supportive friends I saw the derm yesterday. She did say at my last appointment that i may be discharged as i've tried nearly everything. Anyway she offered me Accutane!!! She did say though that i could try another combination of drugs before going on this. So i agreed to this but am not too sure yet. I've not taken the prescription yet, i just want to get any feedback. She prescribed a combination of Clindamycin & Rifampicin. I've heard of Clindamycin but not the other. Has a
  3. Thanks everyone. I'm seeing the derm tomorrow so i'll see what she says. I'll mention to her these things and see how i go. I'll keep you updated. I've started taking Zinc vitamin today as well as pro-biotics so hopefully that may do something.
  4. I know exactly how you feel. Your life is ruled by your skin. It's just horrible.I'm 35 and have had acne since i was 14 and have tried everything possible. I permanently have acne on my face (mainly mid cheek and jaw/neck) and shoulders but had my worst flare up in a long time a few months ago. I have never felt so depressed in my whole life and didn't want to get out of bed. I too am waiting for a scan to see if i have PCOS. I visited the doctor a few times with no luck but this time (Friday)
  5. It's really good to hear moral support. Thank goodness we have each other to relate too. Anyway a quick update. I went to my G.P and stood my ground. She is doing me a referral to the gynae to have a scan for PCOS and more blood tests as the last time i had them done i was on the pill so they may not have been acurate. The good thing i found was because i went prepared with research she took me more seriously this time. I'll keep you updated on the results. It could be that i may just have acne
  6. Hi everyone I'm just wondering what the legal/moral right is for me to get a refund for the laser i had that to me and my husband has been a waste of money. I'm 35 and have had acne since i was 14. I have tried everything but nothing has improved it. Someone recommended laser to me so i had 7 courses which cost £750 in total. The last treatment i has was about 3 months ago. Initially it did improve (not 100% clear) but people did comment on it looking better. The therapist advised me i would
  7. It's just horrible how sometimes the medical profession don't seem to understand or appreciate how debilitating it is to have something permanently there on your face, the first thing people see when they meet you, and not think that years of this distressing condition isn't something worthy of a bit more consideration. I have friends who are devastated when they get a small pimple that lasts 3 days! I've read a few comments about the drug Spironolactone and have never heard of it to be hones
  8. Thanks so much. I've booked an appointment with my GP on Friday and am going to stand my ground. Like you said i know my own body and whats best, and i've been proved right on a couple of other issues in the past when i have followed this advice. I hope you get on well with your research and that Roaccutane works for you. I just wish i was able to take it but never mind. Thanks again
  9. Hi everyone. It's nice to share my thoughs and disappointment with others who understand and care. I'm new to the forum, although i have looked at the site for a while now, hoping to get some ideas or help for my problem. My acne started when i was 14 (i'm now 35) I was started on Minocycline at that time. The GP didn't regulate the time i was on it and i ended up getting systemic lupus. I was really poorly from this and had to stop taking it. Since then i have tried everything apart from Roaccu
