Acne not present in Canadian inuit prior to 1950
Cooool replied to Green_Vegetable_Man's topic in General acne discussion
Well, You are talking to people in 2004. But the, let's say 'quality', of the responses to the OP is amazing. You'd think people in a Research forum would want to learn. Although it is a lousy excuse for a research forum. Most people seem to want to know about research for a miracle pill. That's why I hardly come here. There's better research in the Nutrition and holistic board. I feel dumb...they are from 2004 lol. whoops -
As an alternative I apply a decent amount in the morning, so that there is a chalky residue, and let it sit for 20-30 mins before splashing water on my face so that there is no more white residue. Enough remains on the skin for me to have the same effect...I'm not really comfortable with just leaving a layer on my skin throughout the day didn't really work for me.

Give 100000 IUs Vitamin A/day a try under a doctors supervision for 3 weeks (or accutane) and no more oil. Then lower your dosage down to maintain the sebum reduction.

Hey, just wanted to share how I've gotten my oily skin under control (fingers crossed), and the pimples that come along with it. One, before I go out I've been applying Phillips milk of magnesia every other day with my fingers, leaving it on my face for about 20 mins and washing it off before applying a little glaxal base (moisturizer) Secondly, which I think has done the most, is I've been taking Vitamin A (derived from fish). I took accutane in the past and its the only thing that really co

I think you're all wrong! Accutane is derived from Vitamin A which can work similarly to accutane to combat acne (although it's harder to control the dosage of Vitamin A). Throughout history, Eskimos and Inuit ate large amounts of polar bear, animals with livers containing extremely high amounts of Vitamin A. Around 1950s, Eskimos were beginning to experience a strange plague of skin diseases, since they had developed strong livers that could store large amounts large amounts of the vitamin, -
It's way better now, just looks like normal skin like the skin on the back of my hand in terms of oil lol. And it hasn't come back at all (as of yet at least).

Hey, I'm done with accutane, took my last pill 2 months ago. My treatment was 40mg/day for 4 months. My skin is completly clear, and I haven't had a single pimple for months while I used to get at least 2 new zits everyday and REALLY oily skin, very embarrassing. My back was insane, almost everyday I would have some blood on my shirt :/. When i first saw my derm they suggested accutane but I got scared and refused, wasting time on treatments like topicals, minocycline, and benzoyl perox

Is 40 Mg Once Daily Effective?
Cooool replied to cervantes86's topic in Prescription acne medications
Yea I was 40mg/day for 4 months and am clear -
If I were you and saw no noticeable improvement in 4 weeks I'd go with the accutane. Exact same thing happened half a year ago, derm told me to go on accutane but i was shocked and refused, and ended up wasting alot of time on treatments (antibiotics, topicals) that didn't work. I've finished my accutane course and am completly clear.

Don't Know Where To Turn Next, Accutane? + Photos

can i take protein shake with accutane?
Cooool replied to Eazy Bruv's topic in Prescription acne medications
sigh, I began taking protein shakes again in the middle of my treatment and my doctor said my creatinine levels had skyrocketed, and told me to stop taking the supplement. Anyways, you should be ok with monthly blood tests, but you run a greater risk of having bad results. -
First Post, Scared Of Accutane
Cooool replied to Shinkmaster's topic in Prescription acne medications
Seems like acne is already ruining your life. The thing is you have cystic acne, which is very hard to treat with the alternatives, accutane really does this best which is why you were prescribed it. There is a risk for accutane, but the approximate facts are 90% get clear skin and less than 10% get really bad side effects. -
Men fancy trading in your acne for impotence?
Cooool replied to Sheefa's topic in Prescription acne medications
Accutane is still worth it for me cause it's the only drug that actually worked. I seroiusly wasn't getting any before it -

Roll Call for Current Accutane Users!
Cooool replied to Sun-ah-san's topic in Prescription acne medications
I discussed starting a topical regimen while still taking Accutane with my derm, and he said that some people do it, and some people don't, it really just depends on the individual and their skin. Since my side effects had been incredibly mild (minor dryness, minor redness), he decided it would be okay to begin Tretinoin incrementally and see how my skin adjusted. I apparently underestimated just how sensitive my skin is, because I am miserable right now. I feel pretty stupid now for applyi -
Ya, alot has come out. I think the hair will recover if its falling out from all over your scalp...if its getting thinner only at the hairline it may be balding (permanent). I only use shampoo now once every two weeks to keep as much natural oils as possible.

Chances That I Will Experience An Initial Breakout?
Cooool replied to woah44's topic in Prescription acne medications
You'll probably get it after a few weeks of taking it, sorry. Very high chance. -
lol ya accutane

If you're a guy, shaving does a good job of it, just a single blade. Removes all the dead skin cells stuck to the skin and lets it breathe a bit

With the usual medical supervision accutane will not destroy your liver (monthly blood checks) or fetuses (birth control). And the hair comes back after the course. Stop exaggerating. Accutane has repeatedly been shown to work for many people, chinese herbs on the other hand...you. It is a last resort medication but this girl is obviously at her wit's end, don't waste her time. I find it sad that people are ignoring this drug as i did for a few years, it's because of fear mongers like you.

Please...for the love of god... go on accutane it's the only thing that truly works. I was in the same situation as you, now I'm so much happier. The closest thing to a cure out there is accutane...50% of people who take it are acne free for the rest of their lives. Cmon now

Anal Irritation After Accutane
Cooool replied to theGreyhound's topic in Prescription acne medications
Ya yo, I have the same thing. Went to doctor, and I have anal fissures. I had it before i started accutane but alot more blood came out during accutane, doctor said cause of increased dryness...im sure this sometimes continues after the course is completed. DONT RUB VASELINE on it, doctor said it can make it worse (increases humidity increasingchance of infection). Get some lotion prescribed from ur doctor.
