  1. I finished accutane FOUR years ago, at the age of 16. I am now approaching my 20th birthday, and I am proud to say that my life has been forever changed. In fact, I completely forgot about this blog until a few days ago. My past life is totally and completely behind me. When I read through those journal entries I posted during my sophomore year in high school, the memories of my horrible cystic acne came back and I honestly felt grateful for the experience to go through something so humbling, pa
  2. 22 months ago, I was 14 years old, and I started taking accuane. I took a few pills a week, and gradually took more and more. I never officially ended Accutane. My doctor never told me, "All right, that's it, you're done!" My last appointment was over 6 months ago. I still have some pills left, I take a couple every month. So how's my skin doing? It's amazing! I never thought that my skin could be so clear. I still break out. But honestly, I hardly notice it. I usually have a small blemish or tw
  3. I've been on accutane for fourteen months!
  4. Okay everyone, I know it's been a long time. I've been really busy, and since my skin has been so great, it's not always the first thing on my mind like it used to be. But let's back up. Around the middle of May, my doctor told me to take three 40mg pills a week. I couldn't, because I broke out a bit. (Just a few small pimples). So I went back to taking pills every day. At my last appointment, a little over a month ago, he told me to go down. I have! I haven't been taking them in any certain ord
  5. For some reason, within the past 2 weeks, I've been breaking out. I've had a couple of small pustules on my forehead, and some pink bumps on my cheeks. Weird. I'm still taking 40mg a day, so I don't know why. Anyway, my red marks are healing SO well! Although the line between clear skin under my eyes and the line of red marks is still visible, it's much lighter. I've been putting apple cider vinegar on my face for the past couple months and it's working really well. The huge scar on my right jaw
  6. I had another appointment, but my doctor left my dosage the same. 40 mgs every day. Anyway, I haven't been as faithful with taking the pills the past few weeks and it's shown. I broke out a little but on the left side of my face and I'm a little splotchy. However, my red marks seem to have faded a bit. My arms are really dry and rough right now. I got a small burn on my arms last week when I was in the sun for 20 minutes. Anyway, hopefully I'll be off soon! Will my red marks heal better when on
  7. Happy 300th day of accutane! Wow. Is this normal? Anyway, all week I've been getting random little red bumps on my skin. It's not terribly noticeable or bad, and I don't really mind, but I find it odd. Also, my red marks seem to have faded a tiny bit, and my overall redness has sort of decreased. My lips aren't too dry, and my skin isn't dry at all. Actually, my arms are kind of dry, but who really cares? Okay... That's all!
  8. This week I got a small pimple on my forehead and chin. That's it! My red marks are fading slightly and the redness has calmed down a tiny bit. I'm hardly dry, and my back rarely hurts. I guess I'm used to accutane. I'm still taking 40mg a day. Good luck to everyone!
  9. Guess who broke out this week? Me! It was pathetic compared to the breakouts I used to get, in fact a year ago I wouldn't have even considered this a breakout. Nevertheless, I'm on my tenth month of accutane and breaking out is ridiculous. First of all, I got several small pink/ red bumps along the right side of my face. They aren't drastic and they don't call attention to themselves, but they are there. The weird thing is that I got a big pustule (haven't had one of those in a long time!) above
  10. This week my skin's been acting weird. It's been brutally red, as always. It's ridiculous how much anti-redness products I use just to see my face still be fluorescent red! The weird thing with my skin is that it's been sort of breaking out. Very minimally. In fact I hate to even call it breaking out. Here's the case: I'm getting random reddish/ pink bumps on my face. I've gotten a couple on my forehead and a few on my right cheek. They're hardly noticeable, but it's just weird because I haven't
  11. Hey everyone! So here I am on month nine taking 40mg a day. My red marks have faded significantly. I was looking at pics from a year ago and I couldn't believe my skin was that bad! I've been remembering my skin in the fall. It was covered in dark red marks. Now the crescent area under my left eye is gone. The whole cheek is full of light & fading redmarks. There are a few small splotches but the rest just looks like uneven skin tone. Under my right eye, the crescent area is really light. Th
  12. Annoyingly, I'm getting oilier. My skin has some shine and my hair gets oilier faster. My lips are fine, I'm on top of moisturizing them. So this week I've noticed a slight decrease on the appearance of red marks. Great! However, I'm still really red. It's worse on some days, and I can't seem to pick up a pattern. So this week I've gotten a small red bump on my forehead, under my left eye, on the right side of my face, and above my lip on my right cheek. I'm guessing it's because of the dosage d
  13. Day 258 I went down on my dosage! Noe I'm only taking one 40 mg pill a day. I can already feel myself getting a little oilier. My skin is doing great though! I haven't gotten a pustule in a month. The only acne I've gotten in the past month would be a few red bumps that heal quickly. My scars are still fading slightly. My derm told me my redness would go down a ton after I'm off accutane. He better be right, because I'm soooo red all the time. No amount of soothing lotion or green makeup help
  14. Good news everyone- I stopped taking accutane for like 5 days be because I was taking all of this other medication for something else. ANDDDD.... I didn't break out at all! In fact, I have only have a couple of tiny little bumps on the side of my face:) YES! I'm gaining confidence that once I'm done with my course, it will never come back. That would be nice, because I LOVE clear skin, and I could never go back to the numerous cysts and pustules and nodules I woke up to every morning. I. Love.
  15. Thanks! My doctor never said how long it should be. I'll probably have a 9-10 month course though. My acne was really persistent.
