  1. I take ortho tri cyclen. i believe they took diane35 off the market. i know they did here in canada recently... i dont take saw p anymore though. i did for a few months, then weened off of it. for my it was gluten removal and cutting down on sugar that really did help me. its been 7 months now without gluten and its amazing that results ive seen with my skin. i encourage you to give it a shot for at least a couple of months before judging if it helps or not. good luck!
  2. thanks for the update! i actually only took it for a few months then weened myself off of it to see if it was really helping. ive now been off of it for a couple of months and my skin is still good (the odd breakout but nothing cystic or infamed) its definitely been the gluten removal that has helped me
  3. Absolutely. I havent had any wheat, its just a super duper increase in sugar! I had 3 Easter dinners and I did lots of baking. I decided to switch my exercise routine and workout in the mornings and then my evenings were free, so I baked and I ate sweets. It wasnt good. I decided for me that its best if I do my errands and exercise in the evenings to keep me busy The bump luckily came to a head ( a few times) so its not a true cyst/nodule. I will take it as a warning sign to get bac
  4. Thanks for posting - I was always following along Best of luck!!! Last week I ate an insane amount of candy, chocolate and baked goods- tons of easter dinners etc. Now I have my first big bump happening on my chin since going gluten free 6 months ago. Drinking tons and tons of water, continuing on with my skin regime and cutting back tremendously with the sugar and hoping it goes away before it gets ugly!
  5. good update. and yeah it really is a learning curve. sounds like you are taking a ton of things. do they all interact with eachother okay? yeah maybe antibiotics might be helpful, who knows. worth a shot if the natural stuff doesnt work. keep us posted!
  6. have you thought about using something topical just to get it under control while you clean up your diet a bit over the next month? maybe just a 2.5% benzol peroxide for instance.
  7. Your skin is looking better already. And you are EXCEPTIONAL at makeup application. your skin looks flawless with makeup on! Things are going great for me thanks. Gluten is the enemy for me. I havent had any in 5 months now and in that time I've probably had about 10 zits and just regular ones, not inflamed or cystic. I still take saw P but much less. down to 160mg (1 pill) a day but I will go down to one every other day and then none and see how that goes. I also still use BP on my chin
  8. best of luck! keep the good spirits up and the regime and you'll do it! you've done it before and you can do it again!! exercise and sleep are key keep us posted on your progress.
  9. has anyone effectively tapered off of saw p and stayed clear or is this a lifetime committment? ive been taking it for 4 months now, and it (along with going gluten free) have cleared me up. i took 480mg total daily for 2 months, then 320mg daily for a month and now down to 160mg and just got my first breakout in 3 months (not a cyst thankfully but inflammed whitehead) thinking myabe 320mg is needed for me.
  10. success is still fantastic. alot of PIH still and I think thats from BP (im pretty sure red marks have never hung around this long before i was using bp) i have had maybe 5 zits total in the 3 months ive been doing this regimen. no gluten cheats at all. i have now decreased my saw p (eventually want to not have to take it) to 320mg every other day, on the other days just 160mg. eventually will do just 160mg daily, then every other day, then every 3 days, then off. will see how that goes.
  11. i think that might be a bit of anxiety vs actually speeding up your heart beat. thats happened to me with antibiotics but they dont speed up heartrate, they just make me anxious... saw p doesnt do anything except block your androgens... i have consulted my doctor- who said that a) it probably wont work (which it did) and b) it could in theory interact with birth control (but probably not) otherwise its just a natural anti androgen. its a diruetic. thats about it. maybe you are taking
  12. hmm. no idea. best to talk to your doctor about that.
  13. Yes! The things that i have noticed (that make me very happy,. thus making me feel better) are clear skin, less headaches and no keritosis pilaris on my arms. oh and also its shortened my periods from 5 days to 3 (and im on the pill) and also ive lost about 8 lbs now (and im already a fairly fit person) so thats a bonus. helped the TMJ in my jaw too. incredible. i think for me its more wheat than gluten as ive had some barley malt and didnt see to be impacted but who knows! saw p is great.
  14. cetaphil has been just fine for me. and it isnt cheaper if you buy from costco. $20 for a 1L pump that last what seems like forever. for BP i use dans. its by far the most cost effective size even with shipping.
  15. thanks for the update! glad to hear you are having success! i too have had major success. completely removed gluten from my diet 8 weeks ago. no cheats, no nothing. i also started taking saw palmetto 8 weeks ago. I was my face with cetaphil twice a day, in the morn i follow with prescription clindisol and then moisturizer, in the evening i follow with some bp on my skin and moisturizer. my face hasnt been this clear in a very long time. i also take (and have always taken) vit D, C, B co
  16. ive been on 450mg daily for almost 4 months now and have seen fantastic results. i would prefer not to take something synthetic if i am able to. alot of people on this site have cleared from Saw P but as well all know, acne is different for everyone. spiro doesnt work for everyone either. i wish there was just one cure. i think saw p combined with gluten removal made the biggest difference for me.
  17. yeah. after the holidays (id like my skin to be nice for them lol) im going to drop down to 320mg daily for a while and see how that impacts, then go down to 160mg. im also going to do a test and have an item with gluten in it and see how my skin reacts. im starting to think that wheat might be more the issue as ive had something with some barley in it (unknown to me at the time) and didnt seem to be an issue...
  18. thats great news!! how much saw p are you taking daily? (how many mg's)
  19. i dont even know that there is anything medically they can do. ive spoken with my dr about a hormonal imbalance before and if acne is the only symptom you have (which is my case) then medicine cannot really help you if you are already taking birth control. so i took matters into my own hands with saw palmetto, exercise, vitamins and gluten removal and am having great success finally.
  20. from what ive read on these boards alot of people get tested and its a waste of money because an imbalance doesnt show up. alot of people with hormonal acne fall into the "normal" category when tested unfortunately...
  21. Hi Everyone! A summary about me, suffered from acne (regular whiteheads and blackheads) when I was a teen. Took BCP to help clear that up, which it did. Never had perfect skin but it was pretty good. Then I turned 25 and my skin changed. The acne I got was all on my chin and jawline. The big bumps, some nodules, some cysts, some closed comedones, always inflamed. First I was just getting regular acne on my chin, then the week before my period I was getting a big bump. Then two. Then thr
