  1. Not sure if this belongs here or Clinical trials/studies but here goes anyway:
  2. Ahh the good old acne 'facemap' http://www.skinacea.com/acne/acne-face-map.html#.UKnXP-R_6jo
  3. I tried this and my acne did clear up. I stopped because of the itchyness. Might try again, thanks OP, glad the utchyness is normal. Anyone know why the itch happens?
  4. Bummer indeed. I feel the antibiotics helped on my face to say the least. It's been nearly 24 hours and I can already notice small pustules forming. The dermatologist said that the next test would confirm if I really do have liver problems. Apparently the antibiotics and Roaccutane cause slight complications with the liver so that's why you need a near perfect one before starting the course. She said she noticed I looked a little tank and asked if I used steroids before. At first I was a
  5. 21/12/2011 10:08am - Blood results back Doctor rang and said that my liver levels were slightly elevated. Said to discontinue antibiotics (ERYC) and do another test on the 11th January. Won't start Roaccutane till sometime after that.
  6. Not sure if this is the appropriate place to put it but here goes. 15/12/2011 1:00pm - Dermatologist Derm1: Asked numerous amount of questions relating to acne (alcohol intake, sun exposure, when it started etc) Derm2: Reconfirmed the questions from derm1. Looked at my chest/back. Said "Roaccutane" would be best. Gave me bunch of pamphlets and 'starter kit' Said I'll be on ERYC (Erythromycin) first, before starting Roaccutane 16/12/2011 8:30am - Blood test Gave two tubes of blood for testin
  7. No the cleane Hmm, its stubble now might just keep it as is. I cut my own hair and could use the trimmer without the guard, would that be enough? Thanks, I did notice dryness and irritation, I just thought it was the BP wash. So i should ditch the cleanser and use the BP wash till the derm tells me other or gives me meds? Hmm, 3 more days

  9. Thanks for the reply, I forgot to subscribe to this thread Callum, that was it akko, I wouldn't call it serious (judging from the 'types of acne' post), it's just nothing seems to work. I think I have a problem of shedding too many skin cells. I just looked at my nose today and noticed that I have blackheads, I wash and change my bed sheets weekly and change my clothes regularly (couple of times a week). I also shower daily and wash my face 2 times a day (with a cleanser and BP facewas
  10. After a few courses of Doxycycline, my local GP recommended me to a dermatologist. He said that it's no longer hormonal acne. He also said the Derm would likely put me on Accutane (what he said had an "R" in it but it sounded like Accutone). I'm only 18, is it really safe to say it's not hormonal acne? Don't hormones settle at 25? I did start puberty early though ... Are there any standard procedures these derms do? Tests? Any advice? I'll a littler nervous and anxious Thanks
  11. Firstly, congratulations!! Secondly, did your Derm explain why taking colder showers was recommended? Is it because it closes the pores after you cleansed?
  12. roaccutane ...what is that? Heard of Accutane? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotretinoin
  13. Title pretty much sums it up. Does the look of acne look more serious in comparison to the pics we've uploaded? I've seen a few thread where people post pictures of little dots and the OP assures us they;re worse in real life So, are we imagining it because we see ourselves in the mirror every day and compare ourselves to other ppl with clear skin or do we need better lenses on our camera?
  14. I used to take Doxycycline but my prescription ran out. That was when my acne was out of control on my face. To be honest I don't believe it did anything. Now I just apply creams. I use Neutrogena Deep Clean (Cleanser) and Benzac AC wash (BP 5%). I've made changes to my diet to, staying away from dairy and drinking water. When I shave, I use a 2 blade razor and L'oreal Hydra Sensitive foam. When I finished I apply the cleanser then the BP wash - I found the traditional shaving soap it wou
  15. Only noticed the past couple of weeks. My acne on my chest and back seemed to move on my back once my face started clearing. Has this happened to anyone else? What does it mean? Hormones are balancing?
