  1. Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm definitely going to be researching this Spiro stuff. Hopefully if it seems to be a good option it will be something I can afford w/out insurance. I may be back to ask more questions after the derm, but meanwhile I think I'm going back to my Retin-a after a few days of moisturizing my skin to see if I can get the scaliness down after a week on BP. You guys are a great help. It's really nice to have support in the process and know that others have been through
  2. Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I've thought about hormonal options, but I'm one of those special people who gets nutty whenever I mess with my hormones -- I tried many different flavors of BCP when younger and never found the right one, but put myself and those around me through hell in the process. I'm more afraid to mess w/my moods and emotions than my skin. (Though I've never heard of Spironolactone and will read up on it.) I haven't been to a derm in a while due to not having health insuranc
  3. Hi! I'm a 35 year old woman with hormonal acne that presents as cysts (painful, red and full of stuff), usually 1, 2 or (rarely) 3 at a time during ovulation week. They stay for at least a week, sometimes 2 and they are HUGE, so though the rest of my face is clear pretty much all the time, these 1 or 2 pimples really make me feel self-conscious. I've been using Retin-A cream .1% for the last year; before that I had the gel which was better, same strength, and used for the previous maybe 2 year
