  1. Day 39 Wow, it feels like forever since I've updated! One thing I've noticed on most people's logs is that as time goes on, their entries become less frequent. I guess it's because we get used to the medication and don't need as much support. Even so, I want to keep my log updated at least weekly. Things are going pretty well with Accutane. The biggest change I've noticed in my life is that my days no longer REVOLVE around my skin. I don't have a constant countdown of the days in my head and
  2. You should be just fine! I started on 80 mg/day. I am 5 feet 3 inches tall and weigh about 130 pounds. :)
  3. Day 33 I am a few days into my second month and I am feeling pretty much GREAT about my skin. Right now I have one medium cyst that is going down and a few very small ones. That's it! They are all on my chin or below my ears. The scars on the lower part of my face are starting to heal and I can actually see the days when I will be able to go out to the store, gym, etc. without wearing any makeup whatsoever. I really only need to wear foundation now, and maybe a little bit of light powder. Befor
  4. Hi! I feel that 80 mgs has been perfect for me. I am about 130-135 pounds and I have experienced minimal side effects. I have been pretty proactive about them, however...I have always used nasal spray, eye drops, CeraVe cream (not lotion), Aquaphor, etc. Good luck with the 80! I am sure you will be fine.
  5. Hi Shareyn, I agree that it is difficult to tell, because everyone has a different experience. Before starting Accutane I had moderate acne which became somewhat cystic over the years. However, with the help of makeup and the fact that my acne wasn't severe, most people would be surprised to find out that I went on Accutane. I definitely needed it, though, and I was confident in my decision. I am on Day 33 now and there has been a remarkable improvement in my skin. However, I did have a brea
  6. Hey girl, Don't get down about the IB! It will get better. I think mine is on the downward end...and I can tell you there were a couple of weeks that weren't pretty. There were a few social events that were difficult for me. But guess what? They are gone now, and no one is thinking about how my skin looked. I know the embarrassing/painful parts will pay off in the end, and they will for you, too. The next time I see those people I know they will tell me how great my skin looks, and I will be so
  7. Hey Jackie! I am so glad to hear things are clearing up and looking great I can't wait until my cysts have white heads...they are just chilling pretty deep right now but the second I see that white tip I'm going to give that method a try! I know we are not supposed to pick but it somehow usually feels better once they go down, right? Patience is not one of my strengths these days haha Aquaphor lip therapy= my life saver. I am in love with it. I have seen that commercial, too! I
  8. Hi there! It sounds like you are feeling better about everything, and I'm glad to hear it! Good idea to throw the pamphlets away. Those are some big freakin' pamphlets. I am just like you....if I read any side effect, all of a sudden I SWEAR it's happening to me. The worst is Googling something that is happening...everyone tells you it means the worst possible thing and you need to rush to the ER. Ridiculous! I don't want to speak too soon, but I was just like you, going through bad times w
  9. Day 29 Woo-hoo, I can't believe I have officially completed four weeks! It's almost time for my second appointment and I can't wait to talk to my dermatologist about how everything is going. It can be so tricky to schedule the appointments, though...I don't want to get my bloodwork done too early, but I don't want to schedule the appointment too far out because I am afraid to run out of pills. It can be quite the timing game. I'm crossing my fingers...but my face is looking REALLY good righ
  10. One more thing....I think it is important for people to remember that we can find almost anything we want to find on the internet. I googled the foundation you spoke of and found a thread about it possibly causing acne. I am truly sorry MAC didn't work for you but I don't think we can generalize that it will cause problems for every person. Good luck on your accutane experience. Jackie, how much are MAC products (if you don't mind me asking)? Once I start my job (2 weeks) I am going to b
  11. Well, I have a couple of things to say in response and then I am hoping this topic will die since it might not ever be something we all agree on. The honest truth is that everyone wants to feel good and look good, and since we are on Accutane we are all pretty sensitive right now. Iceez, I guess how I feel is that if you want to help someone out, as you mentioned, it might be a better approach to simply state your experience and say you just wanted to contribute what you went through, rather tha

  13. Hello, Although I appreciate your advice, I have to say that I disagree when it comes to my own experience. I also know many, many people who use MAC skin products (with acne and without) and none of them have gotten acne or have gotten worse acne by using MAC. I googled the topic for interest just now, and I actually found that although it wasn't a "hot" topic, there were people defending both sides--especially on the acne.org website. At the end of it all, most people realize what matters mos
  14. Day 24 Hi everyone! It has been awhile since I've updated, so I thought I would write a quick entry. Things haven't been TOO much different in my world. I've had some breakouts on my chin and moving up my cheeks, but they are getting smaller in size and are not as cystic (more like whiteheads). My forehead, nose, and upper cheeks are totally clear and smooth. I can't wait until my whole face looks like this. I have some flaky spots that I easily take care of in the morning, and I am totally
  15. Day 19 Hi everyone! Not much has changed here. My skin is pretty much the same...I am still breaking out, but the breakouts are less clustered and moving upwards (more on the lower cheeks). My breakouts are usually whiteheads now instead of cysts. I have two deep cysts on my lower chin that haven't changed at all for almost two weeks. I am not sure what to do about them. Other than that I have had some eye watering, so I've been using eye drops a lot. Any type of exercise makes me REALLY sore.
