  1. Hello, I'm sorry your son is going through so much frustration-- stubborn acne is very frustrating. I know myself, having battled it since I was in grade 6. The worst part is doctors still don't know very much about it, you look to them for help, but they don't always send you down the right path. At 31 years old, I finally have my acne under control and would love to share with you a few things I WISH someone would've told me 15 years ago!!!! Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Acne 1. B

  3. Glad to hear you'll try the BP, I think you'll notice big results. So will you save the Differin for applying at bedtime? I think that might work... but once you see what the daily BP does you may just want to stick with that... ; ) I noticed that you use Clinique products... I was really hoping they would work for me too, honestly, after pretty much trying 80% of the products (including make-up) in their line I only use a gel based cleanser on occassion and their sensitive skin toner.
  4. I found a BP gel called Solugel 4, it's 4% strength, but I've been having great success. It's sold at Shoppers Drug Mart for $18 or Superstore for $13. It's a way bigger tube than 25ml. It lasts me about three weeks following the Regimen precisely.
  5. Here's what I bought in Canada that's working.... Cleanser: Clean & Clear, Foaming Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin BP: Solugel4 (4%BP) only available at Shoppers Drug Mart ($18) or Superstore($12), no prescription needed Moisturizer: Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer And for the really flakey days buy Desert Essence Jojoba oil, also available at Superstore. Been using this combination, but following all Dan's rules precisely and I've only ever been this clear when I was on accutane. I think
  6. That's so awesome! And just you wait, every week it just gets better. Like I said, I'm about 9 weeks in and my skin has only ever been this clear while I was on accutane. The layering of the products morning and night is worth all the work! Isn't it??? You've inspired me to get Dan's products too, I was about to order them but it cost $50 in shipping just to send to Canada. I have no doubt it's worth it, so I'm doing it! Have you been to Mac yet?
  7. Hi there!!!! A little over two months ago, I was desperate to start my third cycle of Accutane... it's the only thing that's ever worked for me... I've tried all antibiotics, birth control, differin, clindoxyl, sulfacet... basically everything invented by a pharmaceutical company under the sun. Because I'm in a new city, I was on a three month waiting list to find a doc/dermatologist who would consider writing me that accutance rx. My face was out of control and I was desperate!!!!! I was rea
  8. Hi! So my drugstore miracle products are Clean & Clear's Foaming facial cleanser for sensitive skin, the BP I use is called Solugel 4 ( made in Quebec)- it's 4%, a little higher than the Regimen recommends but it seems to be working... I moisturize with Cetaphil daily moisturizer, and use Desert Essense jojoba when needed. How are your products working?
  9. Yes, isn't it funny how we think we need to scrub our faces with expensive products to see any results. I recently bought one of those pricey Clarisonic brushes thinking it was THE answer, all it did was grind the dirt and make up further into my pores and cause me to break out even worse. It turns out the more gentle- the more clear ; ) I wash my face with my finger tips now. Follow the regimen and you'll have a lot of success. I just use drugstore products too, ones that were recommended here
  10. I have a love/ hate relationship with foundation myself... I love it partly because it has given me the confidence to get out and enjoy my life, when otherwise I would be hiding out and waiting for my acne to heal. I hate it because for so long I was covering up the problem, thinking a solution was hopeless and probably making things worse... especially the nights I didn't wash it off. I still wear make up, and granted I would prefer I didn't have to, but acne prone skin is just the card I've be
  11. Hi!!! I'm not sure if you're following the Regimen and using benzoyl peroxide under your make up, but after years of constant break outs I'm having great success. I've only been on it for two months and am now completely clear... I've had some frustration with make up though, and I wear make up every day. I tried Almay because it was recommended on here, and it was complete crap. So I started looking around tried Clinique, Laura Mercier and - was disappointed with their liquid foundations to
    - great moisturizer - plumps up skin and gives skin a nice tone - the taste ( if you get it on your lips by accident) ugggh! I'm fairly new to moisturizers, never thought my oily skin needed a drink... but you don't water a plant with oil ! I've seen good results, but my skin is also 30 years old... maybe I wouldn't have reacted so well in my younger years. But I like this product.

    - can keep skin clear if applied properly, but it's all about the method - expensive - a lot of the products are unnecessary I've tried everything and done research, the proActiv people make you believe that they're selling a line that only works if all the products are used interconnectedly. Truth is, the only miracle is the benzoyl peroxide and HOW they tell you to apply it. BP and salicylic acid are the only products that give acne results in my experience and resea
    - Oil control + moisturizer = unique - Doesn't seem to cause break outs - Not the miracle oil control product it's advertised to be, at least not for me. I'm beginning to wonder if those who sell/promote products also give them high praise on review sites where they can. As a real person with moderately oily skin, this really is no different than any other oil control lotion I've tried, other than it has a thicker consistency and is also a moisturizer I'm still oily
