  1. Doxycycline cleared me of the active pimples. The scars just faded on their own. In fact, I think the antibiotics kinda slowed down the scar process. But it was very effective in preventing any new pimples. While I was on it, the skin on my back was so smooth.
  2. Hey, thanks for replying! www.Alphahydrox.com sells the lotion that Dan recommended, and right now there is no shipping fee, so it would be the same price as if you went to the store to buy it. I just bought some, and I will start using it once I get it. Yeah, back acne seems to last for a long time. I starting getting it when I was 19 and now I'm 24. My cousin had it into his 30s, but he got acupuncture and he said that got rid of it.
  3. For those of you who use any of the Alpha Hydrox products (Dan recommended the Enhanced Lotion), I just wanted to let you know there is a montly special right now where shipping is free on these products. www.Alphahydrox.com It's hard to find in stores, so now it's pretty much the same price to order it online since there is no shipping fee. I just ordered a bunch.
  4. Is the Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion oil-free? I do not want to clog my pores. I noticed that there is Alpha Hydrox Oil-Free Lotion for sale, too. Should I get this or should I just get the Enhanced Lotion? Did anybody get clogged pores from using the Enhanced Lotion???
  5. Just wondering if anyone here who follow's Dan's Bacne Regimen can let me know if it's been successful so far for them. I have mild to moderate back acne that went away when I used to take doxycycline. But I stopped taking it about a year ago, and slowly the back acne has crept back. Also, my other question is if back acne resolves itself like facial acne. Or does it tend to last longer than facial acne?
  6. I think you might have keratosis pilaris. My sister has this. She thought it was dry skin or maybe a rash of some sort. But, it's actually just plugged hair follicles. Keratosis Pilaris occurs when the skin on your arms does not shed regularly, and as a result, the skin just builds up around the hair follicles, giving your arms a rough appearance. Anyway, she tried moisturizing to make it go away, but I think she had the best results when she went to the derm and got a cream to put on her a
  7. August 13, 2004 It has been almost a month. My skin is back to normal and is doing fine. I still get small bumps in my T-zone, but I can control them with my regimen. I think the PanOxyl bar just dried my face out way too much and caused my skin to over produce oil and made me break out.
  8. July 14, 2004 It has been over four months since I last updated. My skin was so good for a while after I stopped taking Doryx. I actually thought my acne was gone. I'd still have a few bumps here and there, but nothing major. However, I have noticed that in the last two months, I have had more frequent breakouts. And, they are not just little bumps. They are real pimples. Right now, I have EIGHT real pimples on my face. Two huge ones on my nose, one on my forehead, and five scattered ar
  9. Hi. I took doxycycline for about a year, and then just stopped one day. The acne didn't come back, and so far it's been about two months and it's not back yet. I'm still using Duac gel at night on my face, and I'm hoping that will be sufficient to keep the acne away.
  10. End of Week 53: Wow, it's been one year since I started this regimen. I still use Duac nightly, but I stopped my Doxy pills about three days ago. I'm going to see what happens. If the acne starts again, I'll start the pills again. I started using this Clear Pore astringent from Neutrogena. But, I stopped a few days ago because it made my skin dry. I'll start again in the summer when the air is more humid and my skin won't dry out so fast. My skin is not at all the peaches and cre
  11. Hey! I also had mild acne, like how you described yours. My first derm put me on Differin and it just irritated my skin for about three months. My second derm put me on Duac. He said my acne was not severe enough for Differin. Duac has been great. I've been using it in combination with Doxy (but I just stopped Doxy three days ago) and although I get an occasional pimple, my skin is clear, and I'm starting to get compliments on how nice my skin is like how I did before my acne started.
  12. End of Week 49: Sorry that I haven't updated in more than a month. I reduced my medication to 75mg of Doryx per day. I still use the Duac on my face every night. I don't really use the Neutrogena Blackhead Clearing astringent regularly. My face is okay. I've had breakouts here and there as usual. Nothing major. My back is smooth. I find that I am coping better with pimples. I'm no longer devastated and upset when I get them. It sucks, but I've managed to just live with it. Ho
  13. End of Week 43: Man, I broke out even more. I got another one under my lip. My back is also breaking out. I think that the antibiotics are slowly losing their effect on me. But, I don't think that I will switch antibiotics. I will probably just rely on the topicals and be extra religious with my skin regimen. I hope next week is better!
  14. I take Doryx (doxycycline). I had lots of blackheads and pimples on my back for about a year and a half. But within one week of taking doxycycline, I noticed my back cleared up, and in one month, it was completely smooth It's still smooth now....and it's been almost eight months. I've heard that antibiotics really help with body acne. I also use Neutrogena Body Clear wash everyday just to make sure the pimples stay away!!
