    2yrs Acne highs&lows

This album shows how my acne developed from bad to terrible and then better. It all started August 2010 and got to its worst in Dec. 2010 despite two visits to two different derms. I've been on lots of different treatments but right now what I have is working very well (so happy). Will post more photos in a month.

    2014 Regimen

Two years have passed since my last blog post. Crazy. I never come to this site anymore BUT that is not to say that I don't appreciate everything it offered when I was in need. I found comfort here when I was depressed and feeling isolated, as though I had no hope to cure my severe acne. This community rocks because at minimum you know you are not alone. My routine has changed as my face has changed. It is very rare for me to get one cystic-type bump on my face now. I break out a little
  4. @Austra: Haha wow what a turn around! It is true in some pictures my scars look more severe than others. The ones in this post are taken with my dslr in daylight so they kind of exaggerate the "hills and valleys" of my face. @Trador: It is interesting that subcision has come up a lot for my scars, I hadn't considered it before. I wonder which is more cost effective- laser vs. subcision? I don't have the balls to needle my face. Just. too. scary. @sanjoseskin: You're right the last thing I wan
  5. @Waterboy and jamie10 ---> Thank you for your input! I'm considering dermarolling but definitely need to do more research on it. The idea of damaging my skin in order to repair it makes me nervous, I'll be honest. Headed over to the threat to read more.

    Scar Wars -what to do?

Here are the first painfully detailed images of my scars in high resolution . I don't know if or how I will approach treating them. It all depends on the resources available to me (mainly time and money). Suggestions welcomed!
  7. My acne has pretty much subsided and now I'm wondering what would be the best approach to treat my scars. I took several pictures at different angles so the scars would show clearly. There are definite indentations across my cheeks but my skin texture is also really really rough. I will go to a specialist but first I wanted to ask the forum. I'd really like to hear from someone who might have had similar scarring and how you handled it. Thanks in advance! About me: 26, Hispanic female Acne hist

    My Natural Regimen

I've come a long way from the days of prescription cleansers, pills and topicals. Some were helpful but all were harsh on my skin. Now that I'm out of the severe acne phase I'm trying to care for my skin naturally. Here is my nat. regimen: Morning - Rise and shine with a splash of warm water on the face. Apply moisturizer afterward. If I have a small breakout, I'll put some aloe gel on first and then moisturize. Afternoon- If needed (usually in the summer) wash with Dove sensitive skin bea
  9. Hi, I had to comment because I went through the same experience but in reverse! I moved from America to Europe right at the moment when my acne was most severe. At first it was hard to meet new people and relatives because I felt incredibly embarrassed but my partner convinced me that hiding from others is not the answer. All I can say is remember that they care about you as a person and not your face (say this over and over again if you have to). The beginning is the hardest but once you get o

    Vitex -My Hormonal Acne Helper

****EDIT 09-29-2012 I still take vitex daily but after moving (which kind of changed my diet) I had some small cysts popping up. Not cool acne, not cool! This finally led me to consider the role of sugar and dairy in my diet. That blog post coming soon******* Hi I wanted to add my support for vitex! I have not seen a lot of posts about it on Acne.org and I wanted to get a conversation going since I truly believe in it. I've been using vitex for the last six months and it has worked well for m
  11. Hi I had hormonal acne for a long time---cysts and small nodules on my jawline/cheeks. If you really want to get off of BC I suggest trying Vitex. It is a supplement that naturally balances women's hormones. I tried it when I felt I had nothing left to lose (it was that or get on BC or Accutane) and to my surprise it really worked for me. I wrote in more detail on my blog if you have questions.

    Acne Makeup

Even though I don't wear makeup often, I still like to put some on from time to time. A couple of years ago I did a purge of all the un-skin-friendly makeup I owned and only kept the good stuff. Here is what I put on my face. Bioderma ---Link to product: here Pros: I like Bioderma because I'm guaranteed a product that won't clog my pores. I've used their sebium facewash, sebium moisturizer and photoderm tinted face cream SPF50. I started using this brand because my derm recommended it to me.
  13. Hi I wanted to add my support for vitex! I've been using vitex for the last six months and it has worked well for me. At first I was very skeptical. I'm NOT someone who takes all kinds of vitamins at all but a friend of mine suggested this since it worked for her. According to my doctors I could either go on Diane BC or accutane. Both of those were options I desperately did not want to try so I gave Vitex a go. I've been taking one pill a day regularly (except for July when I went on vacation, a

I Am Losing The Fight With Birth Control.

Hi I wanted to add my support for vitex! I've been using vitex for the last six months and it has worked well for me. At first I was very skeptical. I'm NOT someone who takes all kinds of vitamins at all but a friend of mine suggested this since it worked for her. My choices at this point were birth control, accutane or vitex so I gave it a go. I've been taking one pill a day regularly (except for July when I went on vacation, and moved cities). So in short, I like it, it works and I recommend i
