  1. Good morning all, I have recently started wearing foundation. I am curious if putting on liquid foundation right after I apply benzoyl peroxide cream will decrease the effectiveness of the BP. Should I wait 10 or 15 minutes after applying the BP to put on my foundation? Thanks guys
  2. Use milk of magnesia topically it's seriously amazing.
  3. I also wanted to add that you could also do a drop of natural vanilla or stevia if it's not sweet enough for you. Personally, the natural sugar in the PB is enough for me. I would also recommend using the Smart Balance Omega 3 and not the Planters version which contains hydrogenated oil. The SB pb is all natural. I actually had this for breakfast yesterday and it was seriously amazing! It tasted like dessert Try this!!!! And let me know what you think
  4. Hey guys I just wanted to share this. I know it's difficult and time consuming to find good things to eat that are good for your skin and won't cause the blood sugar spikes that cause acne. This makes a good (quick) and healthy breakfast smoothie. 1/3 to 1/2 cup frozen pumpkin (I used Libby's canned for convenience and put it in the freezer overnight - fresh would be better if you can!) 1 to 2 Tbs Omega 3 fortified Peanut butter 1 cup unsweetened soy milk Dash of Cinnamon, ginger,
  5. I think I am going to go with some loose powder from Maybelline. Its called Maybelline New York Shine Free Oil-Control Loose Powder, Light 210. Or perhaps something by Physcian's formula. What do you all think about this?
  6. Recently I heard about this. I was wondering if anyone's tried it and if it works or not. I am going to school to be a nurse and will be working long shifts, up to 12 hours... My skin is mostly clear, although it tends to get extremely oily throughout the day. My usual routine is wash face when I get up around 9:00 then again again around 5 when I shower and at 6 I put on my tretinoin cream. Then don't wash again until morning. Help is much appreciated
  7. I've been looking into cooking oils lately and I want to make the right decision with which one to cook with. I use EVOO on salads and over cooked veggies but do not use it to cook with. Mostly I cook with coconut oil and butter. I've been thinking about cooking with canola because I a wary of the saturated fat in the coconut and butter. I have heard that at around a certain temperature that's too hot the oils can encourage cancer because the fatty acids break apart and become toxic... So I wan
  8. So true about the "normal" wanting to fit in bit. But you're right, I've really grown a substantial amount in my confidence in my diet... Just looking back on how much I've grown since changing it about a year and a half ago. Thanks for all the support guys
  9. I know! I hate when people ask me about my diet. I immediately blush and go into fight or flight mode... I've been doing better though lately though And thanks polite and direct is good I will remember that
  10. I often find myself having to dole out excuses in response to others' questions about why I'm not having the pie for dessert, skipped the mashed potatoes, or refused the free doughnut. It's so hard, not for me to not want to eat them but rather for me to say no. Because a slew of questions always follows. Which are usually derragatory, like, "You don't eat brownies? What's wring with you!?" It's embarassing and has driven me into isolation. Especially when it comes to eating out, when a tea
  11. Just found out that we'll be going to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving. I'm almost certain my healthy (but odd to them) eating habits will be a big topic of discussion thanks to mom.Thoughts on getting through this? Also there's the case of what to actually eat and what to say when they ask about why I will decline certain foods... like the pumkin pie, ice cream etc. high g.i. foods... looks like i'll make my meal out of the turkey! Advice/support/thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Pret
  12. Delicious ways to enjoy turmeric? (And enjoy its antinflammatory health benefits!) Indian dahl comfort food! (for 1) 1/2 cup soaked lentils chopped onion chopped bananna pepper 1/3 cup low sodium vegetable stock 1/3 cup tomato juice (or 2 tbs tomato paste) 1/4 tsp turmeric half of a 1/4 tsp cumin 1/2 tbs agave nectar 1/2 tbs EVOO dash of pepper *I didn't add diced tomato or celery but those would make lovely additions. Also I added a bit of Silk soymilk to make it creami
  13. Hi Chris, with insurance it was a 40 dollar copay (10 bucks a tooth ) I'm not sure what type of insurance we do have as we've been switiching alot lately. But I think without the insurance its like 400 :/ Don't quote me on that though could be less. Not too sure. Good luck! And for those who might be in a similar or upcoming situation and are looking for healthy "low glycemic" soft foods here's what I've done so far: Fish oil pills - super antiinflammatory: good for both acne and swelling Ca
  14. Hello all! Today I was lucky enough to spend the day getting my wisdom teeth out. Not as horrible as you might think but I've been extremely concerned about my diet (i.e. it must be soft foods) and the clindymcin I was prescribed. I hate the thought of killing my gut to save my teeth - or lack there of - but I was wondering if any of you all had some encouraging words about your experience concerning wisdom teeth removal and your diet. I've been getting friendly with my blender and tomorrow I th
  15. Thanks! What type of what do you personally drink alternavista? Just curious.
