  1. how do i review all my past postings? sorry, this is off topic. i will delete shortly.
  2. There are many different types of nerve 'sensors' on the skin which correspond to each dermatome of the face. When the face is dry, the nerves will transmit that information to the brain, which will increase the amount of sebum being produced by the sebaceous glands.
  3. The sebaceous glands are physiologically under the control of hormonal androgens. These hormones are manufactured in the adrenal glands and testicals. Not washing your face will not diminish the production of androgens, therefore will do nothing in the overall scheme of defeating acne.
  4. What Causes Acne Acne is caused by a number of factors which boil down to the pores being clogged with debris. Internally, sebaceous glands are stimulated to produce sebum, which allow bacteria and fungus to thrive on the skin. The bacteria and fungus alone cause only minor irritation and inflammation, however their end metabolites especially irritate the dermis, causing traditional acne. The methods to attack acne include 1) reducing the factors which cause the sebaceous glands to produce sebu
  5. How to Defeat Acne Beginner level : Uses - For mild to severe acne. Needs - At least 2 days at home. Methodology : This is simply to dry the face as much as possible as well as removing large debris, and increasing the skin pH (1), whic
  6. Salicylic acid pads +%2.0, Triclosan cleansing cream +%.3, and Benzoyl Peroxide plus aloe treatment +%10 is probably the most effective way to defeat acne in 2-3 weeks. This, in conjuction with a prescription antibiotic such as tetracyclin (oral or topical) is ideal.
  7. Interesting theory's and information. My personal theory is that acne is an allergic-type inflammatory reaction to the bacteria Propionibacterium Acnes and more specifically to an end metabolite of sebum. This would make sense because propionibacterium is part of the normal flora so should affect everyone to some degree in the same way. What we find is that some people are more prone to inflammation than others. One way to look at it would be to suggest that some people produce more sebum than o
  8. Thank you apple for your response. BenKweller : I understand that the bacterium causes the inflammation, but like other inflammatory responses treated with anti-inflammatories, it is possible that the bacterium does not warrant an immuno-inflammatory response, therefore the treatment is misdirected. Instead of trying to kill the bacterium via bactericidals (BP, salicylic acid, so forth), treatment might be aimed at preventing the human immune system from treating the bacterium like an invading
  9. Is the bacterium that causes acne actually a virulent pathogen that requires the inflammatory response as seen in typical acne, requiring bactericidal topical solutions such as benzoyl peroxide or salicyclic acid, or can it be cured via symptomatic anti-inflammatories?
