  1. Sorry whats PIH? Well then use what you have and order some samples, they ship pretty quick. Im not sure what PIH is, but the foundations cover pretty much the most sever cases of acne. My sister had cystic acne and it really covered everything but it also helped her skin too.
  2. I agree with this statement. A good cleanse of any kind always removes fruit for at least 30 days due to the sugars they contain. Most people with acne have some form of gut dysbiosis including candida overgrowth. Fruits of any kind will feed candida therefore making you more prone to breakouts. HCI is good as it makes your stomach juices more acidic and helps to acidify your bowel, which in turn can help with killing pathogens and helping those who have constipation issues. However if you work
  3. Nuts in general are very hard on the digestion. It is ideal to soak them if you choose to eat them as they contain phytic acid (inhibits absorption of vital nutrients) and enzyme inhibitors. When you soak them in water overnight you remove these inhibitors and reduce the phytic acids so that you can break them down easier. It is probably best though to avoid nuts if you have digestive issues or eat them in moderation as they are hard on the digestion.
  4. Western Medicine puts a focus on disease not on health. They check for disease states with their tests so those who are "falling apart" but not at the "disease state" will show up fine. Have you gone to a naturopath? A naturopath will check in between the lines and can help you before you get to a disease state, however I believe that acne (and mineral/vitamin imbalance) all stems from gut dysbiosis. 80% of our immunity comes from our gut so if our gut isn't healthy neither are we. Gut dysbiosis
  5. Crystal Willow- I can give you plenty of places to start and I did reference a big one in my post above. Read the book Dangerous Grains by JAMES BRADLY MD. You are dead on correct that acne comes from several different issues, hormonal, topical, some who have PCOS. Exactly. And yes diet plays a huge factor into all of these conditions as your body is a bunch of parts that equal one whole. That is the problem with western medicine they often put too much attention on specific body parts (we have
  6. Might I ask what your natural and healthy recommendation is? Mineral makeup in general is the best thing for acne prone skin. I know there are several brands floating around here that people like. I would just say look for a brand that does not contain bismuth oxychloride, silicones or lauroyl lysine as many people experience breakouts from these. I have heard pretty good things about meow and hello minerals although I haven't tire them personally. I use faerie organics minerals as they do not
  7. http://www.health-report.co.uk/ingredients-directory.htm Sorry I can't seem to find the actual page I was at. Great Post though Adelyn!
  8. I actually just found a pretty accurate and very thorough review of Paula Begoun. Here is a clip from the review the whole review can be found here...........http://www.epinions.com/review/Book_Don_t_Go_to_the_Cosmetics_Counter_Without_Me_Paula_Begoun_Bryan_Barron/content_78407437956 This is someones opinion but she makes several valid points on why I do not follow any of Paulas advice. "Paula begins the book by telling the story of working as an Elizabeth Arden saleswoman, and getting fi
  9. Great Post Gemmy! I totally disagree with Paula on so many levels. I do not find her research credible at all, I read her books and found them to be complete garbage. Being someone who is largely into Holistic health/Dermatology and studies Herbally, I find that anything that stops the bodies natural detoxification process will indeed cause problems. Yes, Silicones do STOP the skin from detoxing! The info below is from the UK Health Report. They have much stricter guidelines on what is allowed i
  10. Whew! This is a crazy topic but one that is so important! Diet is a huge factor in acne. End of story. Our food supply is the number one thing to blame for acne (whatever kind of acne you have) hormonally, topically whatever it is all one in the same. Your body works as a whole you cannot say it is simply my hormones, because your hormones are regulated by your thyroid your thyroid is regulated by your adrenals, your adrenals deal with stress and toxin overload and become stressed so that your t
  11. I would be careful with any foundation that contains silicones as they are occlusive and put a layer across the skin like saran wrap over your face, and they do not let your skin provide the very important task of detoxification. Bourjois healthy mix isn't very healthy at all. The ingredient listing is ............Water, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium chloride, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Disodium Ste
  12. Hot burrito I feel for you. You need to look into your diet as acne can often be associated to allergies to certain foods. Topical products can only do so much for you, although the wrong ones an simply create a mess. Mineral makeup allows your skin to breathe and can actually be good for acne prone skin as it often has titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in large quantities which are highly anti-inflammatory so they can aid in healing redness and inflammation. Since they are dry/powder form they he
  13. I use foundation from faerie organic (they have $5 sampler kits). It only has 5 ingredients so the odds of allergy or irritation to it is extremely low, this is why I am a big fan of mineral makeup in general. It covers very well, yet reduces the likeliness that you would breakout from it due to the lack of fillers and chemicals. The only other advice I would give is make sure you are using a good skin care regimen that is chemical/synthetic free or the minerals may not apply right, as some peop
  14. Morrocan oil has nothing good in it except for a very small amount of argan oil. The rest is a chemical filled product. The ingredients are........ Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butylphenyl, MethylPropional, Argania Spinoza Kernal Oil (Aragan Oil), Linseed (Linum Usitatissimum) Extract, Fragrance Supplement, D&C Yellow-11, D&C Red-17, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone I am not surprised if this caused your massive breakouts as the number 1 ingredient
  15. Frustrated woman- They use silica, which is more often the cause of breakouts. Calcium silicate really isn't that terrible of an ingredient, you are reading the OSHA MSDS form which is for those handling truckloads of it and still isn't that big of a concern according to their MSDS. The breakouts you experienced are most likely from the silica not the calcium silicate. Silica is oil absorbing and some people can use it without issue but many of those with acne can experience breakouts in a major
