  1. I've been dealing with acne for over 8 years. I recently got prescribed Accutane, but after reading about the numerous possible side effects I'm becoming extremely weary of continuing using it. I have read that taking large quantities of Vitamin A will give me the same results but with alot less risk. Has anyone tried this?
  2. So I just picked up my 30 day supply of Accutane (the brand I got is called Amnesteem) and I'm starting my treatment today. I had a few questions about possible side effects though. The two that worry me the most are hair loss and depression or psychosis. I really don't want to lose any of my hair, and possible mental health problems sound quite scary. Has anyone who's taken Accutane experienced these? Are these somewhat normal or very rare side effects? Side note: I also know that dry e
  3. I've just been prescribed Accutane. You have the same problem as me, I'm almost 23 and while my acne isn't severe it is very persistant, I haven't had a clear face in over 8 years. Your skin looks like it produced alot of oil, as did mine, and that could be the problem. Accutane is supposed to shrink the oil glands.
  4. But how often do you have to use them? Is there ever a point where you don't have to put hard chemicals all over you face every day? I've also tried removing different things from my diet but that does not seem to be the issue. I just want my acne to be gone and not have to constantly worry about washing my face and putting creams on it 2 times a day.
  5. I'm 22 now, almost 23, and I've had acne since I was 14. I have no had a clear face in the past 8 years. I've been on 4 different kinds of antibiotics in the past 4 years, I've Proactiv, the acne.org regimen, Differin, and other store bought solutions and still nothing has worked. I've also tried every other home rememdy such as taking zinc, vitamin d, sleeping on a clean towel, not touching my face, etc. My acne isn't terrible, but it's very persistant. I have about 8-10 pimples on my f
  6. I don't know what to do anymore I'm 22, almost 23 now. I've had acne since I was 14 and it has barely subsided. I've tried almost everything: Proactiv Multiple face washes Acne.org regimen 3 or 4 kinds of antibiotics Differin Removing things like dairy and sugar from my diet Sleeping on a clean towel every night Forgot to add: One 5,000 IU vitamin D capsule daily One 50 mg Zinc daily Water keifer Right now I was my face with benzoyl peroxide twice a day and use Differin nightly,
  7. I've read alot of reviews on this site that taking a Zinc supplement really helps with acne. What exactly do I need to look for when buying it? I don't want to buy it online, I'd rather just get it in a store. I'll most likely be getting it from Walmart, so again, what should I be looking for?
  8. I'm kind of in the same boat. I've had acne since I was 14, I'm 22 now. It's definitely not as bad as it was, I only have a breakout here and there but it's very persistant. I probably have 5 active zits on my face right now and probably 10-15 red areas. i'm hoping this goes away but I am treating it.
  9. I've been prescribed Differin and Minocycline by my dermatologist. I wanted to get opinions on the treatment. I've read that alot of people experience an initial breakout after a few weeks of use, how common is this? My acne isn't too bad but it has not gone away since I was 14 (22 now). How long did the initial breakout last? How long until your skin was clear? I've been using it for about a week now. I also wash my face with Panoxyl twice a day and take minocycline twice a day.
  10. Question for people on the regimen, even after your skin has cleared do you still have to consistently use the regimen? Has anyone been able to live without relying on the regimen day in and day out?
  11. I'm reading over the instructions for the regimen and the part about leaving it on the face concerns me. If I put on a shirt afterwards will it bleach the shirt? What if I take a nap later, will it bleach the pillow?
  12. I've been taking antibiotics for a while now. A couple years ago I stopped taking them and my face broke out more horribly than it ever had before. I'm back on antibiotics and it keeps the acne down to a much lower level however I still do have small breakouts from time to time. How would you recommend I get off of antibiotics? I don't want to live the nightmare I did when I stopped taking them.
  13. I've recently been prescribed DIfferin. So far my regimen has consisted of washing my face with a generic face wash, using BP gel at night and taking Cephalexin twice a day. Is it bad to use both BP and Differin? I'm planning on using BP after I shower in the morning and Differin at night.
  14. I've used other BP treatments, and they only dried out my skin if I put it on more than twice a day. I don't really have money to get the full regimen kit right now, so I thought I'd just get the 2.5% BP. Am I going to need a moisturizer that badly?
  15. I was on solodyn for 10 months or so, and I was pretty clear. I've been off it for a month or two and it seems my acne has relapsed. Do I need to ask for a bigger dosage? And if I get back on it how long should I expect it to take for me to be clear again?
