  1. 2 year post-accutane update! The good: -acne is still gone -back never flared up again -skin not as oily as it once was - i still have to moisturize! -Until I went back and read my old posts I completely forgot about all the side effects I went through. -I love my new skin, and I got to keep it after all. -when i get a zit on my face it is tiny and not inflamed, and it just kind of evaporates on its own within a day or two. - I have had only one "big" zit in the last two years and
  2. POST ACCUTANE - 3.5 weeks -Got two zits - small- one on my back and one on my cheek. They aren't inflamed or big, not even very red. HOpefully they will just disappear in a few days. It is so strange to have a zit on my face after not having any for 6 months. My knees are hurting still. My stiffness is mostly gone. I hope my knee pain is the last to go. My hair is still shedding at a rate I don't like........
  3. Update - My lips are completely back to normal. It's so nice! Also, the itchy arms have disappeared, finally. My scalp is just now tolerating regular shampoo again. My heel pain is gone. I'm still very stiff all over and having joint/muscle pain. My face is still nice and dry (HOORAY) and no acne anywhere. (YES!!!) Bad things: because the accutane is still in my system, it predisposed me to hyperacuity in my ears. Just suddenly, out of nowhere, my hearing became distorted last wednesday
  4. 3 weeks post accutane: My hair is still shedding the way it did during the course....abnormally high shedding. My face is just now starting to feel a tad oily. My scalp is getting some oil back, but is still pretty dry. Lips are back to normal, face is flaking a bit. I'm having some knee discomfort after working out on the treadmill which I know is part of accutane's aches and pains. The other aches and pains have dissipated, though. HOpefully they are on their way out, never to return again.

  6. 27 yr old female, 110 pounds, mild acne on face, (but very persistent,) and moderate acne on back. (Very painful and itchy.) Well, I made a mistake and thought all the accutane logs went up on the blog section, so I created a blog. Oops. Below is the link to my accutane log which I diligently kept for 5 months. http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...logid=4282& I am now 4 days post-accutane and I can already feel my lips coming back. My hair is still shedding a lot the way it wa
  7. ABRIDGED VERSION - ACCUTANE LOG (Claravis) Month 1 - 40 mgs, once per day (taken on empty stomach) Day 5 - first side effect appeared: dry, flaky scalp By end of Week 1: -itchy skin set in: arms, neck -scalp felt noticeably less oily -fatigue became noticeable -ears stopped producing oily wax -lips chapped, of course Day 12 - first sign of muscle/joint aches and pains appear -slight redness appears in face By end of week 2: - Bacne calmed down -overall itchiness incre
  8. Hello everyone. The day I started accutane I kept copious notes on my computer. I will post the long version and the abridged version (for those who don't have the attention span.) I am a young woman, 27, 110 lbs, with mild acne, but very persistent (on face.) My back was another story. It was moderate and VERY persistant, itchy and painful. I didn't realize how bad either one was until it was gone. I went off accutane today, and I will note my progress as all my side effects wear o
  9. Sorry to hear about this. And I completely appreciate the tragic Flowers for Algernon reference. BUT...I also think it's totally reasonable to accept a little breakout before/during your period. I think that is something most have to deal with, even after accutane. Don't torture yourself with worry, just see how it goes, and use the differin gel religiously until it goes away. At the very least, you'll only have to deal with a short spell of zits during PMS and period time...then it's back

    Pillow cases

Oh, and I forgot to say...I use cotton pillow cases only. I would never use silk because your facial and hair oils sit right on top of silk. Cotton absorbs it. It's an icky-factor for me....
  11. Did the hemp lip balm break you out? It has coconut oil in it, which is comedogenic...I didn't see this on the ingredient label until I bought some yesterday. If it didn't break you all out, then I'll continue to use it....

    My Accutane Adventure

Hi, I just want to tell you that I understand the heel/ankle pain. I had it every day on 40 mg, so my doc switched me to 20. I STILL get it by the end of the day now, though its only been 11 days on the new dose, and it's not as bad as it was. I"m trying ibuprofen to help. Maybe it will help you too...
  13. I was on 40 mg, skin was clear, but side effects were bad. Doc switched me to 20, then told me that if I flare up I can alternate 20/40 each day. Just wondering if this was effective for anyone...

    Sore Ribs on Accutane??

Absolutely- you and I experienced the SAME thing. Horrible, sore ribcage, ribcage pain. I had that same experience with lying down on my chest and getting up and OH THE PAIN!!! I was on 40 mgs per day then as well. My doc lowered me to 20 because I couldn't stand the body aches/pains. Basically, that ribcage soreness happened to me around my 2nd week, then the aches and paines just spread out to all over my body, including my wrists, legs, (stiff, stiff legs,) shoulders, neck, my sides....it
