  1. Accutane Experience

    Day 35

Happy to hear you're doing better! It sounds like you have a great derm, good luck with your appointment. Let us know how it goes. I just updated my blog, not much has changed.
  2. Not a lot has changed. My skin is still flaky. I think I've been using too much moisturizer, because I'm still getting pimples. I had a huge one on my cheek that was really 2 right next to each other. It's still healing, and it's been there for about a week and a half. I have consistently had 3-4 pimples that are active or healing since doubling my dosage up to 80mg. The red marks are still fading. My lips are really, really chapped. The inside of my nose is bloody and uncomfortable. T
  3. I've been updating my blog, instead of this thread. Just started my second month, if any of you are interesting in reading about my progress/side effects. I'll post a picture soon.
  4. Well, I'm back to square one with the side effects this week after doubling my dose of Claravis on Monday. Ouch. Flaky & peeling skin, dry eyes, lips are so chapped they are cracking and bleeding, muscles are sore, knees ache, and I have 2 new big pimples. Oh, and the orange peel skin is back on my forehead. I hope that doesn't mean I'll be really oily again before I dry up. It's such a gross combination to be oily and flaky at the same time. To top it all off, I had a migraine for
  5. **WARNING** Lengthy entry! I've made it through my first month on Claravis! Tomorrow is my one month appointment, even though I'm on day 34 today. My doctor is going on vacation, so they had to schedule me out a little more than 30 days. I had to skip a few pills over the 30 day to compensate, instead of quitting for 4 days. It hasn't seemed to make a difference, as my skin looks great now. I just have 2 pimples now and they're small. I've been on a quest to find new products that
  6. Now this is what I like to hear! I am so happy for you lady! Great news. It will only get better from now on. I'm anxious to hear what your derm does for month 2, if you'll be doubling your dose like I am.
  7. Accutane Experience

    Day 12

Oh Coxy! I will get better, I promise! I'm glad you got the Prednisone. I've been on that, the mood swings were terrible. I was the biggest bitch ever. I hope that doesn't happen to you! I hope you get some relief soon. As far as the itching...everywhere, it really does dry you out EVERYWHERE. For real. Try picking up a personal lubricant and using that, it might help. I was warned by someone who's sister had been on Accutane and was prepared! Gawd, please let all of this be worth it,
  8. Haven't updated in a while because I cut the crap out of my finger this weekend and had to get stitches! Typing is slow and hurts. I just sharpened my knives too. Half my finger is numb, cut through a nerve. I'm hoping it gets better, because it's really uncomfortable right now. I type all day at work too. BLAH. Skin is waaaaay better, not oily at all. I have 4 small pimples, no cysts. All manageable, I can't complain! I've noticed over the past few days my scars are really healing
  9. Accutane Experience

    Day 5

Loni,How are things going for you? An update?
  10. You're so lucky you're not flaking/peeling much! This morning I could peel off the skin under my nose, like peeling after a sunburn! Gross. I'm a picker too, which I know is soooo bad and leaves nasty scars. I have the bloody nose too, but just when I blow it. Today is the first day since my initial breakout that my skin looks clearer, so things are turning around! I hope they are for you too. Have you noticed that your pimples are healing faster?
  11. Accutane Experience

    Day 8

Have you tried Neosporin yet? That's what I've been using on my pimples, and it does't seem to be making them any worse. Things are healing faster, the longer I'm on the Claravis. I don't always trust what the dermatologist gives me, because about a month and a half ago my derm prescribed a topical antibacterial that had alcohol in it! Never, ever should you put alcohol on your skin. It damages it and inhibits healing. My derm did say use a mineral or oil free makeup, and an oil free lotio
  12. I asked my derm at my last appointment what his dosage plan was for me, along with about 100 other questions. Yes, I got up to 80 on June 14th, which will be the start of my 2nd month. That's double the dose I'm on now, and I'll stay at 80 for the last 3 months of my treatment and then I'm done. I have everything scheduled so that I get my labs and pregnancy tests done before my derm appointment. I am afraid things will get worse, since I've already had pretty intense side effects at 40mg t
  13. Just a little over 2 weeks down! Things are changing. Yesterday I noticed the skin on my forehead was getting tight. I'm dryer overall today for sure. Today was the first day I didn't have an oil slick on my nose and have to use any powder. I'm a little worried about how dry I'll get, since I'm half way through my first month at 40mg, then I bump up to 80mg in 15 more days. What will that do to me????? Eeeeeeeek! I also started to get a crack in the middle of my bottom lip, despite ap

    Day 6

Oh lady, I hope it gets better for you soon. You just have to get through this part. I saw that you posted a question asking what to do about cysts. I've been using Neosporin since I saw that! I'm hoping it works. You're smart to use less makeup right now, to let everything heal. I don't know if I could be that brave. I feel like I'm putting more on to hide the mess. Our skin is so sensitive right now, we have to be careful what we put on it. I keep forgetting about the time difference a
  15. Just because someone else starts getting flaky in a few days, or a week, doesn't mean you should. Your skin is just different. I'm sorry to hear you're breaking out so bad right now. I've used hydrocortizone cream on my huge pimples before, to help them heal. Just make sure it doesn't have any added mineral oil. I found a good one with aloe and it seems to help with inflammation. I know, my skin probably doesn't look all that bad, especially since it did get a chance to clear up before I
