  1. Hello guys, I used to be an active member on this forum years ago, but ever since I took Accutane for 6 months during high school my skin has been manageable. Now I use Neutrogena oil free acne wash and it works great. The only problem I have (as you can see from the pics) is that taking Accutane left behind some scars that I'm trying to get rid of if possible. I've had them since I ended treatment around early 2011. I've tried some products in the Acne.org regimen in the past when my acne was w

  3. Starting Summer of 2010, I started my 6 month long treatment of Accutane. I was given a high dosage in my opinion (the first month I took 40 mg a day, and the other five I took 80 mg a day). It was a success and after the 4th month I completely stopped getting ANY bumps at all! I was amazed and even found myself forgetting to wash my face regularly. While on treatment I didn't get many side effects, (including dry, chapped lips) the only ones I remember are common bloody noses, and everyone tho
  4. I've never heard of this, but after Accutane I started getting mild acne to come back (not nearly as bad as before) and I am able to control it with this product I use called Yes to Tomatoes. it's basically a 3 step product like ProActiv or AcneFree. A cleanser, a repairing "lotion, and a rolling ball stick (which you "roll" over your existing pimples). And the main ingredient in all 3 of these products is (you guessed it) Tomatoes! it works AMAZINGLY and usually gets rid of all my acne in 3 day
  5. It's been a year and a half since I've finished Accutane, and a little over a year after that my acne came back! I'm still thankful I took it because although my acne came back, all I need is an over the counter face wash to help since its so mild (before not even prescriptions could help me!!) also how long did you take it for and how many mg's? For my info see below, but I want to see how different everyone's results are.
  6. Being a trashy reality tv addict, I was watching the premiere of Bethenny Frankels talk show today, and it was on cheap alternatives to beauty products (much more interesting than in sounds) and one of her examples was using a banana peel and rubbed it on one of her pimples for like 10 seconds and it was gone! She even had one of the audience members try it! Granted, their pimples were relatively tiny compared to how some board members might be, but I knew I had to post on here if anyone was act

    Banana Peels For Pimples?

Granted the pimples weren't that big, really like Katy Perry on the Proactiv commercials big, but yes it did. I'm asking on here to see if it works with a little more severe acne

    Tomatoes For Acne?

@Epicdermis! thanks for the study! The product works really well, so it might just be the Salicylic Acid, either way i'm going to keep using it. It's just weird to me they put emphasis on the use of tomatoes, but they use different fruits/vegetables in their products for naturalness. Like "Yes to Blueberries" for wrinkles, "Yes to Carrots" for body lotion. they even use tomatoes in their hair shampoo/conditioner products hahaha
  9. Even though you didn't list it, I would use Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser. Although i didn't use THAT version (because it's for oily skin) I used Cerave Hydrating Cleanser along with the moisturizer while I was on Accutane and it worked amazingly, I figured if the hydrating cleanser (which is for dry skin) worked good, why wouldn't do Foaming cleanser work as well for oily skin? It's pretty much the same as Cetaphil with more helpful ingredients.

    Tomatoes For Acne?

Yeah, Salicylic Acid is the active ingredient, i just said Tomatoes was since the product puts so much focus on them as the helpful ingredient in the product, even though Salicylic Acid is the common acne fighter, so I didn't know if BOTH were. On my bottle, it says for key ingredients just Salicylic Acid and Lycopene (which i'm sure means Tomatoes lol)
  11. Everyone responds differently to Accutane! I didn't start seeing improvement during Accutane until month 4! (i was on for 6 months) and have been clear for a year now! I mean, i started getting mild breakouts after 9 months being off it, but it's not like it was before, where over the counter could not help!
  12. Am i the only one that just finds this completely wrong? http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Dr-Oz-Demonstrates-How-to-Properly-Pop-a-Pimple-Video why would you stick a needle through your zit and rip it? How is that better than popping it? it seemed like it would damage the skin and you would end up with a scab in its place instead of just a dark blemish. I understand the needle but actually ripping the zit?!

    Taking Accutane 3 Times Daily

i would definitly take 40 in the morning and 20 at night. Roche doesn't reccomend taking 1 pill a day (even though i did for a short time with just 1 40 mg pill for my first month) but only reccomends taking 2 a day for optimal results and possibly as a safer result?
  14. just had to comment on this again LOL. TOTALLY have to agree that no matter what, our skin will never be good enough in our own eyes. I remember after I stopped accutane i looked at my face smiling and then i remembered. I have 7 moles on my face! it never bothered me before, but it was like, now that i didn't have acne to worry about, i tried to worry about something else LMAO completely rediculous I know, i should have just been happy to be acne free! but I looked up mole removal for 3 weeks
  15. I've been off Accutane for about 7 months now and my acne is starting to creep back up. It's pretty mild, just forehead acne (for some reason, forehead acne doesn't bother me. When it's on my cheeks, nose, then it's an issue) I probably wouldn't even think about starting a second round of accutane until this summer, before my Senior year of high school. But I am curious If a second round would be good if my acne tends to get worse? Or how late I should take the second round? I haven't discussed

Second round of accutane? Or just go OTC.

I agree, I would like to stay as OTC as possible, possibly trying Dan's regimen again. I would really only consider a second course of accutane if my acne became moderate or GOD FORBID severe. even then i would definitly suggest me derm give me a smaller dosage than my 80 mg a day before.

    Dr. Oz on popping zits.

lol yeah, that giant zit was pretty rediculous. i wouldnt be the one to test this method out. I've never watched Dr. Oz but......
  18. completely agree. I am fortunate to go to a high school where even though a small amount of the kids have acne, all the kids just look at it as a "normal stage" instead of it being GROSS! yes, i had severe acne my freshman year and let it get me down all year long, but noone ever stared at it or made fun of it or pointed it out, which always in the back of my head shocked me. The summer of Sophomore year I took Accutane, and it has kept me clear for 7 months (it recently started coming back, but
  19. im late here. but im a mascot at an indoor children's theme park. and whats sad is even though i LOVE the job because i love kids, the only reason i got it is because 90% of the time i'm not showing my face. even though I took accutane and am pretty much 80% clear at the moment (no it didnt completely work, but at the same time im glad its better than before!) i NOW find myself becoming self concious with just ONE zit popping up, because im not used to having a full face of severe acne like i us

Second round of accutane? Or just go OTC.

Thanks! Personally, I think even if my acne came back after a second course, I would not risk a third
  21. After my derm visit I just had to get blood test, wait for the results to come back (about 3 days) then I was on my way to get my Accutane!
  22. I've been off accutane for a year but i STILL cant stop saying good things about it. It is an amazing feeling to wake up and not feel any bumps on your face, i dont mean to sound cocky but ever since i ended Accutane I still start and end the day looking in the mirror and smiling at my face/self. i never thought i would be this happy. I've never actually been a victim of abuse because of my acne, i'm luck enough to go to a school where everyone just views acne as something natural that happens t
  23. well, i dont know if other countries see Accutane as like, Cocaine or meth? hahaha. JK. im sure you'll be fine.
  24. i dont understand your point on the first Physically better response? are you talking about Bacne? haha (sorry im slow) also, im happy for you! Accutane is truly a miracle, however dont get too excited. I mean because you are a girl and can use makeup it wont be that bad. but now almost a year off of Accutane my acne has come back, but its nowhere near as bad as it was before, and its nothing a little salicylic acid can't fix overnight ;-]
