  1. How are you doing?! I would love to get an update!
  2. Hang in there! I took 200mg/day and it probably wasn't until 8-9 months until I saw improvement. I still breakout, but no longer get cysts. I wish it was a miracle drug for me, but I'm happy I can at least put cysts behind me.
  3. Hey! I like your blog. Just wanted to say I actually lost weight on Spiro; about 10lbs without changing anything. It was an unexpected, but very positive side effect for me!
  4. Thank you both for taking the time to respond! I really wish I could train myself to stop being so hyper-focused on this area of my face and just take it all in as a whole. I think the fact that the scars represent emotional trauma in my life is what makes me so miserable about seeing them everyday. It feels like if I can fix the physical trauma, I can work towards healing the emotional. I will definitely start conservative with treatments. Thanks again!
  5. Hey guys, I can't believe I'm posting a picture of my biggest insecurity on the Internet for the world to see... But I could really use some of your valuable input on what treatments would be the most beneficial for my type of scarring. I feel the collective on this site is likely to have more knowledge in this area than a lot of physicians out there. I have a consultation tomorrow to explore my options and I would like to make an informed decision. The picture is not great, I apologize!
  6. There is definitely potential for improvement! Honestly, they really aren't that bad. Most just look like large pores. I'm sorry to hear you're suffering though. I know how devastating acne scars can be.
  7. Thank you for sharing your progress! PS - you are gorgeous, scars or no scars.
  8. I think Skin79's BB cream, the orange label, is really great for fair skin with yellow undertones. It's also great for acne prone skin. Most BB creams seem to have a gray or orange undertone, so this one's my favorite.
  9. Exceeded my expectations

Try it! It not only cleared my acne almost instantly, it has remained clear despite quitting Spironolactone cold turkey. It also had the added bonus of bringing back my period which I haven't had for an entire year. Balanced hormones seems to really agree with me and it might with you too. Oh, and it has a lot of positive reviews in terms of conception. I'll be updating if I'm also able to become pregnant with continued use (we've been trying for 16 months and on various fertility meds so it wou
  10. I am SO sorry to hear people around you are so cruel, especially your family. It's a shame they aren't able to show any empathy or compassion for what you're going through. Luckily, you have a family here. Feel free to PM if you ever need to talk.
  11. I can so relate. Even when my skin is clear, I'm completely covered in scars around my mouth, cheeks, nose and forehead. It makes clear skin less satisfying because of the constant reminder of how bad it used to be. Would you be willing to post a picture? I'm positive your skin looks far better to outsiders than it does to you.
  12. Thank you, Ben! It's easy to feel like the only adult in the world with acne.... I've always been the only person with acne in my past jobs and even my master's program. When I was younger I used to ask my mom when I would grow out of it and she said she did in her 20s. Sometimes it gave me hope and got me through some really low lows with my skin. Unfortunately, my 20s came and went and I'm still suffering. Ughhhhh...
  13. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! The feeling of absolute doom and helplessness is just the worst. I'm going to work today with makeup caked on my flakey, blemished face. Ugh. I just want to fast forward through this breakout, preferably under a rock where no one has to look at me. Thanks again for responding.
  14. For the most part, my skin has been doing 100x better than my teenage and college years. I would have a pimple here and there, but it was manageable. Then out of nowhere, I wil get a bad breakout (like I did yesterday) and become absolutely hopeless and depressed. Yesterday my skin looked pretty good, I had two pimples, but I was totally fine with that. We went and saw a movie and had a nice Sunday. I'm waiting in the line for red box before we go home when I catch a glimpse of my reflection.. M
  15. Are you still taking the Spiro? For me, it took about 9 months to kick in. I had several bad breakouts before then, but it was definitely worth it in the end. Hang in there!
