  1. Yup! I went in about two weeks ago for my four month check up (completion of four months, that is), and my doctor was surprised that I'm still breaking out. Prior to that, I had also been seeing results (nothing significant, but my face was making slight progress). In my experience (and based on what I've seen on this forum), it's hard to define what 'normal' is for your skin while on Accutane.
  2. ...just wanted to add my experience in here....i had three wisdom teeth pulled recently while on accutane. in terms of pain, it took about two weeks for me to completely recover (definitely used all the pain meds prescribed by the oral surgeon!!), but it's doable if you need to get your wisdom teeth out. just be sure to check with your derm first!
  3. The same thing happened to me and I mentioned it to my derm at one of my appointments ... she just thought it was strange but didn't offer any explanation for why it might be happening.
  4. good luck and hang in there! you've found a very supportive community here
  5. I have allergies as well and experienced the red, itchy, bloodshot, puffy eyes! It was awful!! I would joke with my roommates that I looked like I was high going into work. Those symptoms lasted for about 2 - 2.5 weeks - I didn't call or go into see my doctor specifically for that reason. I guess I would say wait it out if you can. I took Claritin a few times, which seemed to help, but I would recommend spreading your accutane dose and the Claritin (or whatever allergy med you might take) o
  6. You do not need to be concerned about the quality of generic brands of accutane (I assume you're filling your prescriptions at a pharmacy...). The article below dispels common myths about generic versus name brand prescriptions: http://www.ehow.com/about_5591329_generic-...edications.html
  7. Agreed. And if your mom has specific concerns regarding the rare side effects, have her talk to your dermatologist.
  8. So -- has anyone's period been affected by being on accutane? I have a normal cycle...usually get it around the third week of the month (which was about a week and a half ago). Well, I just got it again yesterday....it may be significant that I'm on birth control but I missed two pills over the weekend (I'm not sexually active, so getting pregnant is not a worry at all). But would that be enough to screw it up? Or could it be a combo of accutane and missing those two pills? I don't know if
  9. My IB started at the end of the third week and I guess I'd say that it's been slowly improving since the end of the sixth week.
  10. I don't know what maxclarity is, so I can't comment on that! I have moderate, persistent acne and I experienced a pretty bad IB - I started out with a high dosage though - 60 mg/day. Blood work is required every month. I don't know how it works for guys starting accutane (I assume you're a guy based on your username), but two negative pregnancy tests are required for females before we can start (two pregnancy tests that are taken one month apart). Good luck! [Note: I live in the U.S.]
  11. Thanks! Has anyone tried the "Multi-Grain Makeup" from Origins? Thinkffast - is that what you're referring to when you're talking about the foundation and cover up?
  12. How does emu oil compare to jojoba oil??? What are people's experiences with using one or the other? I'm using jojoba oil (from this website) and it's hard to tell if it's making a difference -- I've been using it for about a month now.
  13. I'm currently on accutane (1.5 months in) and my vision at night seems to have decreased a bit. I have 20/20 vision, but I've noticed that things appear a bit fuzzy at night. Overall my eyes are also somewhat sensitive to light during the day (more than usual).
  14. Thanks for your feedback Twizzlers! Does anyone with neutral/warm-ish undertones use Jane Iredale, and if so, how is the coverage?? I have not heard of SunCat. Jane Iredale's mineral makeup has nothing in it that will clog pores or irritate your skin. However, I don't think it covers very well. I am very fair skin so sometimes it is hard for me to find makeup that covers really good. So their darker shades may cover better.
  15. You definitely make a good point about make-up companies and that their products target people with average skin. I suppose the majority of the population isn't on accutane. Also good to know that Bare Escentuals makes a matte powder. Thanks for your input!!
