  1. Lemonberry, Your skin looks great girl! Thanks for sharing.
  2. Hello, I use tretinoin .05% cream, which is like the generic version of Retin-A. It sounds like your skin is still getting used to the retin-a. Don't feel bad, my skin took a good 2 months! I think you are on the right track by only applying it every other day. Don't forget to use a gentle cleanser and a good moisturizer. This might help with the dryness. Personally, I really liked cetaphil, both their gentle facial cleanser and the moisturizer, but anything gentle will do. Just remember th
  3. Hi Akita Girl, I can totally relate! I broke out like crazy when I was 26 too and wound up having to take 3 different prescriptions to get it under control. My acne was a LOT worse than yours. I agree with a previous poster that you should see a different derm who is going to listen to you and get the whole story before making a snap decision. Also, PLEASE do NOT pick at your face. That is how you get scarring and if your skin is started to have problems healing, please don't risk it. I know

    Tretinoin and Scars

Here is my progress using Duac in the daytime and Tretinoin .05% cream every night. I guess it's not really a scar log, but I did end up with a ton of scars after 3 months on this regimen. If someone can recommend a good treatment for my type of scarring, I would really appreciate it.
  5. I used tretinoin .05% cream and it cleared me up in 3 months. Here is a link to my gallery: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...amp;album=10781 I must warn you, the IB pictures are really bad!!! I'm still using the tretinoin (going on 4.5 months) and I think it is slowly improving my scars and red marks too. Don't know if I would have experienced the same or better results with retin-a, but the tretinoin does work.
  6. Goooo Sapphire Lily! I wish you all the best in your journey. My scarring is very similar to yours, but I also have a lot of red marks. I agree with you about retin-a causing scars. I am still using tretinoin .05% cream. I think that it has improved old scars that I had before I started using it, but it also gave me new scars! What is up with that?! Yeah, I think it is really frustrating how much professional scar treatments cost, especially considering there is no guarantee they will eve
  7. Dang girl, your makeup looks flawless! It looks really natural too. Have you had any breakouts since you're been using it? Also, do you use a moisturizer too or just the witch hazel. Thanks for the advice, I have a lot of scars too and I normally use bare minerals.... but it's messy and expensive and doesn't do crap for my scars so I have been looking for a new makeup routine.
  8. Hi Dwarf, great progress! I am also dealing with a lot of redmarks and scars. I don't have the money to do any type of laser treatment, but I've been using these products and they have been helping. I ordered them all online. Philosophy's microdelivery peel- an at home microdermabrasion. Use 2/3x a week. Mario Badescu's whitening mask- this is a really gentle mask that is supposed to lighten hyperpigmentation. Use 2/3x a week. Skin Laboratory's HQ Peel- This is a chemical peel and it's pretty
  9. Well, I have been using tretinoin .05% cream every night religiously for the past 4 months. It has rid me of my horrible acne and my skin is 500 times better than it was 4 months ago, but now I want to start using it every other night... but I'm worried that I will start breaking out again. I also use Duac every morning. It is too soon? Should I keep using it every night and for how much longer? Has anyone slowly decreased their retinoid usage and did you notice any new breakouts? Did your
  10. thanks for the info guys. I will stop messing with them...
  11. Congrats on getting clear! I use Philosophy's micro-delivery peel, it's like an at-home microdermabrasion. I can't afford a real-deal microdermabrasion right now, but the at-home kind has been improving my hyperpigmentation a lot so I'm assuming getting one done by a professional would improve them even more.
  12. It sounds like your skin is really sensitive. I recommend Mario Badescu's whitening mask. It is very gentle, not like a chemical peel. It also has a lot of good reviews for lightening red marks and is priced okayyyy... I mean, it's not as expensive as other things i've bought that didn't help at all.
  13. If you are getting married in a month, do NOT use tretinoin. You need to give it at least 3 months to work and it will make your acne a lot worse before it gets better. I used tretinoin .05% cream and my IB was probably at its worse after a month. Here's a link to my gallery so you can see how bad my IB was: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php...amp;album=10781 sorry if that link doesn't work.
  14. I think that touching your face makes them redder because any type of touch is basically an irritation that will inflame the red marks. Plus when you are washing your face, you are like stimulating the blood flow. Same with working out, the sweat is irritating my face and the blood is pumping, so my red marks stand out alot, even if I'm wearing make up. Exfoliating just means sloughing off skin cells. You know how skin is like layers, so it helps to get rid of the dead skin cells on top by e
  15. Red marks suck! They are such a mind freak too. It's like you said, sometimes they look good (for me, they look the most faint in the morning when I first wake up) but then you take a shower or go workout and they get bright red! Ugh! It's horrible. I've been using tretinoin (retin-a) for the past 4 months and I have been mostly clear for almost 2 months. I didn't want to start treating the red marks until after my acne had cleared. So for the past month or so, I have been rotating between
