  1. Sorry I haven't been on here much lately. I figured I'd check things out and make an update... I originally posted that on May 7th, and today is the 22nd. Like I originally said, the first 2 days I didn't really notice a difference in my skin. But afterwards, my skin started to clear little by little. I STILL have not broken out badly like I was! I got a couple real small ones that have quickly went away, probably related to stress or something. But no more big, red, painful cyst-like pim
  2. So I'm a newer member on here and I've posted a couple of threads about my mysterious sudden bad (cystic) break outs that started somewhere around February 2010. For the past 6 or 7 years my skin has been mostly clear, a couple of minor break outs here and there but nothing major (thanks to Accutane in my later teen years). I thought I had my skin back under control about a month ago but I broke out again, pretty bad; especially around the neck area. Anyway, a week ago I woke up, and went to
  3. Just wanted to give out some info on the things I've recently been taking that others may want to consider. I recently within the past couple of months had a bad flare up. Probably the worst since that age of 17 (I am now 24). So I went to the doc's and was put on Doxycycline. I think the flare up was a mixture of me quitting smoking and the added stress in my life (my dad has been in and out of the hospital since February). I picked a hell of a time to quit smoking lol. After being on ant
  4. One thing everyone should keep in mind is that we are all different. This reg may work for you or it may not. I was intrigued with this thread and wanted to add my 2 cents. Up until a little over a month ago, I was (mostly) acne free since the age of 18 (thanks to Accutane). Over the past year and a half I got real big into weight lifting/bodybuilding, eating right, getting in shape and learning as much as I can about nutrition. Just recently I got a real, real bad flare-up. I'd rate it as
  5. Thanks for the reply meansister Haven't tried either of those yet, I'll definately look into them though. I know about the unfortunate consequences of using antibiotics. The only reason I considered it was because my lack of health insurance. I went to the doc yesterday and was prescribed Doxycycline (I was on this once before years and years ago; before Accutane and it worked well). On top of paying $55 for the office visit, I was pleasantly surprised that my local Giant Eagle Pharmacy had
  6. To make a long story short, I am a 24 year old male. I had moderate to severe cystic acne through my teen years. I had been put on different antibiotics (which seemed to help some), RX topical solutions (which irritated my skin), Proactiv and various face washes/scrubs. Until one day I was put on Accutane around the age of 18. My dermatologist back then was very hesitant to put me on Accutane, and for good reason. But finally did. After being on Accutane for about 3 months I had to be take
