I've taken zinc before bed on an empty stomach plenty of times and haven't had any problems with stomach pain or nausea. It give you really vivid dreams!

You should give most products a good trial period before giving up on them, lots of things can cause negetive reactions at first then clear up quickly and be only good for you, especially natural products like jojoba oil.
