  1. I used to have atrophy from cortisone (Kenalog) injections into my keloids about 6 months ago! And after Googling madly and finding a handful of threads here and elsewhere, I saw that saline injections seem to have a decent success rate. I asked my derm to inject my dent - she was really skeptical, but she did it. I guess it's not something not all derms are familiar with as a treatment ...? I brought a printout of that study's abstract that others referenced (this one). And I definitely saw imp
  2. TWO MONTHS-ISH - derm put me on 50 mg instead of 40 mg - face does not really look better to me - fun times - trying not to blow nose too hard in the morning.
  3. DAY SOMETHING - Basically, just over 1 month I have lots of deep whiteheads (I have no idea what they're called) and I have recently come to terms with the fact that I am a compulsive pimple-picker. I am trying to stop. I've found that if I just don't look in the mirror after I shower, I'm good. But it drives me crazy when there's a pimple that would be SO much better if it was popped (some of them benefit from being popped, I swear) and then it explodes randomly? That sucks. Also, when you
  4. DAY 17 - OCT 31 So the nose bleeds are starting (I am quite prone to them anyway), the flaky scalp continues, and mild eczema has begun on the back of my hands. Fun. Am trying to drink an obscene amount of water.
  5. Oh I wasn't aware there was a board just for personal logs. Apologies and thank you for moving my topic. DAY 8 - OCT 22 Today (well, yesterday, technically, it's 1 AM) was my last day of the initial 2-week, every-other-day thing my derm had me do. From here on out it's gonna be Accutane every day, troopers! I won't say I'm not feeling a bit of trepidation. Fingers crossed. Also fingers crossed my side effects list does not grow. Side Effects I've Experienced (So Far) - dry lips (but
  6. Greetings, I have taken my second pill. My derm told me to take a pill every other day for two weeks, and then take one every day after that. So I guess this is day 2? No noticeable side effects so far. I've been trying to sleep well, drink water, moisturize everything, etc. regardless. I'm crossing my fingers for little to none of the usual side effects, and if I am plagued by any of them, hopefully is it mild and not debilitating. (DAY 2 - OCT 10)
  7. Hey all, Typical acne story: I've had some form of it since I was 12-13ish and I won't say I've tried everything, but I've tried most over-the-counter drugs, topicals, natural remedies, etc. The last few things I've tried are Differin, herbal medicine, and vitamin e oil. For the past few weeks, I haven't been putting anything on my face other than a little bit of makeup (which is amazing and terrifing for me - I used to wear a thick layer daily) and washing with CeraVe cleanser. I have m
  8. I looked up some side effects of Differin and hair loss is included among them. There are a couple Differin-related hair loss threads on this forum, but they don't have many replies. The information that I have learned is that vitamin A toxicity can happen, since Differin and other retinoids are derivatives of vitamin A. However, hair loss is not listed on the package because it is not a confirmed side effect. I am concerned: I don't think my acne is going away (I've been using Differin
  9. Somewhat of a continuation: That awkward moment when you plan to pop a pimple with enough time for it to scab over so you can put makeup over it
  10. - chest (then I can only wear unflattering t-shirts up to my neck, which doesn't allow the acne to breathe, which makes it worse ... vicious cycle) - right under your nose (they REALLY HURT and then you have to pop them several times until all the crap is out) - cheeks (I think the amount of skin/flesh here allows for really deep pimples)
  11. I'd just like to say that I went out in public for literally the first time with friends without make up on! It is a very good skin day for me, and it was admittedly an unexpected midnight trip to a bar with very dim lighting, but that brief minute when I walked out into the fluorescent-lit hallway of my college residence until we went outside, baring my acne/scars/red marks ... that was terrifying. But liberating. Maybe it was just the protection of darkness that gave me confidence, but I
  12. You know, I'm going to go swimming soon, and I had similar thoughts! When I was a kid, I swam every week, and my badly chapped lips would get better every time I went. Maybe chapped lips = acne ... ?
  13. Let's just say it is super awkward to see the same people on your residence floor in the washroom all the time and to finally talk to them after messing with your face in the mirror, then realizing later that your left cheek was bleeding the entire time. They're really nice people though!
  14. Acne, you artist - Painting landscapes on my face. I'm not your canvas.
  15. I bet my perpetually dirty makeup brushes are causing my acne, but I'm just too lazy to go out and buy different cleaners. I will force myself to sometime this weekend though, so I'd appreciate recommendations of brush cleaners that aren't too expensive (preferably) but don't leave residue and clean thoroughly. Thanks!
