  1. tdot, i haven't been on BCP since i was about 19, but i have tried EPO on a few occasions and have always ended up with huge jawline cysts.it might be an idea to go off of all the hormone balancing herbs/oils and just stick to your diet to see what happens. it could be that those supplements aren't suitable for your current hormone imbalances.
  2. red wine is the only alcohol i drink...and i looooooooove it. it doesn't have a negative effect on my acne (i've tested this many times). i can't tell if it has a positive effect, however. my acne does seem less inflamed the morning after i drink red wine...but this could be in my head.
  3. I've found that I can handle red wine without breaking out...beer on the other hand makes me break out badly.
  4. Thank you so much alternavista. I do have significant menstrual problems, yes. I know they are improved by flax for sure, as both my cramps and flow are better if i regularly consume it. Soy has seemed to make my cycle more regular though...it's weird. Perhaps I will try the chastberry.
  5. Hi all, I know there has been much talk about how bad soy can be for acne. I have actually noticed, however, through trial and error, that soy actually seems to help my acne. Has anyone else experienced this? It has long been suggested to me that I am estrogen dominant, and I think soy's affect on me might be related to this. (ie. the supposed ability of the phytoestrogens in soy to block out stronger estrogens). Thoughts?
  6. Hey tdot! If you're still around, how did coming off of the pill go?
  7. Resurrecting this thread... Just wanted to throw in my two cents. ACV DOES work. Some background: I've battled acne for a decade now, and over the past few years I've tried to find ways to treat it through diet. After all of this time, I STILL haven't quite figured out the "magic" combination, but I've come close. I've managed to clear up my chest and body acne, and my face has improved. I do well on a low GL diet, and I also have to watch how much fat I consume. Dairy gives me cysts. I also c
  8. I'm 25 and I've had acne since I was about 18. I get it on my face, back and to a lesser extent, chest. After all this time I've finally discovered that there are diet and lifestyle changes to be made that may improve your acne. I used to have pretty bad acne on my back. I would get large cysts that would be really painful. I wouldn't ever wear a bathing suit or tank tops because of the large bumps on my back/shoulders. Through a lot of experimentation I've discovered that maintaining a low-GI/v
  9. Wedding the day after tomorrow. Skin suddenly the worst it's been in months. Have even suddenly developed cystic acne and now it's too late to do anything. Oh. No.
  10. I've tried psyllium on a few different occasions and I always get problems with bloating/constipation followed by diarrhea.
  11. I believe this has actually worked for me. There was a time when I was eating practically no grains, no dairy, sugar, etc etc, but a lot of fat (olive oil, almonds, avocados, coconut oil) and my acne got worse. More recently I've started eating dairy again in the form of yogurt (no fat) and even sometimes ice cream (which I shouldn't be doing, but sometimes I can't resist) and I've reduced fat a lot. Acne has improved. I even eat gluten sometimes. I seem to get flair ups when I eat too much fat
  12. Hehehehe. So you ended up doing your own makeup then?
  13. Thank you all for your replies. I'm still totally dreading the day, but at least I know I'm not completely alone. I just wish I could look forward to this day without having to agonize over my skin.
  14. I actually think the low fat thing may also be the best diet for me. I've had acne for years now (started breaking out when I was 17 or 18 and I'm now 25). I have both facial and body acne. Over the past couple of years I've tried the various common "anti-acne diets." I cut out dairy for the most part, stayed away from grains except for rice as much as possible, tried to get most of my carbs from low GI fruits and veggies, incorporated good fats, etc etc. . I've seen improvements along the way f
