  1. Hey All, So I have now been off Accutane for a little over a week. Things have been going pretty good. No new acne for almost a month now which is by far and away the longest stretch of my life! (keeping the fingers crossed and it stays that way). I have slowly been seeing th side effects go down. Much less dryness of the lips and skin, and the rash on the back of my hand is fading. The only major concern I have right now are some pretty deep red marks that are all over one side of my face. I h

  3. Mert - Glad to hear that you are done and things are going well. I am nearing the end of month five and might be coming off soon, but had some questions for ya. I still have a few pretty noticeable red marks. My derm says these should fade once I am off. Did you have any experiences with red marks. and if so, how fast did they fade once you were off? Also, what was your cumulative dosage (ie: mg/kg), and how long were you on it? I will be ending about 150 mg/kg. Thanks for the feedback.
  4. Mee_shell: My advice would be to make sure you express to your doctor the psychological toll that your acne is having on you. This is something that really made a big difference with my derm. They are trying to use this medicine as a last resort, but in my humble opinion, if it is causing scarring or verifiable emotional distress it is something that should be seriously considered. So just make sure you express the feelings you've been having to the dermatologist and I think this may help th
  5. Hey all, Just wanted to add my two cents and let everyone know where I am at and how things are going. So good to hear updates from all of you! I just got my prescription for month 5 which begins on Wednesday for me. Doctor said that he would consider taking me off after the end of this month as I will have met my cumulative dosage of 12,000mg or 150mg/kg. Just wondering what others will be at cumulative dosage wise? I would honestly rather just do the 6 month. I would rather error on the
  6. Jen- Hang in there. You are very early in the process and from my personal experience and many others it has definitely gotten worse/stayed the same before it got better. I know how frustrating it can be believe me. I didn't start seeing really good clearing till month 3 or so and it has gotten continuously better since then. Getting to that point won't be fun, but take my word it will be worth it. Hope everything else is going well for everyone. Thor
  7. Hey Everybody, Haven't posted in a while, but been poking my head in and reading everyone's posts when I can. Glad to see lots of people making good progress and new additions to the thread. I wish I could be an advocate for going on this medication as I know how much it had already helped me and so many others. I am currently halfway through month 4 and things have been going well. Only a few very small zits, seem to be less severe and go away alot quicker than usual. Also, no cysts in a
  8. Well I would describe the last week as ....Uuuugggghhhhh....... on day 73 and I am still breaking out and the red marks that are left behind from the earlier acne just won't go away. Don't know what to do. Trying to read the journals of others that have seen later success, but somedays that just isn't enough either and want to crawl into a hole for the next few months until this gets better. Thanks for letting me rant. Thor
  9. Avicia - i am a picker too and lots of times I won't even notice that I'm doing it. This may be a little too masochistic for ya but I have begun to put a rubber band on my wrist then when I notice myself going to pick I give the rubber band a little snap just to remind myself that this is not a good habit. I know negative reinforcement isn't really the best idea but I have noticed I snap alot less and hopefully soon won't at all! Just an idea. You could also try a less painful reminder. Doe
  10. Hey Everybody, Just found this thread and first wanted to thank everybody for everything they have shared. It really does make a world of difference to read everyones stories. I know the feeling all to well of feeling like no one understands what I am going through so its great to hear everyone saying the exact things that I have been thinking. I am on day 63 of my journey. First month was 40 mg with a pretty bad IB. Second month was bumped up to 80 mg which unfortunately prompted another
