  1. Suzy Lee, I read your post almost two weeks ago. I didn't reply at the time because I wasn't sure what to say...It is probably the saddest post I've ever read from this site, but also the most genuine. I know that everyone's skin is different, so I don't want to start rambling off what worked for me. What I can offer is my opinion on switching too quickly from one medication to the next. In my early 20's, I had a dermatologist who would prescribe 3-5 topical creams/gels and an antibiotic e
  2. The health insurance companies were no help to me either...when I had to apply for my own plan (after turning 25, no longer covered under my parents' plan), I was denied by every health insurance provider because of my acne history. The costs of antibiotics and topical gels is very expensive, so it makes sense why no one would give me coverage. What's sad is, because of my acne history, if I actually had any kind of medical emergency, I would have to pay completely out of pocket. This put me i
  3. I think you answered your own question...if you feel like NOT looking in mirrors gives you more confidence throughout the day, than I'd avoid looking as much as possible. Before acne, I was obsessed at looking in the mirror (touching up my makeup, fixing my hair, etc.) When my acne was at its worst, I was at first absolutely obsessed with looking in the mirror. Like you, I felt like I HAD to know what was going on with my skin as often as I could. After a couple of months, I realized there was
  4. I'm a group class junkie There's a few studios I LOVE to take yoga at, and feel like a second family to me. Glad my post made your day a little brighter!
  5. Your fear of coming off antibiotics is understandable. One of my best girlfriends had to stop taking Accutane because it caused her heart rate to sky rocket. Fortunately, her acne did not return after she stopped the Accutane. When I came off of antibiotics, my acne returned. Fortunately, my skin is now completely clear because of what I am using now. I cut and paste one of my blog posts so you can see the different antibiotics and products I've used. Hope this helps. Read my blog for more inf
  6. I honestly know how you feel. I read your daily regimen...my advice to you is to switch to the acne.org regimen. I also saw that you take birth control for acne. Our situations sound extremely similar. Please read my blog, I think it can really help you. I cut and paste one of my previous blog posts here: I remember sobbing (not just tears, actual loud cries of desperation) a few times in my car on the way home from work. When I had to eat outside of the house, I would go through drive thrus
  7. A week from today will mark my one year anniversary since using the Regimen. If you read my previous posts, you'll see my progress from SEVERE acne to now completely clear & smooth with zero redness or dry/flaky skin and very faint scarring. It's sounds too good to be true, but patience, diligence, discipline and the right products have helped me overcome this difficult battle with my skin. I will pick up from where I was in my last post (6 months ago). At that time, I was completely cle
  8. Cold sores are a bummer. I use to get them pretty often, especially when it was warmer weather. I finally found the cure...I use Campo-phenique everyday to prevent getting cold sores. I apply a thin layer in the morning, before applying chapstick. You can buy it at any drug store. It's a little tingly, but great for preventing cold sores.
  9. Hi Miya, I want you to know you're not alone, and that I truly know how you feel. I used to act very distant towards my fiance too when I had bad acne. My fiance is very attractive, and I've always felt very lucky to be with him. I used to wonder if he would be with me if I wasn't attractive as well, but while having severe acne, it really confirmed he was with me for the right reasons. He saw how depressed I was, and how having acne was affecting EVERY aspect of my life. But he stuck by m
  10. It's been 6 months since I started using the Regimen. I'm so happy to report my skin is still COMPLETELY CLEAR! My focus is now on improving the texture of my skin (smoothing it out), reduce the visibility of red marks left from previous acne, and make my skin less dry and flaky. Two months ago, I started using RareMinerals Renew & Reveal Facial Cleanser from Bare Escentuals. My skin is now smoother, has a healthy glow, and removed dead, flaky skin. It's a powder you add a little water to.

  12. I noticed I was getting extremely dry skin around my eyes, so I started using bareVitamins Eye Rev-er Upper by Bare Escentuals. It works fabulous. Even though it's a tiny tube, it's lasted me 4 months already. I encourage anyone who is having dry eye issues to try this! I apply this after washing my face, before using the TREATMENT (that way there's no BP residue left on my fingers that can possibly get close to my eyes).

  14. Hi, In your list of treatments you've tried, I didn't see the Regimen included. Have you tried Dan's Regimen? Please read my blog to read more about my experience with it. I agree with one of the other replies to your post that the key is to not lose hope. My blog is Girls/Women with Acne.
  15. I've had minor acne since I was 16, but it was never severe enough to cause me to feel anti-social, depressed or anxious. Now, I know EXACTLY how that feels. I didn't get severe acne until after coming off of Yaz birth control (July 2009). About a week after I stopped taking it, my face was covered (forehead, cheeks, chin, upper lip) with papules and postules. I was horrified. At first, I told myself I wasn't going to let it get to me. My hormones just needed time to balance back, I just had t
