  1. You do not need to see a dermatologist to be prescribed spiro. My physician prescribed me spiro. I also went to her for check-ups. Hormonal acne can take place anywhere on a body: whole face, neck, chest, shoulders, back, legs, buttox, ect. It is not only restricted to the jaw line. It actually is very disturbing when I hear someone say it is. Good luck, and if you want to know anything else from me, post your question or send me a message.
  2. There are hormone medications that will clear acne in males. The hormones that are causing acne are very crucial to males. That said, men should not use hormone madications for clearing acne. I know from experience. Try accutane, oral antibiotics, BP.

stay on it for at least 6 months, and if you're not seeing any results, then give it up. Oil production should decrease dramatically the first 2-3 weeks. Then after 4 months, normal oil production. Not to be discouraging, but it seems like this won't work for you. Give it the full 6 months to be definite.

That breakout happened to me. You might not get an IB from spiro. So after stopping an antibiotic, you might not break out. Btw I stopped taking spiro because of the side effects. I got through 6 months of breaking out, then when I'm clear I quit. I'm a 20 year old male, so the side effects are much more severe than a girl on spiro. I always hated topicals because I thought they never did anything, but I'm mixing benzoyl peroxide with zinc, and my face is clear. I've been off antibiotics and spi

    Spiro

Hi. My acne got a lot worse when I started spiro. Then the antibiotic kept my acne under control to where I might only have one pimple daily. Then after 4 months is when I had no pimples. So I decided to stop the antibiotc. When I stopped, acne came back, but not as bad as before spiro. So I think this is when I got past the initial breakout peak. I still got pimples, but it's all downhill from here. Then at month 6, I had no pimples!!! Finally... I hear at month 6 you might get a pimple every

I didn't start really seeing results until my 5th/6th month in. You should get a oral antibiotic until the 5th 6th month.
  7. It decreased a lot at 2 weeks in. It still was decreasing after that, just not at the quick rate of the first 2 weeks. It took 5 months to start clearing my acne.
  8. That's what I did. My doc started me at 12.5 mg, I took 25. Then it was 25, I took 50, then 50, I took 100 for a couple weeks, then moved down to 75. I took 25 mg in the morning, 50 mg at night. That worked best for me. I'm a male, that's why I started at such a low dose. I completely understand if you up your dosage. Just make sure you will never run out of pills. My doc was cool and called in a refill whenever I pleased. One time I did run out of pills, when I was supposed to be on 12.5 mg. it
  9. I'm going to be 18 in a month Well, umm... I will get to a point. I started puberty later than most kids. I really didn't see myself gaining muscle or facial hair until I was 18. I'm still not done with puberty. I only hit the peak. Spiro practically gets rid of all the androgens in a persons body. Androgens are very very important for a male going through puberty. Androgens are what makes a person get taller, get stronger, build muscle, grow hair, makes voice deepen, makes a male be able to

  11. I fluctuated between 25 mg and 100 mg. It didn't matter what dose I took, I always felt that way. The higher dose helped clear my acne a lot more than the lower dose. Give it a try if you want to, you might not have the same side effects as I. Don't mind me asking, how old are you?
  12. Have you thought about B-5 at all buke? I know you were looking to take accutane and so was i but my doc denied me of it so thats what made me take B-5 since it basically does the same thing when it comes to decreasing sebum levels, less side effects, and of course doesnt shrink pores like accutane does. What's up jay?? Thanks for reminding me there are other options out there, but I've tried just about every non-prescription vitamin, mineral, supplement out there. Nothin works for me other
  13. Many males use this for it's original diuretic use. For acne, most derms will only give it to females. There is a lot more harsh side effects for men. I'm a 20 year old male, and I was on spiro for 5 months. I just stopped using it because of the side effects. It did wonders for my acne, but it destroyed me in every other way. I lost all of my energy. I started sleeping 12 hours a day, every day, and very tired when I woke up. I stayed tired al throughout every day. I coudn't think straight. My
  14. I'm quitting spiro. FInally after 5 moths it starts clearing my face, and now I'm quitting. I really love spiro, and I wish I didn't have to do this... I can never concentrate anymore, I'm always tired, and have no energy. I'm a math tutor, and I'm having trouble with problems I would normally find easy. I'm losing all my muscle mass... I'm gonna crush pills, mix them with BP, and use it topically, but no more oral spiro for me(cryyyy). I'm posting this to let my fellow web friends know that I'm
  15. I've been on it for 5 months and I feel exactly like you. I am still always tired, and feel dumber in layman's terms. I was also taking 50 mg twice a day. I cut down to just 50 mg at night. You should try to take 100 or 75 mg just at night... After doing this I feel more energetic, but still not my normal self... You should give it a try.
